The specifics of the hex override the general rules of natural attacks.
White Witch specifically just adds prehensile hair as a natural attack, without the commentary on it being a secondary attack. Ergo, the hex, having specific text saying it's a secondary, makes it a secondary.

I get to go home for the weekend today, and have one last (hopefully!) trip next week for a couple days (Monday-Tuesday). May my almost constant traveling for work be over for a couple months.
Cathran Ingwood |
Aurora, if she's with us, is a front-liner.
Well, she's not a pushover, certainly, but she's actually an archer. That said, her crazy-high stats make her effectively as strong as Cathran right now. :P
mdt |
I love the discussion. :) Nice to see such stuff in the thread. :)
I will advance us when Eva has time to level up this weekend. I don't want to get into fights built for 4 or 5 3rd level characters with 3 3rd levels and a 2nd level.
We'll assume Aurora is 'holding the approach' to make sure nothing sneaks up from behind on the investigative property.

Bah, humbug! :D
This isn't about how she spent her feats, it's about capabilities. Aurora whips a scimitar at +5 with 1d6+3 Damage and that doesn't include her smite. Toss in her decent armor and HP... and she is a front-liner, certainly more than Lineera.
Eva Elsington |
I believe Eva is now fully updated. ^^ Sorry it took me so long to do this weekend.
Eva Elsington |
I will play catch up this evening and get a post up as soon as I can. I got home last night from a solo trip exhausted. Good news is, I get to be home a week and a half before I travel again! I'd rather not travel, but I'm going focus on the more positive aspect of a week and a half not on the road!

Lineera Vonnarc |
*Pats mdt on the shoulder* there there, we'll find 'em! He's just testing our Perception scores. ;)

I find it sadly ironic that I put in a whole building full of sneaky thief stuff, and our sneaky thief type seems to have vanished.
Vanish is what sneaky thieves do! But he better show up before Mahb decides to have a go at the lock. She gets notoriously cranky when traps go off in her face.

I am sorry. Unexpected craziness at work. I expect things to slow down now.

Sounds like my job, except it's becoming the norm for it to be crazy, and every time I think it's going to slow down, something makes it go back into crazy.
Eva Elsington |
It has ^^ I've been on a sewing marathon all weekend. I feel I made good progress ^^ And it was nice to get to work on something for me and not even have to think about work ^^
Cathran Ingwood |
You said it. My weekend was crazy busy. If anyone here works in the service industry, you have my thanks and awe.
Riley "Lucky" McCormick |
Sorry. I am returning from being out of town (Memorial Day Weekend). I had expected time to post or I would have left a message here. I'll catch up tomorrow. Sorry!
Cathran Ingwood |
So there is! Is it behind the stairwell?
Cathran Ingwood |
All right, here are my thoughts on the gear we just found:
Mitral chain shirt: It appears that Riley has one of these equipped; I'm not sure if he had one before, or if he's claimed this already. Otherwise, myself or Lineera could use it if we wanted to sacrifice AC for speed (although I think I'll be keeping my breastplate for now, and maybe hold out for some mithral medium armor). It would also be good for Aurora, whenever she gets the chance to rejoin us. Lastly, I'm not really sure what the rules about inappropriately sized armor are, but is there a chance that Eva could use the chain shirt as a chain dress? :P
+1 shield and +1 light hammer: These seem basically perfect for Lineera.
Arrow of Giant Slaying: The first choice would be Aurora, but should we face any giants without her, I think Riley is the best one to hold on to this (technically Cathran has the same to-hit with ranged attacks, but I don't actually have a bow...).
Lineera Vonnarc |
Sadly, I'll have to disagree with Cathran's assessment. Lineera isn't proficient with Martial Weapons, and her current shield, a Darkwood Heavy Shield, is actually statistically identical to the +1 Shield. Me thinks we either have Cathran or Riley take them as a set of weapons to switch styles/damage type as needed, or just consider those loot items.
Cathran Ingwood |
Ah, I forgot your shield was darkwood. Well, we can at least try to sell these, or trade them in for other magical armaments. The light hammer seems like it could be a good back-up weapon for any of the front-liners. Riley is the only one who currently has a bludgeoning weapon, but it's also a sap, which is worse than his sword when fighting the usual skeleton-based need for such things. So I don't know if we should use it now, maybe just keep it around as a throwing weapon. :P

