Okay, just so the party can see what I crafted for both mine and party use:
Sunrod (10) - 66.7 gp total - 1 day to craft all
Acid (5) - 16.65 gp total - 3 days to craft all
Alchemist Fire (10) - 66.7 gp total - 9 days to craft all
Cure Light Wounds CL 1 Potions (6) - 150 gp - 2 days to craft because of spells per day limit
This comes out to a total of 300 gp 5 cp
Also, are people using the Platinum line as in Gold or as the total Platinum count? Because I think the math might be off in our loot sheet if it is. Actually taking a good look at the sheet, I think our math is really off in the coin counts. >.< I'll do some thread research to see if I can fix this. Because I think the numbers as a whole were added together, not in their coin value breakdowns.
EDIT: Yes, we are off >.< It appears that the number for the quantity of each coin was added together instead of by their value for the total. I started from the ground up to check. I don't know the breakdown to change everything, just the total value. Perhaps that it is because I've always treated it as the coin count and not the value when I break things down this happened in the first place. I have not taken my crafting cost out of the total yet because I noticed it didn't look right when I went to deduct it. First time I've had a chance to take a good look in a couple months.
Lineera Vonnarc
Yeah, according to our coin counts, we should have about 1579.42 GP on hand, my guess is that Cathran has been deducting from the total but not from the individual columns? Or vise versa? I was pretty sure we were lower on cash than those numbers suggest.
Eva Elsington
I have 1508.42 GP based on what has been spent. The total has been off for a while now. But I may have deducted something twice. Or added something wrong.
I have 1276.42 from us leaving PP, we gained 1737 gp from selling things.
This puts us at 3013.42 before any expenses in Rozenport.
- 273 gp for Luther goods
- 369 gp for Lineera's purchases in Rozenport (wasn't sure if personal gold was used here or not)
- 698 gp for the party purchases
- 50 gp for the animals to go to Vauntil
- 120 gp for the six of us to travel to Vauntil
Putting total at leaving Rozenport at: 1503.42
+ 25 for animal passage cut in half
+ 60 for our passage cut in half
- 60 for our passage to Calaphis
- 20 for animal passage to Calaphis
Putting our total at 1508.42 gp total. I don't have an exact break down right now. But would someone care to double check my math?
This does not count my crafting cost, nor the few things I bought in Vauntil. I went to make those changes and noticed the values seemed off.
EDIT: On another note, need to make the following change to what I crafted.
Add 4 more days of crafting time total into the time I spent crafting in PP, this is to make 2 more acid flasks (1 and tiny piece of a day), 2 more alchemist fires (rest of that piece of day and another day) and 2 potions (took one day) for Cathran. Just wanted to keep track of my time spent crafting.

Math looks good to me, Eva. Guess we're a bit better off than I thought! And yeah, Lineera doesn't really have any left over personal gold besides chump change at this point, so I did have to subtract that from party funds in general. Needless to say, I've got enough gear to last me quite some time, so others should take point on any gold expenditures for a while. :)
Cathran Ingwood
Glad to hear from you again, mdt! I was actually going to do a check in post, telling you to take care of work and sleep, etc., and that we'd be here when you're ready. But I guess my timing was a little too late. :)
Eva Elsington
Made changes to the sheet to reflect the correct amount and now you only have to change the number of coins in a field or put in the total gp value of gems, and it will calculate the final amount on it's own.
I am going to take out the 300 gp 5 cp for the alchemical crafting and the 145 gp for two level 1 alchemist formulas for adding to my book and that portable Alchemist's Lab. Adding Comprehend Languages and Expeditious Retreat to my list.

Be safe driving and take care of yourself. Travel can be exhausting, let alone traveling while sick.
Cathran Ingwood
Looking forward to your return!

