Chuko tilts his head slightly sideways at the man.

He turns his own blade around, scabbard and all and places it (fully sheathed) on the table....

"I can not help myself, sword-play is a tengu obsession....perhaps you would like to heft mine as well?"

He lays an Elven curve blade across the table in front of himself......

Grand Lodge

Wreck likes swords. But Wreck prefers axes. Maybe we go fight? Sparring is good to know new friends!

Sovereign Court

Alathos gingerly unsnaps the sheath from his belt and places his sheathed blade within reach of Chuko. He nods approvingly in the direction of the Tengu.

I'm sorry Wreck, I'm afraid to say I'm not much of a duelist. I function at my best as a part of a team. I help them, they help me. Plus, why fight when there is time for food and wine. I take every moment I can to indulge in the finest things civilization has to offer, for I know not when I will have to delve deep into caves and eat nothing but hard bread for sustenance.

Alathos raises his glass to Wreck and takes a large gulp. He then looks back to Mouse;

Cheese? Why yes, I would love some cheese.

He then takes a piece of the offered cheese, gives it a good sniff, smiles, and take a bite.

Huh, this cheese compliments the wine better than one might have expected.

Chuko notes the meterial composition of the blade and expects the blade to seem heavy in his grip. He performs a quick basic series of draw/one-handed cut, step, reposition two handed cut, retreat/low deflections, midcut, resheath.....

Chuko weilds the sword with true finesse.....

He snaps the sword into the sheath and returns it to the table. Then nods to Alathos.

@Wreck
"Has this place a sparring arena?"

As everyone is talking, an older looking human walks in, wearing a white robe and carrying a staff of walnut wood, with intricate carvings on it of various creatures, and also bearing the symbols of the 7 pointed star. On his robe is a very odd mixing of symbols, a 7 pointed star, with an open eye set atop and centered on the star. He comes in wearing his pack, and takes a seat at one of the tables nearby.

As he takes his seat, his robe spreads open a bit, and he can be seen wearing a very ornate and intricate belt, from which hangs a wayfinder of very intricate and complex design, within which dozens and dozens of moving parts and marvels are located.

Silas nods over to Corso. "Yes, word is that he has requested the assistance of any that would come. Though from looking around the room, if he seeks to offer us fame and riches, this must not be some mean task."

Silas reaches into his pack to produce a journal, and starts to write in a vary articulate script.

Glade listening suggests calmly and carefully Have fun wreck, but adventuring is more than just fighting, sometimes you have to hurry to help the next person in trouble, how about a 1 mile race? I'll save my fighting for later?

Sonny grasps R's hand and shakes it vigorously. My name is Sonny Right. Nice to meet you R. Some might call me a hero, but I am just a man that does the job that needs done. I've heard there may be some serious undead trouble here and I've come to lay them to rest. How about yourself?

As Glade mentions a one mile race, the crafty tengu thinks that perhaps he should indeed goad as many of the attendies into a wild-goose race. Perhaps nearly all of them and for much more than a league, perhaps 20 and when they all return he will be on his way to obtain riches....and they will also be happy fools with false glory....

Instead he eats crackers.....and nods half-heartedly.

Ganorok smiles at Alathos.
"Good, isn't it? I am very fond of cheese. Good cheese is great for the soul. And milk!"
He raises his glass of milk.
"I am not so good fighting, I must confess. My trade is to avoid danger, not to seek it. I am a robber, not a fighter!"
He laughs at his own joke.

Silas gazes about the room, ordering some food and drink, and going to sit with Corso as he relaxes a bit. "I beg your indulgence, I hope you do not mind if I join you."

He smiles as he eats, continuing to write in his journal, watching many of the others as they talk and act. "The Pathfinders I think have even expressed interest in assisting our would be patron. If his promises hold true, perhaps there is more than just riches and fame in this venture. But if that holds true, then the danger cannot be any small thing."

Silas takes a long pull from his ale before looking up and shaking his head. "Forgive me, I forget myself. Silas, Chronicler for the Grand Lodge of the Pathfinder Society."

"Since we are making introductions, My name is Baron Corso Altaire, and you may consider this small meal a token of respect for people willing to come to the aid of my countrymen. Although with the assembled entourage, I wonder at the task to be handled. While my advisor's analysis of the letter for aid that I received had no mention of undead, I certainly enjoy tangling with the blasted things." Corso pauses to take a long draw from his mug, then belches, nods to the barkeep in approval, and says "As far as sparring goes, I would be willing to duel. Get the old blood flowing, so to speak."

