DM Aku |
Hey, welcome!
Post here if you have any doubt about the game, also, take this time to make any last minute adjustment to your hero. If you guys want, feel free to talk among yourself and discuss skills and roles for the game.
Also, I tried to select a good mixed party. A friend of mine will be joining the game in a couple of weeks, after she finishes her travels. She’ll play an alchemist, and I know the role has some overlap with the Hedgwitch proposed by David and the Elementalist by Ventiine, but I think it’ll all work out in the end.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask it out.
Viklop "Vik" Kolavar |
Thank you very much for choosing Vik. I just noticed that he is able to take Weapon Finesse as a free feat, allowing me to take a new feat..which I will do before we start. Was there anything else about my character that might need fixing?
Vik will be a frontline fighter and is very into one-on-one battles, so he may not jump into a fray with everyone beating on a single person as it is not his style (but will call out the enemy to do personal combat with him!)
Rendyl Millary |
Yay! Thank you for the invite, DM Aku! Looking forward to the game.
As for roles, Rendyl would do well in scouting and tracking, will blossom into a superb archer (I intend to go the archery track, especially with Vik in the party), and can offer frontline support if needed. As he learns tricks at higher levels, he will probably take ones that help his allies to hit their opponents or hinder their enemies.

Awesome! Thanks for choosing me, really looking forward to gaming with you all.
In terms of party role, Djebelle is definitely not the skill monkey; she has pretty good sense motive, though, which might be useful in social situations.
In combat, she'll use her spherecasting to boost her sword, shield and armour which will make her a reasonable front-line fighter. She can also offer healing.

Avengers assemble!
Now that everyone has reported in, couple of things that should be noted about the game.
I’m striving to keep more of a sword and sorcery feel to the game. Magic is somewhat scarce, and as you have already seen from spheres of power, without advanced talents, magic is not part of the daily life.
That being said, the versatility of pathfinder spells will still be available on the game in form of rituals, but even so, try to keep a “magic is not a daily commodity” feel to it.
Things that would be good to have on this game:
I would love to not have the game hung on rule discussion every time something new or different happens. If you plan to use something out of the norm, or your class has some different mechanic, provide the details when using those abilities.
Let’s focus more on story building than rule discussion, let’s have fun, let's create a kingdom, kick doors, take names and rescue the damsel in distress (unless the damsel is bait :D)!

Also, for those interested, Damiel posted this before on recruitment, but here is the BB Code Profile Template from Spheres of Power
Also, not sure if anyone not knows about this, but you can always check all your games under your profile page:

@DM - works for me! I prefer roleplay to rule lawyering any day :)
That said, SoP is relatively recent and there are bound to be rules combinations and scenarios that just haven't come up before in any of the playtests. As long as we're all grownup about it we should be fine. DM has final say as far as I'm concerned.
Really looking forward to this!

Thanks all!
I apologize for all the typos and grammar and overall language butchering. Most of the time I have only my phone to post with and the results are never pretty.
DM Aku |
Urgh. Between copy pasting from MS Word and last minute editing on Paizo Forums, I screw it up. Sorry.
You meet few travellers on the road, band you areyou attacked by any wild beast or bandit.
The correct should have been:
You meet few travellers on the road, and you are not attacked by any wild beast or bandit.Rendyl Millary |
I might be jumping the gun here, but as far as watches go, I think Vik and I should take 2nd watch, since we are the only non-spherecasters of the group. I don't know much about SoP, but I'm going to assume there's a rest requirement just like in Pathfinder. That way 2 can be on 1st, then 2 on 3rd, and they all 4 can get 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
Thoughts?
Rendyl Millary |
Also, I will be attending DragonCon starting August 31st thru September 4th. I fully intend on checking in and posting, but if I fail to act in a timely manner please feel free to DMPC my actions.
Rendyl Millary |
If we try to pair up by Perception score, we could do this:
1st - Vik +0 and Damiel +7
2nd - Rendyl +4 and Hylaen +6
3rd - Djebelle +4 and Tegan +5 (this would allow Djebelle to be up at sunrise)
Thoughts on this arrangement?
DM Aku |
I've placed the tokens on the map based on the description of your actions in gameplay.
Tegan is ahead of the group because she is the one calling at the gate, while Viklop is slightly away because he said he would investigate the walls;
You should also be able to move your own token around as well.
Rendyl Millary |
Yeah...I was like halfway through my 'hope I make this situation better' post and then we're in combat. Lol I guess our friends in the keep weren't the 'forgiving the lovely lady who has uncontrollable elemental powers' sort. Oh well, ooc we knew they were bandits anyway, am I right?
DM Aku |
I think I may have made a mistake in my last post. I don’t think I roll to hit for Crystal Blast. I think it’s just an aoo that happens on the square Tegan targets and then whatever is on the square makes a Reflex save or gets entangled. THEN, if they fail the Reflex save, the character makes a Strength or Escape Artist check to try and avoid the damage. So they only take the damage if they fail the Reflex save AND the Strength/Escape Artist save. (Also, regardless of the roll outcome, the square the spell is cast on becomes difficult terrain until the terrian is dealt 3 damage.) Is this correct? I’ve never played a magic user before D:
The Crystal Blast talent changes the effects of the blast, but it still follow the blast rules (Close Range, Touch attack). The enemies are entangled if you hit your target, and the enemy fails to save reflex, but hitting it or not, the crystal affects the area you attacked, making it a difficult terrain for 1 minute.

Hey Guys, Aku here.
Please format your quick status bar using this one as example.
HP 111 | AC:25 | T:13 | FF:23 | CMB +11 | CMD:23 | Fort:+10 | Ref:+8 | Will:+5 | Init:+12 |
After initiative, you can set up any other information relevant for your hero.
This format allows me to quick gather the character information by looking at the Characters tab without needing to consult the full profile every time.

@Viklop
Please check the Intimidate skill description.
You need at least one full minute to change the opponent’s attitude and to use it in combat to Demoralize the opponent is a standard action, or a full round action if you are using Dazzling Display.

@Viklop
Power Attack (Combat)
You can make exceptionally deadly melee attacks by sacrificing accuracy for strength.
Prerequisites: Str 13, base attack bonus +1.
Benefit: You can choose to take a –1 penalty on all melee attack rolls and combat maneuver checks to gain a +2 bonus on all melee damage rolls. This bonus to damage is increased by half (+50%) if you are making an attack with a two-handed weapon, a one handed weapon using two hands, or a primary natural weapon that adds 1-1/2 times your Strength modifier on damage rolls. This bonus to damage is halved (–50%) if you are making an attack with an off-hand weapon or secondary natural weapon. When your base attack bonus reaches +4, and every 4 points thereafter, the penalty increases by –1 and the bonus to damage increases by +2. You must choose to use this feat before making an attack roll, and its effects last until your next turn. The bonus damage does not apply to touch attacks or effects that do not deal hit point damage.
+2 Power Attack, +2 Strength, +2 using sword with 2 hands
Altho the result will be the same, your individual math is somewhat off: Using the sword with two hands, your STR damage is 3 (2+1), and your Power attack Bonus is 3 (2 + 50%) as well, the ‘bonus’ with two hands is added directly into the power attack and STR.
I’m not sure how is hero labs changing the damage, but if it’s bumping to 3, when using the two hand grip, then it is correct.

Love the visual of the bandit riding away on the stolen horse! :)
Vik - did you teach it the "heel" or "come" tricks? Might be the best way to get your horse back.