Unexpectedly had to unpack today. We're not moving again at the end of the month after all, so we get to not live out of boxes anymore! Will get a post in tomorrow. :)
Lineera Vonnarc
Wheee! Hooray for not moving... again! Moving's such a chore, glad to hear you don't have to go through it again so soon.
Aurora Beldusk
YES! I have internet again!
Just when I thought I was starting to get a grip on my life again... the area where I live was hit by a minor flood. Fortunately damage was very minimal (thank god!), but a small landslide did break a major gas pipe, and severely F@!*ed up phone and internet services.
As it turns out, they were working on the line when the slide it, and they had to wait for the emergency to pass AND for the gas pipe to be fixed first before restoring everything else.
Add to that that my provider took its sweet sweet time to restore my service even after basically every other provider was done with it, and here I am today, tired, frustrated, quite a bit pissed (since unfortunately due to this I actually missed the deadline to send a curriculum for a nice job position I believe I'd have had an actual shot at getting... -.-'), but finally back on track! ^_^
I need to run right now, I have a job interview, but as soon as I get back I'll try to catch up with the game and post something!
With all my apologies (but it wasn't my fault, I swear! :o), it's good to be back! :D
Lineera Vonnarc
Here, here! I was afraid we had lost you to the ether, glad to see you're still with us Aurora
Cathran Ingwood
Glad to hear from you again! Good luck with your interview!
Cathran Ingwood
Hey y'all, sorry for the absence. It's been a mix of fatigue and work and not feeling so hot, but I'll try to get some posts up soon.
Eva Elsington
So, almost had to travel today and tomorrow (found out yesterday morning and had it canceled late yesterday afternoon). I do travel Thursday through Monday for work. Work is not giving me much spare time, overworking all of us here in the office. I'm exhausted and trying to not get sick from all of this. I'll post when I can, but I wanted to let you know what was going on.
Lineera Vonnarc
Blegh, sorry to hear that Eva. On this note though, I was wondering if we'd possibly want to introduce some combat proxy? Since it seems we're all taking turns getting brutalized by work or sickness/whatever, it may be worth considering so that we'll at least know that we're not tying up the game in a meaningful way. But can still pop in and play a round/give advice to your proxy as to what to do next IC. And be able to pick up and carry on when you get back.
mdt obviously has the final word on anything like that, but if for whatever reason I do fall off the map, I'd be ok with anyone taking over Lineera for combat at least.

Hey guys,
This is just a heads up to let you know that I'll be going on a trip starting Friday afternoon and coming back on April 21st. While away, I'll have limited internet access and my day/night cycle will be reversed. I'll try to post when I can but I can't promise it will work out well. So, feel free to NPC or DMPC my character as you wish to keep things moving along. Thanks!
Eva Elsington
I know I've been really silent lately. I've been traveling, and just trying keeping from being exhausted all the time. I've been trying to post where I can, but I've not been good about getting everywhere. Especially here.
That said, I travel this week, tomorrow through Thursday, and next week, Monday through Friday. I'm not sure how much time I'll have to post, or when it'll be. It depends on how the trips go.
Cathran Ingwood
Sorry you haven't been feeling well! Looking forward to your post when you feel up to it! :)
Lineera Vonnarc
Seconded. Feel better and take care of yourself! I'd rather you only post when you feel like it, I've generally seen the most drop in participation on these games when people bludgeon themselves with consistency until it becomes a chore. Always eager for the next update, but always willing to wait.
Cathran Ingwood
I love how cheeky Mahb is. :P
Cathran Ingwood
Ok, I need to know what the group is going to do. Mahb it looks like, is not considered part of your group. Are you going to head into the swamp directly, or try to explore the town more?
I think Cathran has had quite enough of this town. :P
In all seriousness, though, I think that unless we need supplies, we should head to the marsh--once Mahb is with us again. If it's late (what time is it exactly here?), we should try to find a decent spot to make camp. I'd also like to take the requisite 12 hours of non-strenuous activity/rest to heal this nonlethal damage, unless we just use Eva's daily healing extracts before we go to bed.
Aurora Beldusk
I'm writing this for every game I'm in:
A few days ago, a very close relative was diagnosed with the initial stages of a very serious disease, and my family and I are trying to cope with what it's going to happen.
It's been a AWFUL few days, and I'm sorry I didn't post anything but saying I was crushed would be an understatement.
I'll try to sort through the posts since I was gone later today and post something in the gameplay thread tonight.
Thank you all for your patience with me.
Lineera Vonnarc
Seconded, sorry to hear that Aurora, don't really know what else to say, but hang in there.
In other news, sorry I'm a bit slow in passing right now, got distractedand forgot I hadn't weighed in on things.
But I'm of mind with Cathran, Lineera's got enough gear to make a stay on the edge of a swamp somewhat close to pleasant, and she's got little enough reason to stay in town, so I'd say that's where we should go.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
As the party prepares to spend their first night in the swamp (presumeably at Agnes's old hut, which is sturdy enough), an imp appears in front of them wearing a zoot suit and smoking a large cigar. He pulls out a scroll, and reads from it in a voice that sounds like Jackie Gleason.
"Ahem, I say, Ahem. Let it be known, the Lord High Demon has decreed thy shall not proceed deeper into the swamp until thou hast reached 3rd level." He rolls the scroll up, shoves it into his inner jacket pocket, and then blows a huge puff of smoke at the party. "If I was youse guys, I'd just lie and say I was 3rd level. Takes for freakin' ever for the paperwork to get processed, and nobody ever really checks anyway." The imp then vanishes in a puff of smoke.
The cigar floats in air for a second, smoke curling up from it, before it drops and hits the floor.

