On the healing front, don't forget you each have at least one healing fruit (basically, a healing potion).

Crodlu's bloodied at 3 HP, and Arakan should be 1 more Sq to the right (slid himself with majestic word).

Th'Kal.

Th'Kal.

male Mul Fighter 4 EXP 3873

I'm trying to work on Th'kal's move.

I guess he'll charge the dwarf.

male Mul Fighter 4 EXP 3873

Pardon me if it's all farted up though.....

male Mul Fighter 4 EXP 3873

So, encounter ability: swift charge;
I use his basic attack to hit, add +1 for charging, and if I hit he's at 0 hp if I understand this correctly.

Charge to AJ-AK 54-55; using greataxe

1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 1 = 13 vs. AC

damage is the bastard is at 0 if I hit.......

and, for the minor action, since he's using his greataxe, I'll use Vanguard Greataxe daily power: I give all of my allies within 10 squares a +1 to hit, and my cha mod (which is 0, or more correctly -1) to damage.
I guess I can use two daily powers, since one is a "standard action" and one is a "minor action?"......

damn sucky roll!!!!!!

male Mul Fighter 4 EXP 3873

and, irl I just got called in to do a lung scan on a patient.
So, if this needs some correction, I'll be back in 4 hours, or somebody else can do something; IDK.

No, what it means is that if Kal knocks someone to 0hp he can charge someone else as a free action. Sadly...

Th'Kal urges his crodlu on, swinging his axe and buzzing a keening warcry. But the dwarf ducks at the last moment, deflecting the blow wide.

Gart.

Map updated.

male Mul Fighter 4 EXP 3873

Oh well.

MAP 42/42 hp

bottom right of pg268, option D, says i can do a move and two minors for a turn, so here goes:

Move Action: Dismount to AM55
Minor Action: Inspiring Word (2/encounter): Arakan can spend a healing surge and regain 1d6 additional hit points.
Minor Action: Preservation Shield (daily): You and each ally within 5 squares gain temporary hit points equal to the number of healing surges you have remaining (10).

"Arakan, get up! It's only a flesh wound!"

Summary: so Gart ends up dismounting his crod into square AM55, Arakan can spend a surge to heal as normal plus 1d6 more, and everyone in the party (except Jareen and his crod, who are too far away) gains 10 temporary hit points.

The rogue defiler moves up closer to the fight. With staff in one hand, he summons a huge multi-barbed whip of tainted fire which he lashes at Th'Kal with the other.

Defiler goes balrog. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 v Fortitude, on a hit 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (3, 7) + 8 = 18 fire damage, Th'Kal grants combat advantage and takes 5 ongoing necrotic damage (save ends both).

Furio.

Map updated.

male Mul Fighter 4 EXP 3873

Move: stand up.

Minor: whip out my gouge.

Attack!" frag the s$&% outta the crappy net that sucks crap.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

damage 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (4, 5) + 5 = 14

Furio cuts down the net with a single blow.

Jareen.

Male Human Wizard 4 HP: 18/31 AC: 11 Treasure XP

Jareen appears to throw another bolt at the remaining archer he can see, and then moves up behind Furio.

SA: Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 vs. Will. Hit: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 psychic damage and slide to AK63

MA: Move to AL63-AM64

Jareen's illusory attack goes wide as he rides into the shelter of the gatehouse.

The dwarf focuses on Th'Kal, while two of his pets attack his mount and the other jhakar hopes to take down Arakan's crodlu.

The dwarf attacks Th'Kal, J1 and J2 his crodlu. J1 and J2 shift 1 to flank the crodlu, doing extra damage as it grants them combat advantage. The dwarf uses his Singular Focus power to do more damage to Th'Kal. J3 attack Arakan's crodlu.
Dwarf: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 7 + 2 = 22 v AC, damage 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (5, 2) + 11 = 18
J1: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 = 9 v AC, damage 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 1, 4) + 4 = 10
J2: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 = 18 v AC, damage 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 5, 3) + 4 = 15
J3: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 v AC, damage 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 6) + 2 = 13

The archers continue to fire on the invaders.