Noticing that Silas has begun to take notes, he smirks and says "That's Altaire with an 'e' at the end. Have to make sure things are recorded correctly...for posterity, of course."

A tall elven woman sits in the corner of the tavern, not quite sure what to make of the scene unfolding before her. She brushes aside a bang of thick, platinum blonde hair and carefully studies the assortment of colorful characters. Her azure blue eyes glance at the open book laying on her table. She had been reading it rather intently to pass the time, and when she decided to take a break, an army's worth of adventurers of all races has more or less teleported into the building.

"Hannoris Dellum certainly asked a lot of people for help," Eden Kenway muses lightly to herself as she glances back her book. She quickly tucks it away as the elf finds herself wanting to talk with them. There is only one problem with that, being late to a party.

Where does she start?

Two and a half hour warning!

By the way, This is difficult... so many good characters (and it's not even done yet)!

Pick me pick me!! :-D

You said Friday, it's Thursday.
Still adding to Backstory...

HERE YE! HERE YE!

I will end open enrollment this Friday, August 1st, 8pm EDT (GMT -5)
Please have all characters finalized and submitted by then. I will look into a submissions in depth Friday and hopefully choose that evening. If I have trouble deciding (a strong possibility), I may need to delay into Saturday the 2nd.
[/official notice]

Silas nods smiling. "A-l-t-a-i-r-e. Got it. I wonder as to where your barony lies." Silas starts jotting down various things, writing constantly as he takes in the room.

He spies the tall elven woman and waves her over. "Come sit my dear. Master Dellum seems to be one of a very pragmatic mindset, calling for many, and recruiting a select few no doubt. I suppose passing the time among colleagues is as good as any other activity."

Hurrr. Sorry. Been a long week. Can you blame me for wanting it to be Friday?

Add a day onto that warning.

Phew. I'm hoping to finish up Assassin X tonight.

Sorry for his lack of role-play. I promise I'll be more verbal in the game (check Nebbin or Calla or Poog or Jessamy's posts under my aliases...), but he just wouldn't be that outgoing in a bar situation with a group of strangers. :)

Your not the only one, been sick in bed most of the week, Finally Better.

The roleplay isn't really part of my selection process so don't sweat it if you don't want to/can't participate.

AZ's submission

Eden perks up as she is called over. Silas' invite essentially solves the issue of working her way into the... scene before her, so she readily takes it. The elf quickly straightens her robes before standing and taking her chair over to the gentleman who invited her over.

"It indeed seems that way, Mr. Silas; I'm just a bit surprised about the sheer variety of people he asked," Eden answers as she settles in next to the Pathfinder. Her fine elven hearing managed to catch his introduction, so the Transmuter figures that she might as well return the favor. "Eden Kenway of Absalom. If Master Dellum has contacted me for any reason, it probably had something to do with my expertise in Transmutation magic. What about you?"

Her words seem carefully rehearsed and practiced.

Oh thank god, I still have time to work out my Varisian story summoner...

Ganorok ears move!
"Absalom? Absalom! I am from Absalon! Want cheese? I have not been at Absalom for many years! And you?"

So, who would be mad if I ran Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta versions of this... I suspect nobody.

And that Still wouldn't include everybody.

I am all for you lumping us into teams and running separate versions!

Silas shrugs a bit. "That, my dear, I do not know. I am an adept chronicler, and I have spent a goodly number of years for the society storying the long history of the Thassilonian empire's effects on modern times. Studying their runes, magics, methods, training and such. Their manipulation of magic is quite extraordinary. I suppose that is why the Lodge sent me."

I did that for Expanded Horizons R2,

It caused a bit of an overload, and one group dropped a few weeks later,
leaving the other 2 groups, though one was slowly dying, the other stayed strong for a long while.

Hmmm. I'll take that into my considerations, Azure_Zero, thanks

Was that a singular module, though? I imagine with an AP that would never work, but modules aren't so long.

I can't read.

This is motteditor's half-orc assassin. He's basically done, though I still have a few thousand gold to buy/upgrade a few things depending on if he's picked and who he's with.

