Am I closer, it's not far from my turn, I still have both 1st level slots available? I've been moving up every round - though my 25ft move speed is slower.

Lantern Lodge

Svalva, I think it was a question, with another single move that would put you 25 from Thorgrund and 45 from Adyl.

Ok, I think what I'm going to do is move closer and sling another rock at...whichever dog I can aim at who seems the most wounded.

Kelend walks up to the alpha dog and attempts to wrestle it to the ground!

Grab Athletics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Shield Push Athletics Bonus Action: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

"I'll hold him down, you guys beat on him!"

Wow, nice rolls! Looks like I am able to grapple (unless he rolls really high athletics/acrobatics) and then probably enough to push him prone. Since he is now prone, I believe he is stuck with actual disadvantage and has speed 0 from grab so he can't stand up, right?

Lantern Lodge

Male

Kelend, I am going to have to take your first grapple attempt only since it does not count as an attack, therefor you cannot shield push as a bonus action because you did not the qualifying prerequisite.

Resist Grapple: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Kelend has the Alpha in a headlock.

EDIT: Just reread it, it does count as an attack so he is grappled, with a speed of 0 and prone. He is at disadvantage on attacks, and others attacking him are at advantage.

EDIT 2: You are still 50 from the alpha, I dont think you can reach him this turn unless you double move.

The jaws of the Alpha leave little more than a harmless scratch. Adyl plants his foot and brings his axe down in an overhead chop to return the favor.

COMBAT OVER

Thank you for your assistance, says the half-elf, my name is Beralt, an initiate in training to the emerald enclave. I was sent by my master to invesitage rumors that some of the local wildlife have beeen behaving strangely. I was tracking the pack of dogs when I found them attacking the boy.

For rescuing him and the boy, Beralt gives the characters a potion of healing (if he did not use it in the combat) and a vial of alchemist's fire. He also offers a silver sickle worth 50 gp, and he puts in a good word for them with the Emerald Enclave if they would like to join. After that, he leaves Pynroth in the characters' care and goes on his way.

Finally, if any unaffiliated characters wish to join the Emerald Enclave, Beralt happily sponsors their membership.

What does alchemist fire do in 5E?

Lantern Lodge

Male

From PHB 148, 151
Alchemist’s Fire. This sticky, adhesive fluid ignites when exposed to air. As an action, you can throw this flask up to 20 feet, shattering it on impact. Make a ranged attack against a creature or object, treating the alchemist's fire as an improvised weapon. On a hit, the target takes 1d4 fire damage at the start of each of its turns. A creature can end this damage by using its action to make a DC 10 Dexterity check to extinguish the flames.

Kelend nods, Glad we could help, friend. We heard the commotion and came to help. Perhaps you could help us figure out what is going on here. We ran into a guy that died in our arms. Older but not too old. Seems he was stabbed maybe? He mentioned a riddle to us?? Anytime recall the riddle?

HP 2/15 | AC 15; Saves STR, CON; Perception +2; Init +2

"There is a message from this land's new master, but it is hidden five-fold.
New Master?
The first is at the place where dandelions rise above and cover the people. The virile and the virulent can be one and the same. The hell-tinged one is lost, and then several are found.
Farbough Farms. It must be!
The second runs red with the blood of roots, where an heiress lies and hides her pain in long wooden boxes. She hides more than that though, but only to keep what is hers.
Beets? Goodroot, perhaps?
The third is at the spring of blessed life, where the haunters protect and the protectors haunt. The water runs on, of course, and must be freed for all.
The Spring of Blessed Life. Rumored to be haunted.
The fourth holds the great thundering beasts, but the beasts are gone, to give way to a greater thundering beast with death in its eyes. They await at a place of ancient elven evil.
Rothés? Undead?
The fifth lies where the ancients lie beneath night's marble, forgotten but not gone. The lost wealth of a forgotten time pays terrible dividends now.
A temple of Waukeen? Definitely not Tymora…"

"Or something like that..."