A1 fires at Jareen; A3 and A8 at Ruscer; A4 and A6 at Th'Kal; A5 and A7 fire at Gart.
A1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 v AC, damage 5
A3: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 v AC, damage 5
A4: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 2 = 15 v AC, damage 5
A5: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 v AC, damage 5
A6: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 9 + 2 = 25 v AC, damage 5
A7: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 v AC, damage 5
A8: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 v AC, damage 5

Ruscer.

MAP 42/42 hp

Gart's 10 temporary hit points were depleted by the archer's barrage

I'll be amazed if Th'Kal is standing up after that. Always happens when you miss a few days.

EDIT: For consistency, I've had the jhakar's attack Kal's crodlu as I ruled they were too short to reach a mounted rider when they attacked Arakan. So maybe he is standing up, or at least not dead. Maybe...

MAP 42/42 hp

the crod and Thkal and everyone but Jareen and his crod should have gotten 10 temp HP from my daily shield power, so hopefully that negated most of the brunt of this turn's attacks

Male Half-Elf Mindvivisectionist 3/Archaeologist 1 (AC: 16 [T: 13 /F: 14]; HP: 28/28; F+5 (+2 vs Poison), R+8, W+4; Init: +2; Perc: +7 [Low-light vision])

With the 10 temps, my Crodlu is at 0. So it is either dead like a monster, or dying like a PC/NPC. My roll for the healing 1d6 ⇒ 2

"Flesh wound? Maybe you should have done something to help before I had to wrap up the gash left by that damn dwarf's weapon, but... thanks anyways." Arakan, can't help but be grateful for the healing, but to call the hit he just took a flesh wound? Maybe Gart's flesh is a tough as the rocks in his head.

Male Halfling Ranger 2

The 10 from the archers takes off Gart's temp 10 hp

Male Halfling Ranger 2

Attacking the dwarf with both shots

Twin Strike: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 VS AC

Damage 2d8 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7

Hunters Quarry still in effect [dice]1d6

Male Halfling Ranger 2

Attacking the dwarf with both shots

Twin Strike: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21 VS AC

Damage 2d8 ⇒ (4, 8) = 12

Hunters Quarry still in effect 1d6 ⇒ 2

Male Halfling Ranger 2

Ok so I hit submit twice because I messed up on the last dice roll. I forgot to put the / dice on the hunters quarry and hit cancel and resubmit. I will let the GM decide which of these posts plays.

MAP 42/42 hp

remember Arakan that d6 roll is in addition to your normal heal value

Ruscer wrote:

Well, you were half-right with each attack. Twin strike requires two attacks, i.e. two attack rolls for each attack. So as you managed to roll two attacks, we'll take those (they both hit) and we'll take the damage you initially rolled, plus the Hunter's Quarry damage you subsequently rolled. There's actually an error on your character sheet (my fault, since I wrote it) and the damage you do with Twin Strike per shot is 1d8+1 (taking account of your +1 magic weapon), adding another 2 damage. Note that you can edit your posts after you submit them within an hour, unless you are short for time, of course.

After all that...

Ruscer's arrows strike home. The dwarf is badly wounded now.

Arakan.

Arakan wrote:

Araklan's crodlu flops to the ground as the jhakar tears at its flesh.

Dead crodlu.

Male Half-Elf Mindvivisectionist 3/Archaeologist 1 (AC: 16 [T: 13 /F: 14]; HP: 28/28; F+5 (+2 vs Poison), R+8, W+4; Init: +2; Perc: +7 [Low-light vision])

Roger, I added the surge value. Sadly, I was at 1 HP so with the 2 heals, yours and mine, I'm up to 2/3 my hp. The temps are nice too.