ETA: I did his stats as if he's taken his feral mutagen, as that's basically the first thing he does every morning. There's a spoiler there that includes his base stats.

Okay, finally done (at half past one in the morning... wow). My submission!

Eidolon Link (Ex) Mental link allows communication over any distance, but share magic item slots.
Evolve Base Form (Su) When you gain a level you may change Eidolon's base form.
Extend metamagic rod (3/day) Metamagic rods hold the essence of a metamagic feat, allowing the user to apply metamagic effects to spells (but not spell like abilities) as they are cast. This does not change the spell slot of the altered spell. All the rods described here are use-activated (but casting spells in a threatened area still draws an attack of opportunity). A caster may only use one metamagic rod on any given spell, but it is permissible to combine a rod with metamagic feats possessed by the rod's wielder. In this case, only the feats possessed by the wielder adjust the spell slot of the spell being cast.

Possession of a metamagic rod does not confer the associated feat on the owner, only the ability to use the given feat a specified number of times per day. A sorcerer still must take a full-round action when using a metamagic rod, just as if using a metamagic feat he possesses (except for quicken metamagic rods, which can be used as a swift action).

The wielder can cast up to three spells per day that are extended as though using the Extend Spell feat. Normal metamagic rods can be used with spells of 6th level or lower.

Construction
Requirements: Craft Rod, Extend Spell feat; Cost 5,500 gp
Greater Shield Ally (+4 AC/Saves, +2 for allies) (Ex) +4 AC and save when within Eidolon's reach. Allies gain +2.
Harrow Chosen (Varisian, 2/week) +2 caster level for divination when using heirloom deck as focus.

Loyalty across Lifetimes Eidolon treats Constitution score as 2 higher when dying.
Maker's Call (3/day) (Su) Eidolon teleports to an adjacent square, as dimension door.
Maw of the silver wyrm +4 insight bonus vs dragon frightful presence.
Resilient Eidolon When you are knocked unconscious, fall asleep, or are killed, your eidolon remains with you
Ring of the ram A ring of the ram has a setting crafted to resemble a ram's head. The wearer can command the ring to give forth a ramlike force, manifested by a vaguely discernible shape that resembles the head of a ram or a goat. This force strikes a single target, dealing 1d6 points of damage if 1 charge is expended, 2d6 points if 2 charges are used, or 3d6 points if 3 charges (the maximum) are used. Treat this as a ranged attack with a 50-foot maximum range and no penalties for distance.

The force of the blow is considerable, and those struck by the ring are subject to a bull rush if within 30 feet of the ring wearer. The ram is Large and uses the ring's caster level as its base attack bonus, with a Strength of 25. This gives the ram a Combat Maneuver Bonus of +17. The ram gains a +1 bonus on the bull rush attempt if 2 charges are expended, or +2 if 3 charges are expended.

In addition to its attack mode, the ring of the ram also has the power to open doors as if it were a character with a Strength score of 25. This usage expends 1 charge. If 2 charges are expended, the effect is equivalent to a character with a Strength score of 27. If 3 charges are expended, the effect is that of a character with Strength score of 29. A newly created ring has 50 charges. When all the charges are expended, the ring becomes a nonmagical item.

Construction
Requirements: Forge Ring, bull’s strength, telekinesis; Cost 4,300 gp
Share Spells with Eidolon (Ex) Your spells ignore type restrictions for Eidolon and it can recieve your personal spells.
Spell Focus (Conjuration) Spells from one school of magic have +1 to their save DC.

Fluff:

Kalderasha la Kore stands about six feet tall, with a slender, toned build. Varisian by birth, his face is tanned and handsome; his eyes a brilliant, deep blue, gleaming with constant wonder; his beard and moustache threaded with silver beads and bouncing excitedly when he speaks.

His most distinguishing feature is his smile, which almost never seems to leave his face, as if the entire world is just a joke to him. A broad grin, sometimes sheepish, but more often than not jubilant, it shows two missing teeth – the upper left premolar and the lower left canine, which have been replaced with appropriately-shaped gold ones. He claims to have lost them in an accident of which he has no memory, and given his absent-mindedness, this could well be the truth.

As a follower of Shelyn, Kal tends to dress in flashy, flowy clothing that shows off his figure and catches the wind in an aesthetically pleasing way. After all, there’s no sense in wearing things that neither look good, nor make you feel good, so he prefers to wear clothes that fulfil both purposes. He isn’t without armour, however – he wears a shimmering shirt of dazzling mithral chainmail, caught between layers of dazzling blue and purple fabric.

