Heya, I'll get a first post up shortly. Feel free to make mechanical adjustments.
Thanks for the selection!
Unfortunately, I don't know enough to know I should change. :)
However, I've read that it's really hard to make a bad PC from a mechanical POV so that's good.
Once I know more, I may ask to tweak my PC but we'll cross that bridge once we get to the river.
BTW, I really do like what I've read so far and am seriously thinking of switching over to this system for my future games.
Is this a good forum to discuss similarities/differences and pros/cons of 5e or will this derail your game too much? I would love to hear and learn from those that are already playing and GMing the game.

Kriv, I think that's a cool idea if you are willing. There is also a magic suppression field in effect for casters.
Also, I wanted to list the preliminary roll results. Khaz and Edlethron were brought in together, and the rest of you might have made contact before game starts.
Vic, 10 days, 5' rope
Kriv, 7 days, 1 gp
Froog, 6 days, 5' rope
Gael, 4, no item
Khaz, 1 day, no item
Edlethron, 1 day, no item
Cade, didn't roll in recruitment. Its d10 for number of days, then roll d20 and add to days for item.

Gael, about 5e system that's fine with me just try to keep it here in discussion. I used to be a PF diehard but 5e has really snapped me out of it, I almost can't bear to go back. It's so much easier in 5e to make the characters I want to play.
Also fine about tweaking later. Warlock is pretty straightforward at least in the beginning, I think you made some good choices. It would help to know what kind of capabilities you are going for. I was going to ask about something more along RP lines, about your patron. Do you want me to make something up there or did you have a specific patron in mind?

That's what I am thinking myself. I am currently running a PF game where the PCs are 10th level and the dice rolling and buffs are just killing me. :)
I really dislike the abundance of magic items (throw away magic items) and the fact that the 'bosses' of the 1st book are 'low life mooks' a couple of books later.

No one in particular in mind, just some strange entity from the 'dark between the stars'. I'd love to hear if you having something in particular in mind.
BTW, I can also see your slides.
GM Infinity
Great, tokens you can move will eventually be on slide 1. I like to use the nice grids from 5e Beyond for looks, but I'm not super picky about grid in combat. Larger avatar pics will be march order (which is up to you guys). Second slide is mostly for me, char stats and profs.

First time I'm playing one as well. My favorite character was a monk warlock that only made it to lvl 6. When I first played 5e I thought it was great, it's way more streamlined than Pathfinder for sure. Unfortunately my irl group all wanted keep playing PF so I've gotten rusty on my 5e rules. I do remember using minor illusion a bunch though.
@Gael, I have an app on my phone that does pretty well. It just called 5th edition character sheet. It's free to make lvl 1 characters and if you toss the developer a couple bucks it'll let you level up as well.

Excited with the selection! Thanks Infinity.
Need to run to work. And I've parent-teacher conferences tonight, so maybe a post late.
Are there any PCs who want to connect backgrounds? Wood elves? Explorers who are obsessed with the Underdark?
Let's brainstorm before we introduce ourselves in Gameplay.
cheers
Victor "Vic" Lofliss
I can certainly connect with you as a Wood Elf. My background as starting in Cormyr is pretty detailed in my profile.
@GM Infinity: Can I use the rope as an improvised whip? I assume it could obviously be used as a garrot.
GM Infinity
Vic, good thinking, that's totally ok. No proficiency bonus on attack roll, d4 slashing. As garrote, just do a normal grapple.
Cade, I wanted to make the d20 roll for a wild surge a little more pbp friendly. Is it alright with you if you just always roll d20 (5% chance) when casting 1st or higher?
Edlethron
Edlethron's family (father, mother & sibling) was ambushed and captured by Drow, so he's been obsessed by the Underdark. However, he's been too young to go. His actual name is Gilavar, but he calls himself Edlethron (Exiled) to prevent Drow from using his family or him hostage against themselves.
He just passed his coming of age ceremony, so he's 100. Now, he's actively searching for underdark entrances, in order to rescue his family.
Let's make them cousins. Let's connect Ed's family's capture to Vic's family's indebtedness. What do you think?
Ed can be younger than Vic and went to live with the unrelated grandparents to be raised.
It would be great if Vic recognized Gilavar and started calling him Edlethron, so he ended up taking that nomme de guerre.
What do you think?
When did they last see each other? Under what circumstances? What do you want Ed to know of Vic?

Nice post in gameplay, Ed, like the direction you took with it.
thanks!
@Vic, sounds like a plan

That works for me. That's what I hoped. Though my intention was to push Tides of Chaos which triggers a surge on my next 1st or higher spell to get Tides of Chaos back without rolling for the chance.

Assuming Components would be needed. Any chance there is a bit of leather around. Second any chance any of the rags are fleece.
GM Infinity
That's right Cade, no components or arcane focus in your possession at the moment. But Kriv's muzzle is made of leather. Fleece comes from wool though, I'm pretty sure sheep explode the instant they touch the Underdark. In all seriousness there is likely a substitute from spider silk.
You guys will have a chance to scavenge a bit more soon, sleight of hand or distractions being your friend there.
The cell itself has some kind of anti-magic field though, but you might experiment with its exact nature...

A couple of questions:
Is there a free website with rules like http://www.d20pfsrd.com/ or Archives of Nethys?
I did find these two: https://5thsrd.org/ and http://www.5esrd.com/, but neither one seems to be complete.
Is there an official forum for 5e like this website?