Arakan decides to let the big guys do what they do best and fight the other big guys, he's going to try and minimize some of the beating they're taking from the archers. "Ruscer, shoot as many of the archers as you can, we have more range than most of the rest of our group. Let the beat sticks pummel one another."

standard, Sly Flourish on A4 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 7 - 2 = 12 vs AC. If that hits 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Arakan's shot misses, as Th'Kal slumps from his saddle.

OK, I've just checked Th'Kal's hp and he is unconscious following being attacked by the dwarf. The damage from the archers will instead apply to his crodlu. He's on -11 hp and taking ongoing damage which would actually kill him. However, because he hasn't been around, I'm going to have him unconscious and making death saving throws instead and waive the ongoing damage.

Death Save 1: 1d20 ⇒ 12 - success

Anyone know where he is?

Gart.

even my temp hp didnt save him?

move to AM55
attack w/ Shielded Assault

Ruscer and I get +2 AC until EoNT

No, but they stopped him being killed outright.

sorry. J2. I'd like to get at that dwarf but i dont want to take a bunch of AoOs.

You still have a Minor left - want to do anything with it?

Gart hits the jhakar - hard. It bleeds heavily, one of its limbs crushed.

It does, and you can.

"Get up, my buggy friend! There's glory to be had!"

Inspiring words indeed.

Th'Kal stirs where he lies on the ground. He now has 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 hp and is conscious.

The defiling mage fires his bleak rays at Gart.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 v Fortitude, on a hit 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 damage and Gart grants combat advantage until the end of the Defiler Assassin's next turn.

Jareen.

Male Human Wizard 4 HP: 18/31 AC: 11 Treasure XP

Jareen growls in his throat and shouts out "Are you moving forward Furio or not!" He then throws another bolt at the archer he can see.

Atk: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 vs. Will. Hit: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 psychic damage, and slide the target to AK63.

He then rummages in hit pack and takes out the healing fruit, to drink.

Jareen shoots the archer in the face with one hand and then quickly downs a healing fruit with the other.

A1 down.

One jhakar focuses on Furio, its new enemy. Another clambers over the carcass of Arakan's crodlu to attack its erstwhile rider. The dwarf moves up to Gart, murder in his eyes, barking a command to bring the last jhakar at his heels.

J1 moves round and attacks Gart with the dwarf. J2 attacks Furio. J3 attacks Arakan.

Dwarf: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 2 = 11 v AC, damage 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (4, 4) + 11 = 19
J1: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 = 20 v AC, damage 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 4, 5) + 4 = 19

male Mul Fighter 4 EXP 3873

"Ha dwarf! Welcome to my killzone!!!
Enjoy these last few breaths!!!"

Male Halfling Ranger 2

Starting to get worried about the archers Ruscer starts to wonder how much longer they can take this barrage.
Attack is against archer A8
Standard: Healing surge +7 hp
Minor: Shortbow of Speed 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 VS AC
Damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Hunters Quarry: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Makes total possible damage 9

OK, applying Hunter's Quarry is a Minor action, which you had the bandwidth for, but it also must be to the nearest enemy you can see, which A8 most definitely isn't. Not that it makes a difference here.

Ruscer takes a deep breath, gathers himself together and, blocking out the pain of his wounds, takes aim. Another enemy falls to his bow.

Arakan's quick cover has turned into a corner he now found himself trapped in, one of the foul dogs bearing down on him. He draws his widow's knife and realizes that he may be stuck facing off with this beast in melee. He dips the blade real quick before slashing across at the beast. If he can't do enough to kill it, maybe he can at least hinder it some with a little concoction he has available.

Minor, draw knife
Standard, Poisoned Strike on J3 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 vs AC, if it hits1d4 ⇒ 3 and 5 poison damage.
Also, until EoMNT if it moves more than 2 or attacks it falls prone and becomes immobilized until EoINT.
