DS to PF Conversion Guide

Use the above for the various character races ONLY. Note that even some of the standard races are altered. The rest of this is NOT being used in the game.
If you want to play a divine character, we will need to discuss it first.
Also note, Swim is a class skill for no one.

Psionic Talent

Each PC gets to choose a single psionic talent. This table contains the list of possible talents a PC can take. Note that the section of the page which talks about Implementing Talents is not being utilised in this game. You get a single talent irrespective of whether or not you are a member of a psionic class. You do not get multiple talents as a member of a psionic class. You may choose your talent freely from the list - the sentence "Manifesters select talents from their class’s power list" also does not apply for this game.

Traits

Each PC gets two traits - please discuss with me regarding choice, but as there are no Athas-specific traits you can potentially choose what you want.

Equipment

There is virtually no metal on Athas. Therefore, there are no metal weapons, armour or equipment readily available for purchase. In game terms this means:
- currency is not based on gold, but on the ceramic piece (cp). Since 1cp is the equivalent of 1gp, in game terms this is mostly flavour.
- only non-metal armour can be purchased. Of the standard armours, this is basically padded, leather and hide. Shields can only be wooden. However, also be aware of the exotic materials on p154 of the PHB, darkwood and dragonhide. Dragonhide in particular is useful as heavier armours can be made from it, albeit at double the normal price for a masterwork armour of that type. (Note, however, that "dragonhide" in the DS context has not come from dragons but other powerful creatures in DS, like the braxat, mekillot and so on. As such, it provides no elemental protection either. There is only one dragon in DS, and he's much too powerful to be turned into a suit of armour.) There are also exotic armours in various PF supplements which are possibilities, like wooden armour - please discuss with me on a case-by-case basis.
- weapons are made from wood, bone and stone. You can have any weapon you like from PF, but they break easily. On a natural 1 attack roll, your weapon breaks. Also, here is a table of Athasian weapons converted to 3e.

Inherent bonuses

We will be using these rules in respect of inherent bonuses - note the impact on treasure values and magic items. Also note that for some classes - in particular the soulknife - they may need to be modified.

Defiling

The standard use of arcane magic is preserving. I haven't come up with a mechanic for defiling as I assume the PCs won't be defiling. If necessary, I'll think of something.
