OK Crimson, shall we?

Given things like what has been posted a few places about Arueshalae, I've been toying with the house rule that Succubi can't control their Energy Drain (or at least not without making a Will Save or something), but their type of Energy Drain is not lethal on its own -- it can make somebody more vulnerable to being killed by something else (possibly done by the Succubus/Incubus(*)), or it could put somebody over the top if they were already compromised by something else, but otherwise it stops short(**) (and at this point usually tends to quit feeling satisfying to the Succubus/Incubus, thus encouraging them to do something of more deadly finality if they no longer need their victim and their cover for something else). In addition, the drain is not necessarily unpleasant to the victim, and not necessarily even very obvious until the victim tries to do stuff (hence not being overwhelmingly likely to cause blown cover), and it is possible (although not very likely) for a victim to recover on their own, given enough time and some good luck with their Saving Throws.

(*)Also house-rule that Succubi and Incubi are like female and male Lashunta in Starfinder -- they can both end up with the same ability score ranges, even if one of them is not the most common for each. This is useful for those that want to get really serious about their grappling.

(**)Always leaves 1 level/hit dice without a corresponding negative level, and always leaves at least 1 hit point above 0 -- even if they fail their Save to control it, kissing a 1st level Commoner won't be fatal to the Commoner, but also not very satisfying for the Succubus/Incubus.

I believe we shall. Are you preordering the Playtest, or just going with the PDF?

PDF, unless I am persuaded otherwise. Unless the new edition turns out to be horrid, I'll pick up the core rules next year. I'm not sure if I'll get the chance to playtest or not.

Well well well, while getting ready for the testing, I just noticed, the energy drain RAW states "mortal", not "target". This brings up some interesting complications for and against existing arguments.

All too often BBEGs have immortality, therefore would not qualify as 'mortal'. Also, I believe a couple APs are broken by this, due to the energy drain being the specific challenge to deal with despite immortality/non-mortality.

I'd noticed this before as well. I still need to look at the wording carefully for certain class abilties (alchemist, wizard) and the mythic rules, but it may turn out that high-level characters with the given abilities are unaffected. 'Twould lend credence to things like powerful magi with succubi harems.

I'll say, this thread's got holding power . . . .

(I was wondering if anyone would, ah, pick up on that. Seems it was blaphers who, erm, rose to the occasion!)

And that little discovery just might make certain encounters trivial.

Spoiler:
In Rise of the Runelords, when you need to get the component to make a Dominant weapon, instead of killing the succubus Mistress or gambling on saves, just use a Wish or Limited Wish to get a few minutes of immortality, rendering you immune to the Energy Drain effect, and then enjoy the 2d10 rounds of 'payment'.

Based on our first experiments, you're right. It's also a convenient way to rest between said acts. Or sometimes all you can do when you're...ahem.

We're talking succubi in grapples....

Grapple = hold onto.
Cuddling and hugging = milder version of holding onto.

Step 1: The false sense of safety.
Step 2: She then grips you tight.....
Step 3: Level drain!

Grapple = Grabbing onto someone and doing some wrasslin'

Cuddling and Hugging = rolling a nat 1 on your CMB check.

*checks raw data from previous experiments*

My, with all those repetitions, we did roll a few natural 1's didn't we?

But the lovely succubus holding you in her arms, is what matters in the end. :)

Look, all I'm saying is there are quite a few six year old alu-fiends running around doing druidic stuff these days. What did happen between the succubus and bear druid? Guess the world will never know...

^Bear hug?

Some of those alu-fiends are hunters, slayers, and bloodragers too y'know. Maybe even a shifter!

So, while we watch the science show, how 'bout we order a pizza?

Wait, does this mean that large size succubi really do have more fun?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Have more fun, are more fun, tomato, tomahto....

Really, it just says a large succubus presents a larger meal....

Succulent.

(Get it? Meal? Succubus?

Has anyone considered the possibility of what kind of negatives the druid would take and how long they might survive when grappling a succubus underwater?

Well, assuming our Druid is level 9 then can cast Deathward, with 20 Wisdom you can cast it twice per day for 18 minutes of sexy fun. 11,000gp gives you an Extend Metamagic Rod that provides you with 36 minutes of unf unf.

Now, if you are a DEATH Druid you not only get a Phantom but you also can ignore the Death Ward requirements since at level 9 you get complete immunity to energy Drain. Which gives you 3x Wild Shapes of 9 hours each in which you can enjoy yourself down under. That is already more boning than you have hours in a day. However, if you are an Amphibous Undine you don't even need to wild shape. You can stay underwater forever and as an Amphibous Death Druid you ignore Energy Drain while staying under water.

Of course, as a 9th level Death Druid it doesn't matter where you decide to have fun. Mid air copulation? A ok. Underwater, Sure thing. IN SPACE? Yep, you can turn into an elemental for 27 hours a day and Elementals don't need to breathe. INSIDE THE VERY SUN ITSELF????, Yeah, again, be a fire Elemental and you're immune to Fire. Succubi are also immune to fire, so there is no problem there.

Of course, at that point you've mid session with a dead succubus because they have to breathe and also take cold damage. So space and the sun actually require THE SUCCUBUS TO ADEPT TO YOU. Rather than the other way around.

That is why Death Druids are the best Druids.

Well it wasn't a grapple, but I did have Delavhine from ROTRL cast Grease on the Dwarven cleric's holy warhammer. I really should have thought more about the phrase "She greases up your hammer." Good luck continuing a serious campaign after that.

This sounds like a job for that Half-succubus Merfolk Boreal-Sorceress I rolled up.

If it weren't you posting that, Crimson, I'd say someone was pulling my leg. Or Ravingdork. I'd believe it of him too.

Welcome back! Try not to wander off again, ok? Thread's less fun without you.

Is that one of your kissing cousins, CrimsonVixen? Must have had a fun time rolling. But, hay, you'll tell us all about her, right?

If you want, I can see if I can locate some Scrimshaw from some seafaring masters. Maybe she would like to pose for some*. I'm sure I could arrange that also.

*Not easy finding a suitable PG image.

Poses are available to be done, perk of being able to change shape. As for wandering off, it's hard work to find Sorshen clones these days!

I suspect you can find use for Possess Object on some of the toys you have.

Liberating Command might be good for escaping those tight and binding clothes.

Hey, gotta have some thread to lighten things up around here. Gotta offset the 'PF 2.0 is the doom of all mankind' or whatever we've got going this week for drama.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

As long as succubi can continue to grapple bare druids, PF2 has to be doing SOMETHING right!