Kal is childlike, despite being in his mid-twenties. He sees everything as if experiencing it for the first time – every day is a new beginning to him, and even if he’s done something before, his memory for such things is so terrible, he often doesn’t remember. It’s partly why he’s always smiling – he’s an extraordinarily optimistic young man, due in no small amount to the ministrations of his eidolon.

Kalderasha carries his Harrow deck everywhere, and tends to flip idly through the cards when he’s bored or the conversation comes to a lull. He finds the feel and sound of paper rasping against paper comforting, and finds silence offensive. And while it’s far from common for Varisians to have a connection to the Harrow, Kalderasha is more bonded to the cards than most – for his eidolon, Veritas, is of the cards herself.

Kalderasha discovered his talent for summoning at an early age. When he was ten, he could summon small creatures from the very air around him – birds, snakes, butterflies and the like. As he grew so too did his power, and it was as he was meditating on his harrow deck that his eidolon first appeared. Taking the form of a whirling mass of cards, a miniature storm in his room, her voice echoed in his head, asking for a form. Not knowing what to do, Kal reached into the mass of cards, and withdrew one – the Paladin. The cards coalesced, and before him stood a woman with copper hair, ivory skin, and eyes that shone like molten gold. She introduced herself as Veritas, and explained that she had been sent to guide Kalderasha on the journey of his life.

Though he was confused, Kal accepted the woman – the angel – Veritas - into his life. She proved to be an invaluable guide, far more wise than he, able to perceive the truths in the world and the people who inhabited it. While Kalderasha, of the mortal world, was a daydreamer, Veritas, the being made of dreamstuff, was the realist. It was a strange relationship, but both benefitted from it.

Kalderasha’s wanderlust kicked in when he turned sixteen. He left his family home in Absalom, bade farewell to his younger brother, and set out into the world, Veritas at his side.

Ever since, Kalderasha la Kore has been travelling the world. He’s seen the frigid Lands of the Linnorm Kings, and the vast deserts of Osirion; he’s seen the bazaars of Katapesh, and the necromantic nightmares of Ustalav. And now, he’s in Taldor, at the summons of a man looking for a band of heroes.

Veritas, Kal’s eidolon, takes the form of an angelic woman, nine feet tall, with burnished copper hair, ivory skin, and gleaming golden eyes. She wears dazzling golden armour carved with elaborate knotwork from horned helm to gleaming sabatons, which is actually part of her form and cannot be removed (this is her ‘natural armour’ bonus). Massive white wings spread from her shoulder blades, usually furled when not in flight or battle. Across her back is an enormous blade, constantly shimmering with a holy flame, glowing white in all but the brightest light – as such, she calls it “Lightbringer”. (While wise, Veritas isn’t particularly creative or intelligent – which is also the reason for her somewhat uninspired name.)

The outsider says nothing of her life before Kalderasha, leading the summoner to wonder if he actually created her himself. Whatever the truth may be, Veritas is intensely loyal to Kal, placing herself in harm’s way for him on a regular basis, and striking down those who would seek to harm him. In addition to keeping him safe physically, she does her piece to preserve his optimism and sense of wonder – while he’s witnessed the evils of the world, Veritas tries to bend the truth as much as she feels comfortable with when speaking to him, trying to avoid revealing the depths of the world’s depravity. It’s a wonder the summoner has made it this far without truly realizing what a dark place the world can be – or perhaps he already knows, and his naiveté is simply an act to make the eidolon think she’s doing a good job?

Veritas is not only loyal to a fault, she’s possessive. She’s taken to thinking of Kalderasha as hers – her summoner; her master; her other half. While placing herself between him and enemies is par for the course, she’s lately taken to positioning herself before his friends and allies, as well. While she’s skilled at detecting falsehoods and intentions, she’s becoming more and more suspicious of everyone who isn’t “her Kal”, as if at any moment, any individual could shatter the perfect picture he has of the world like so much broken glass.

El Ronza: Kiwi?

Sorry for the delay but here is the Background. Let me know if there is anything you need me to change/add. Oh and would it be okay for him to have a tattoo somewhere of his daughters name?