I'm currently reeling from some major bombs work dropped on me Monday. They were the kind to mess over any non-work plans. I also have to travel, again, next week. All of this work related craziness is taking it's toll on me, so if I take a bit to respond, you know what's going on right now.
Eva Elsington |
I've looked around a little, though nothing serious. I'm feeling very used and abused right now. And right now it's my mental health taking the biggest hit right now, hence why it took me a few days to say something. I know my physical health can't be far behind.
Lineera Vonnarc |
Hang in their Eva, I've been their myself, and I'm backing MDT on this. If anything mental health comes first in my book.
Lineera Vonnarc |
Hey everyone, just dropping this message in all my games. I'm heading into the mountains on a camping trip come tomorrow, and I'm going to be entirely off the grid as it were. I won't get back till sometime Sunday afternoon. Bot me as needed, and I'll see you all when I get back.
Riley "Lucky" McCormick |
Sorry everyone. I have been on a trip since Saturday and I expected to have internet access. I have not had it. I would have given a heads up had I known it would be a problem. I return this evening and will catch up!
Eva Elsington |
Letting everyone here know, I've been sick with something (possibly a cold) that kept getting worse since I got home last Sunday. I did go to the doctor but they didn't really tell me what it was besides just give me some medicine for it. I'm better today but I'm still not well. Seems my body finally gave out and got sick as all the travel ended, possibly in relief?
mdt |
Probably. Your body can only take so much stress. No worries, as I said in the other thread. As long as I know. We'll just put the game on hold until everyone can post regularly for a couple of days. I'd rather not get Lineera and Mahb killed in a TPK, even if Mahb is ok with that option. :)
mdt |
I'm hoping whatever happened to Cathran and Riley is temporary. It's been less than a week since we heard from either of them. Hopefully they'll both be back within a week. Eva we all know is hit or miss thanks to work.
If we hit the 3 week mark, we'll discuss what to do about the game.
mdt |
Hey everyone, so, we have good news and bad news simultaneously.
I've heard from Cathran (MechaPoet), and she's going to need a hiatus from the game for awhile. So, with Aurora now down for almost a month, we're basically down to Lineera, Mahb, Eva and Riley. Now, we can continue on with just them as far as I'm concerned, although you are a bit light on muscle. I'll need to rework the encounter we're in now though, with the loss of muscle.
I think what I'll do for now is have Cathran and Aurora get pulled away on a different part of the mystery as a team. When they can return, we can bring them back in (leveled up as appropriate.
My question to you as a group is, do we want to try to bring in another player to fill in the muscle role? Or continue with a rogue and 3 magic users? And if bring in another character, continue the tower now, or wait for the new player. I might have someone who'd enjoy this game.
Mahb |
If you know a player that wouldn't mind filling in as a front-liner, I say bring him/her in. That seems an easier solution than you having to tweak a large chunk of a module to compensate for a caster-heavy party.
I wouldn't mind waiting for Player X to come on board to continue.
mdt |
Welp, I reached out to him to see if he was interested, and he is. So if there's no objections, we'll get him to join in. I'll do a 'wall of text' shortly to explain Cathran and Aurora heading out to check on something.
I'll work with the guy to bring his character in so it makes sense.
Lineera Vonnarc |
Well, I know we had some hopefuls that still might be wanting in, and at this point, I think the writing's on the wall with Aurora at the least. At this point, I'd have to say let's go ahead and try to get a replacement worked out, and just figure out what to do later if it Aurora's life stops kicking her when she's down.
I know there was a certain dwarf ranger who was on all our short lists who may be interested. :)
Lineera Vonnarc |
If you already got someone in mind, that works for me, I misinterpreted that you were going to have to put out feelers to find someone first. I think I'll say let's just pick up +1 for now so that we don't get a 7 man party once Cathran comes back.
mdt |
Hey, but they have so much in common...
They are both alive (mostly)...
They are both not gods...
They both have white hair...
They both have.. uh... ok, I'm drawing a blank beyond that, but I'm sure there's something else they have in common...
