Welcome to Starfinder Society Boon

Per the Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide, page 46-

*A player may apply the Welcome to Starfinder boon to their first character (XXX-701)

Notes:
This boon does not need to be the first boon applied to the character. While designed for new characters, it is helpful at any stage of playing. It may not be applied to any other number character.

We are working on a way to restore erroneously deleted characters. If a player deleted their -701 character, they may send a request to pfsreportingerrors@paizo.com and we will restore the character as soon as we have the means to do so.

Thank you, Tonya.

I have never seen the pfsreportingerrors@paizo.com email before. I'm noting that one down, since it is a perpetual question!

Query: will the rules for Welcome to Pathfinder boon be changed so that it may be applied to XXX-1 characters when they are other levels, or is the application at all levels only true for the Welcome to Starfinder Boon?

Hmm

Liberty's Edge

What is this trading thing mentioned in the upper right corner?

Sovereign Court 4/5 5/5

Believe its one of the ways management is trying to track boon trading, and it is on the default template for all boons. I'm going to assume we can't trade the welcome boon :)

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 ***** Venture-Captain, Minnesota

Welcome boons won't get traded, but other boons might. They've standardized the formatting of all the boons to make recording the trading of them easier so that this is easier to track.

I would like to note that while I appreciate it, several of my players have taken the -7 preincluded in starfinder chronicles as a challenge to eventually have enough characters to be forced to cross that off and write -8.

Grand Lodge 4/5 **** Venture-Captain, California—Sacramento

Can we release the Welcome to starfinder boon to our store orgainzers?

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 ***** Venture-Captain, Minnesota

Now that it is listed officially on the forums by Tonya herself, you may distribute them. Or just link to her post!

Hmm

I feel like the answer is implicitly obvious, but I know I am going to be asked:

In "Spellgem Cache" what level is the Mystic Cure spellgem? I assume I can't use it to cast Mystic Cure L4 for 7d8 + my Wisdom modifier on a PC who died last round and bring them back to life.

Huzzah and thank you, Tonya! :D

Printing a huge stack for our location!

I really like the updated template too.

Thanks Tonya! These are awesome. I'm also a big fan of the new trade friendly format.

Sovereign Court 3/5

I've seen other special boons that require some kind of Venture Officer to sign them. Does this boon work this way too or could i sign the boon off as a GM for my home group playing SFS?

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 ***** Venture-Captain, Minnesota

Any GM can sign welcome boons.

Hmm

Have the GM running the first table you play your 701 at sign and number it.

Note that, as HMM points out, the SFS version of the boon does not need to be applied to a new PC.

It does have to be applied to the -701 but it does not need to be applied immediately. The player can hold off applying it until later in the character's career. So I would not actually put a number on it.

Grand Lodge 4/5 **** Venture-Captain, California—Sacramento

What would be the advantage of not immediately applying it?

Sovereign Court 4/5 5/5 *** Venture-Agent, Nebraska—Omaha

It's not like you could hold off and put it on a different character instead.

Maybe one of the items on it you want to use but can't really make good use of it until you multiclass?

I am not really sure why to wait, just saying that Tonya pointed out that it does not need to be applied immediately.

If you play a few games before you see it, you can still apply it to your character, rather than feel sad that you missed out. There really is no reason to wait once you have it.

Sovereign Court 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 ****

It means that you can attach it to a -701 that was played before the boon was officially released

Grand Lodge 4/5 **** Venture-Captain, California—Sacramento

I suppose if you weren't sure about what you were planning to do with the character, it might make sense not to apply it until after your level 1 rebuild.

Liberty's Edge 1/5 5/55/55/55/5 ** Venture-Captain, Illinois—Fairview Heights

The language for not immidiately requiring it to be applied directly affects players at my Store. We ran 4 SFS tables prior to this being released. If it was not allowed to be applied "later" then there would be no way for them to apply it to their -701's that are now (in some cases) already level 2.

There aren't many benefits to delaying application, but it prevents punishing early adopters who waitied for the 0800 Pacific "legal to run SFS" time from being penalized for supporting the organized play program as quickly and early as possible.

Dark Archive

The Welcome to Pathfinder boon had a clause that doubled the number of uses for the chosen boon after applying a GM chronicle to that character. I notice this isn't included in the Welcome to Starfinder boon however.

It is true for both of the Welcome boons. While intended to assist new players, the Welcome boons are available to all (and should always have been so.) It just doesn't do as much for a character with stuff.

So despite being around for longer than the Welcome to Pathfinder boons, I could still take one and apply it? I assume it would still have to go on my -1, who's now level 12, but technically allowed?

Will we be able to restore erroneously deleted PFS characters as well or is this feature just for -701's in regards to the Welcome Boon?

I too am hoping for more detailed confirmation of this. Free stuff is still free stuff, regardless of how high level a character is.

I feel like a bit of a dummy, but with the forums being so text-centric, it was not immediately obvious that the first line of the post was a download link.

The tool will allow for any character to be recovered, PFSRPG, PFSACG, or SFSRPG.

Yep!

This is big. Will the information about the Welcome to Pathfinder be updated to make this point clear? I am one of those who asked for the boon when it came out but was told I could not get it because I was an established player.

Note, I am not asking for the boon to be updated, just the information about it.

You can grab the boon here. It's currently hosted on the GM Prep site.

Im grateful for this thread because even though I have been playing PFS forever and now I have the Welcome to Pathfinder boon.

2/5

So quick question, may be aa dumb one. But does everyone get this boon? I have been playing PFS for years.

So can I use this boon too? or is this just for the brand new people who never played society before? Something for the PFS boon. When I joined I never got one, as far as I was told there are relatively new.

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/55/55/5 ****

Yes. See earlier post from Tonya.

They unfortunately haven't started recovering the 701 characters yet (One of my players accidentally deleted theirs). It doesn't seem like that big of a loss, but it'd be nice, certainly
