I just happened upon this thread last night but didn't have time to post anything. Reading over the synopsis I thought of making a gnome cleric of Lathander. He's traveled to the underdark as part of a misguided missionary trip to spread Lathander's light into the dark places. His group was attacked and he was captured. He has no idea of any of the others in his group made it out alive.

Background

Spoiler:

Froog has traveled to the underdark as part of a misguided missionary trip to spread Lathander's light into the dark places. A couple days into the journey his group was attacked. Not being much of a fighter he hid as the noise of the fight washed around him. Suddenly the battle was over and he heard the sounds of containers being opened and their contents ransacked. Moments later his hiding spot was discovered and he was wrenched from his hiding place. All around were the bodies of his friends but he only had a quick look. He has no idea of any of the others in his group made it out alive.

Personality Trait – I would rather make a new friend than an enemy.
Ideal – What is beautiful points us beyond itself toward what is true
Bond – Everyone deserves a chance to come to the light.
Flaw - I speak without really thinking through my words, invariably insulting others.

Heck I would want him in my company just for his name!! lol That is a REAL 1e gnome name...maybe he knows Beek Gwenders of Croodle or perhaps Fonkin Hoddypeak...haha!

Classic...

GM:

Please consider Gael for inclusion in your game.

This will be my first 5e game so I'll need some help with how the game plays but I am excited from what I read so far. However, I'm no stranger to RPing or PBPs.

I've spoilered his information below. I usually write additional background if selected in the form of flashbacks but, quite frankly, I don't know the game world well enough at this time. I'll of course make an avatar if I am selected.

Let me know if you have any questions at this time.

Thanks for hosting!

----------------------
BACKGROUND - OUTLANDER
----------------------
Origin: guide
Feature: deep delver
You have a knack for making your way in the deep places of the world. You can recall the twists and turns of passageways and tunnels such that you can always retrace your steps underground. You're also well acquainted with foraging and survival in the Underdark, and can determine when sources of food and water arc safe to consume. You can always find sufficient food and water for yourself and up to five other people in the Underdark, as long as sustenance is available in the area.
Personality Trait: I'm driven by a wanderlust that led me away from home.
Ideal: Change. Life is like the seasons, in constant change, and we must change with it. (Chaotic)
Bond: You were once lost 1n the Underdark, and a group of kuo·toa helped you find your way out. You learned that there are kindly folk even among that otherwise mad race, and remain indebted to them for their aid.
Flaw: I remember every insult I've received and nurse a silent resentment toward anyone who's ever wronged me.
Backstory:
Gael worked as guide for local hunters who wanted to get a taste of the deep caves near his home.
His father is rumored to be some important elf but his mother never told him who he really was.
He wandered further and further away until he came back from one trip only to find that his mother and aunt had been taken presumably by a drow raiding party.

After some fruitless searching, he managed to lose himself in the Underdark. That was when he started hearing whispers that did not make sense to him but led them deeper and deeper underground. With the whispers came power and he soon made a pact with this otherworldly entity. He wished for enough power to either free his mother or avenge her.
The half-elf still heeds the calling of these whispers making him look and sound crazy to those around him, something that Gael does not care to disprove.

The half-elf has a wiry body and his skin has been kissed by many suns making him look older than he really is. He normally carries a short bow and skinning knife and is dressed for outdoor travel.

rolls:

scavenged: 1d30 ⇒ 3, nada :)

I stumbled in late. The sight was down and I lost my submission. I was getting a halfling wild magic sorcerer into the mix.

Indeed, its been nasty tonight. Would love to see a 5e wild mage, hope you stick it out.

Liberty's Edge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

A troop of little people...gnomes and halflings unite...lol

A few hours left on submissions. Will make choices later today. I realize people are probably travelling etc, but hopefully we can get started soon.

I have a character partially made but can't finish it until later tonight. So I suppose I won't be in the running. Have fun all!

Gnomes, halflings... And dwarves!

Hi this is Gnomezrule's submission.

I need to tweak the history because when I tried to play this character before he was a human with the Folk Hero Background. I wanted to change things up for this campaign.

Tough to knock out 4 from these 10, I'll have it soon.

Khaz Dourblade, mountain dwarf barbarian (Grumbaki)
Kriv the Exile, blue dragonborn fighter (Werecaster)
Froog Nackle, forest gnome cleric (natloz)
Victor "Vic" Lofliss, wood-elf rogue (Filios)
Gael Lloris, half-elf warlock (Fabian Benavente)
Cade Whistler, halfling wild mage (Gnomezrule)

I hope my current players aren't hurt they weren't chosen (Galenus in particular has been owed a dwarf for a while). You guys are awesome, in the end I just thought to give some new guys a chance and it made sense with the numbers/composition.

Please check-in to the discussion thread when you can.

*ahem* Also taking Jubal with Edlethron the monk. Omitting him from the list above is the first of many oversights on my part I'm sure.

Cheers :D

Good luck all and have fun!

No worries!

I've run the game before, so I'm not missing out.

For those who've never played OotA or gamed with GM Infinity, you're in for a wonderful treat! Best of luck escaping the underdark! :)

I finished up the background so there have been some changes. Nothing huge just justifying outlander over folk hero. And made him a halfling peasant rather than a human peasant.

Congrats to the othrers who made it this should be fun.

Days: 1d10 ⇒ 2

A spider. . .

Awww...I liked Galenus. Would have been fun interaction.

Thanks for including me in the Campaign!

Yeah, I killed bookrat's dwarf when I was being a moron a few months ago. Really wanted to take all but 10 would be a lot, and not interested in 2 tables. Plus, double the stonecunning would be way overpowered. ;)