Actually, I cut my teeth on FASA's StarTrek, but I played AD&D very briefly in College, a few months. Mostly it was GURPS and Champions and Star Wars and Shadowrun.
However, I did read most of Robert Aspirin's books when I was younger, as well as Craig Shaw Gardner's and even the Xanth books.
Eva Elsington
I'm semi back. On the road again, this time with a 12 hour drive. I'll be so glad when all this travel is over. This trip and one more and then I should be done traveling till end of July (for work that is).
I'll try to have Eva leveled up soon. Spent my weekend home to clean and repack for this trip.
Mahb
@MDT - yep, yep. I am not surprised. There is a distinctly 'old school' feel to Illmarsh that has me fondly recalling my first campaigns. Ah, Champions... that was a fun game.
Apologies on my slow character level up. I was initially planning to go with something of a standard set of choices for a caster... but now I'm considering a far more 'witchy' bent to the thing. It's making me seriously debate my spell choices (I get 2nd level spells this level) and my feats. I'll make a decision today.
Cathran Ingwood
So many posts! Sorry I've been absent over the weekend, spent some time with my fiancée's very trying relatives...kinda sucked all the effort out of us.
Cathran is now updated to 3rd as well! I've chosen Forest as her first favored terrain, despite having just arrived in the swamp. :P If that was a terrible mistake and we're never going back to any forests ever again, let me know so I can pick something useful.
Edit: Hey Mahb, should your new Prehensile Hair be doing more damage?
"If a creature has only one natural attack, it is always made using the creature’s full base attack bonus and adds 1-1/2 times the creature’s Strength bonus on damage rolls."
"Some creatures do not have natural attacks. These creatures can make unarmed strikes just like humans do."
Mahb
Sadly, it isn't that straight-forward and there is a matter of 'which source trumps the other'. Had I gone with White-Haired Witch... you'd be correct. But the Prehensile Hair Hex says "...can use it as a secondary natural attack that deals 1d3 points of damage".
And when we look at secondary natural attacks rules, it says "Secondary attacks are made using the creature’s base attack bonus –5 and add only 1/2 the creature’s Strength bonus on damage rolls". So my lovely INT based attack (+5) is nullified by the -5 penalty, and my bonus DAM goes from +5 to +2 (1/2).
I'm assuming the Hex definition trumps all other rules... and this really shows why the White-Hair Witch variant is so much better with hair-care products. :) Had I figured that all out before I built her, I might have gone another way with her build. Yesterday, I was actually looking for an obscure feat that might improve Mahb's hair attack, changing it to a primary natural attack or something equally as funsy... sadly, no luck.
Still, Mahb's hair does have a CMB of +6, a 10' reach, and a 20 STR grip. Had that bar battle started going seriously wrong, I planned to have Mahb step in... in a rather dramatic and disgusting fashion. :D You know, something utterly Mahb-like and vile.
Cathran Ingwood
Well, it's a secondary natural attack, but because it's your only one, it gets treated as primary (unless you get a primary natural attack or use a manufactured in the same full-attack action). I bolded that last bit, because I think unarmed strikes don't count as natural weapons.
