Heh. Mythic is... more a mechanic for heroes, typically (or, in this game, a balancing mechanic for the GM—there's some mythic obstacles/enemies I've had planned for the end of this game from the beginning, and a few of the cities you're now dealing with just happen to have mythic leaders).
I'm saving the heavily-mythic stuff for my next campaign (I've got the premise and beginning, but it should be a more railroady one, so if I wind up with more free time I might start it before this one ends).
If you guys had actually talked to Shaorhaz, he would've sent you on a quest to collect angel wings. Still got a bit more planar plot planned, but also still planning to end this campaign around level 20, at which point each of you guys should have become essentially a campaign end-boss.

Anaxian, the Fractured Wyrm |

Anaxian, I've been redoing my sheet, and I wanted to ask, what was that item you gave us all that allows us to see through the endless smoke?
Fogcutter Lenses.

Summoning: Let's see if I can standardize it a bit.
Typically, fiends can summon 1/day, for a duration of one hour. The success rate is dependent on whether or not the summoner can find a demon who wants to show up (so in the case of custom summons, we'll say 75% for creatures helpful towards you, 50% for friendly, and 25% for neutral).
Basically, trying to get a general rule from existing summons gives you three options:
-Summon one friendly outsider of equal or lesser HD
-Summon 2 outsiders of your HD -5 or less
-Summon 3 outsiders of your HD -10 or less
Hey Dapper, this was from awhile back, when I asked about Dris getting summoning abilities for being a daemon(ish) now.
Should I come up with an actual set list of what I can summon? Ie, 1 Phasmadaemon, 2 Derghodaemon and 3 Suspiridaemon?
And am I summoning based on their CR(which is what those above Daemons are based on) or their HD(which would be vastly different)?
I would prefer based on their CR, as that just tends to be easier to look up.
Edit:
I had totally forgotten to had this into Shim's stats, though I likely had it on his master sheet on my old laptop. This was a solution Dapper came up during an argument where I was feeling inadequate around Anaxian and Inubrix.
Shimsil
Minor Artifact, CL 20, Strong Transmutation Aura
Priced as normal
Additional Effect:
A character with the ability to acquire an Improved Familiar or Cohort may instead choose to forge a psychic bond with the sword. To such a wielder whose goals match its own, Shimsil grants enhanced speed and accuracy, merging the sword's own senses and combat skill with his own. When attacking with Shimsil, a bonded wielder gains Sneak Attack as a Slayer of his level (HD/3).
Would I thus only gain sneak attack as a 5th level slayer, which is +1d6? My HD is 17/3 is 5.

The Dapper GM |

Feel free to create your own summoning list! If you do it by CR, let's make the adjustment (based on various modifications to CR by party circumstance):
-One friendly outsider of CR ≤ your level -2
-Two friendly outsiders of CR ≤ your level -5
-Three friendly outsiders of CR ≤ your level -8
HOWEVER: Note that that's "friendly outsider"—as in one you've met, and are on positive terms with. It doesn't have to be a daemon; you're not currently an agent of the horsemen, so you'd need to get permission to summon specific daemons (for instance, from murdering a bunch of good guys in the appropriate ritual way). It would be easiest to negotiate a treaty with Hell (offering something in exchange for a steady list of summons, though you could also summon the current ambassador), but you could also try to enter negotiations or get an embassy with Abandon.
* * *
The slayer thing is that a slayer's sneak attack is HD/3; so at 15th level, that's +5d6.

Anaxian, the Fractured Wyrm |

I think one of your summons should be our friendly Succubus down in Drow-ville

Drisquar |

inadequate around Inubrix? Laughable.
You were going on about being some sort of Megatron/Galvatron triple changer combo, with a possible vehicle mode thrown in for good measure.

Inubrix |

yeah, but considering present company, that is like being Hawkeye in the Avengers.

Drisquar |

I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of explosions and the deaths of those who oppose you.

Drisquar |

Nah, Anaxian is Soundwave, what with all his 'cassettes' lol

Anaxian, the Fractured Wyrm |

That's... Kinda accurate.

Out of sheer curiosity, mind explaining the 'feed via Astral Projection' concept?
Astral Projection has a target of you(caster) and willing subjects, meaning I do not believe they can be dominated/charmed. And with the target of 'you', how would you create a device that targets others?
Edit: For Shimsil's special purpose, how about defeat/slay enemies, since that follows the other similar purposes?

Willingness is easy to get around. If there's a section that says charmed/dominated wouldn't make someone willing then I am unfamiliar with it. There are lots of options either way. Charmed, dominated, or braindead would solve the problem easily enough. If not then old fashion coercion would do it. (I.e. I'm going to start pulling fingernails out until you're willing)
Target isn't really an issue if you're making a magic item. Like most magic items it would work on others, not just itself.