Background:

Viemos was one of 10 children born to his mother, Visorianna Kendahan. Visorianna was a rather well known preistis of Calestria in Magnimar and any would flock to the temple as well as her home to warship the great goddess. Viemos was one of the lucky ones, as he was blessed to have a human father. 8 of his other siblings were not so lucky. Half-elves and Half-Orcs were common in his family.

As he grew older he spent more time away from his home and started to roam the streets. The streets of Magnimar were no place for a child to roam unattended but he proved he could hold his own with his fists. This ability to defend himself attracted the attention of a local man who helped him hone his skills and started featuring Viemos in gladitorial fights through out Varisia. This is where his fame started to grow through out the land.

This is also where he met his first love, Aliya, a beautifully stunning young woman. She to would roam the streets but unlike him she didn't have a family to go home to. So he took it upon himself to be there for her when ever she needed. Many years were spent with his love and fiting in gladitorial events and he was making a rather good living. Then it happened.

Aliya became pregnant and everything was going normally until that faitful night when she went into birth. There were complications with the birth and unfortunatly Aliya as well as Viemos's unborn daughter, Talea, died in the birthing process. Viemos turned to his mentor, teacher, and promoter for support but it was learned that the man was only interested in the money that Viemos broght in and cared very little for him beyond that. Next he turned to his family for support in his darkest moment but there was no support to be had. Many of his brothers and sisters, especially those of half blood, had felt betrayed by him when he left. Very little support was ever given to them from the money he was making and they felt it was unfair that his mother had to support all of them with out much help from the much richer Viemos.

Feeling there was nothing left for him in Magnimar and having lost the one true thing that made that city tollerable he left and tried to get as far from it as he could. Unfortunatly on his meager savings from the fights he only made it as far as Riddleport. It was here that he found the temple of Iori and rededicated his life to the Master of Masters.

He spent the next 3 years in isolation totaly dedicating himself to the lessons the priests at the temple taught him and working through the pain of losing his family. It took a lot of hard work but eventually the priests felt he had straightened his life out enlough to give him a gift. They had in their possession a magical bow. They gave it to him and trained him how to use it in battle.

On the night of his unborn daughters third birthday Viemos had spent most of the day training, trying his hardest to channel the anger he felt at his old self for letting his family die and turning his back on his other family. It was then that his life changed forever once more.

The bow spoke to him as he was alone. And more disturbing to him was the fact that the voice sounded just like his departed Aliya. He jumped as he heard it the first time, his blood running cold. He looked around the room frantically trying to find the source of the voice. It spoke again and this time thrummed in his hand. He dropped the boy and ran away screaming and saught out the head priest.

The head priest let Viemos know that he had unlocked the bows true power and that this was a true blessing from Iori and nothing to be feared. He then tasked Viemos to seek out adventure and spread the word of Iori where ever he went. "The time has come for you to go out my son. Be one of Iori's priests in the streets and seek out evil. He has gifted you with a wonderous item and you must now use it to bring glory to him"

That night was 10 years ago and he had wondered all over galorian spreading the word of Iori and defeating evil with his bow, which he has named after his late departed wife. Word has started to spread about the monk who speaks to his bow and the wonderful power he weilds with it and his fame once again starts to build but this time it brings glory to the Gods.

Rathis, you might wanna update your display info: I doubt you have 37 hp and a 17 ac (at least at this level, I hope not).

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Vrog. Thanks! I think I managed a bit better than that. :)

no worries. I just like to look at people's builds, and I admit my first thought was "is he suicidal?" then I realized it's probably just something you forgot to update. =D

Orionet: close, but no cigar. Aussie. :-)

she does have the (Australian) subtype, according to her profile.

Now at the 5.5 hr. mark! And I double checked the date this time. :)

I will be going with more than one group for this, but I haven't quite decided if that "more" will be 2 or 3 or what. We'll see if we get any more submissions before the deadline.

I recommend that if you are doing more than one group that you build some type of tracker for each one! Otherwise you will have to remember which group has/has not done something, what enemies are alive/dead, etc.

I made that mistake using some Ashardalon Series modules in my Shackled City AP (While having a seperate group that is in AS). Somehow the two groups were in the same module at about the same point and I lost track!

it helps to have separate threads. so you can see what each game has done.

Oh yes, they will have separate threads. I couldn't track both at the same time in the same thread. That's just logistical suicide.