Drisquar |

Dapper, going back to the summoning, officially you summon others of your kind. However, since Dris is a fallen Brilani, that doesn't exactly work. Hence, my wanting to summon Daemon, as they're the NE fiends.
If, on the other hand, you'll allow me a custom summons list of any/all fiends, that's awesome and totally acceptable.
As for being able to summon Daemons and needing to on friendly terms with the Horsemen, sounds like a freakin sweet side quest!!
Edit:
Edit: I did a search, and can't find any rules regarding cohort creation. How should we handle such? Normal NPC stats? A lesser point buy?(the same as us?), NPC wealth for their level+spending our own wealth on them? PC WBL?(Which should just be the standard, vs our somewhat higher amount)
They would be level 14, right? And they get +2 template for free or no?

Illia- |

I believe we get them at level 13 (our level of 15 without the +2 free template -2), no free template, with no gear, save what you give them out of your budget, with the heroic NPC stat array unless they are a monster, in which case, use the monster's stats.
That's what I remember and have on my design notes for my cohort.

The Dapper GM |

Sorry! Had a busy weekend.
@Astral projection: Astral projection isn't a teleportation effect, and neither is shadow walk. Blightburn crystals (found in the black desert) block all spells with the teleportation subtype. Ergo, they can astral project and shadow walk—but a well-constructed wall on the shadow plane, which could be constructed by one plane shifter with a lyre of building (so long as they had the approval of the locals) can shut down shadow plane.
Astral projection is much harder to stop, which is why the vampire uses it. Previously, none of the illustrious and ancient drow had thought about astral projecting their "servants" as a blood source, but the mechanics check out. Sure, "willing" is a requirement, but when a bunch of liches and vampires hold a magic knife to your face and say "astral project with us our else," you go along with it.
@Shimsil: Yeah, that's fine.
@Amaven: Yeah, now's as good a time as any.
@Summoning: Yeah, you can get a custom summons list of all fiends—with the requirement of "you need a specific fiend of that type to be willing." I guess cohorts probably qualify as well, if they're otherwise left behind in the village. My rationale is that fiends normally summon others of their type because they serve the same cause, and those are demons/devils etc. they'd normally "command" if on their home planes.

Drisquar |

And cohort creation rules? Was what Illia said correct?
One minor issue, if that's accurate, is that not giving cohorts any wealth other than our own, makes them pretty useless.

Illia- |

I would strenuously disagree with idea that that makes them useless. Mine is doubling my per turn action economy, and more than doubling my maneuver pool, granting me feats, and providing a giant hitpoint buffer, and will in two levels be able to do that from anywhere on the same plane.
~~
If I ever get around to finishing picking said maneuver pool, that is.

Meredian Adriatnaic |

A cursed item ( let say a large dining room table set. One in a demiplane and one on the prime where the forced astral projectors land ) can get around the "willing" aspect of the astral projection spell. It's even be thematically appropriate in this case.
Just saying. It's magic and you can get around most things.

Who wants to be a god?
Oh man, I've got a character from a deity game that never really got off the ground. May just have to bring back Atheos, God of Atheism.

I LOVE that and wish I thought of it.

Atheos, God of Skepticism |

Origin: Once, the being now called Atheos was a powerful wizard and philosophical orator, known far and wide for his teachings of skepticism, reason, and the scientific method. Upon his death and disappearance, he discovered to his dismay that many of his old followers had begun to worship him as a god—and to his further dismay, he had somehow become one.
Holy symbol: A blank, featureless rectangle
Holy sites: "The Island of Korsolis, birthplace of Atheos and the state he once led, was once considered a holy site of Atheism, and featured the first temple to Atheos ever built. Immediately after its completion, the temple was struck by lightning and burned to the ground. A second, larger temple was built; this too immediately burned to the ground. The third temple, built of fire-proof volcanic stone, was destroyed by an earthquake before it was finished, and lightning struck the construction scaffold, leaving scorch marks on the scattered stone. The High Priest of Atheos, at this point, declared that clearly his god did was opposed to the building of a temple, and was also struck by lightning, leaving him forever burned, scarred, and scared to ever talk again; the next High Priest said nothing on the subject whatsoever, and finally Atheos was satisfied (or so the priests assumed)."
His paladin code was fun to write, I just took Sarenrae's and replaced "people" with "books," although I'm pretty sure Paladins of Atheism are just medieval redditors.

Oh, also Atheos was once invited to another god's birthday party, and he showed up an hour late with a Sphere of Annihilation as his "date". When asked why, he replied "it's a dangerous object of great power beyond its intelligence, that only consumes what it touches without truly understanding, yet when it meddles in the affairs of mortals it is both destructive and unstoppable, just like the rest of you."
Nobody really seems to get along with Atheos except the extremely lawful or extremely chaotic gods.

Xanos |

Wow. This character of mine is essentially that god's herald. He'd hate to be called that though. He wouldn't worship at all, but Atheos would be pretty much the only god that Xanos would get along with.
Athiesm in a fantasy setting where the gods are tangible is pretty weird. It ends up being anti-theism (which in my opinion is way more fun)
