The inquisitor is only proficient in the specific types of bows listed. Some bows (such as composite bows) have special rules that allow you to use them if you have another proficiency, but that's a function of the weapon, not a class's proficiency lists.

Yes, but it's not something that gets repeated in public.

Probably the most shamelessly fanboyish thing I've done in a game was to make a demon lord out of a combination between a ninja and Freddy Kruger. The latest incarnation of that demon lord (see Inner Sea Bestiary) dials back a lot of the ninja and Freddy stuff he had originally but it's still there if you look hard enough.

I guess statting up Hastur as a Battlesystem unit was pretty fanboyish too. Or statting up the alien from Alien as a demon. I've done plenty.

I must at some point meet in person and buy you sufficient tribute alcohol/caffeine/street tacos? to learn this secret, not for blackmail purposes, but because those are the sorts of tale that give all manners of awesome psyche insights.

Also, I don't think that's as much fanboyish as, in the alignment charts, Chaotic Awesome. My metaphorical hat is doffed.

Next up - coming up with a time machine and stupid amounts of fundage to make Unspeakable Futures happen so I can have my perfect Silent Mobius game system

Funding Unspeakable Futures isn't a problem. I'm pretty sure I could get enough money to fund it by doing a Kickstarter for it. And I'm relatively sure I could even get Paizo to fund it if I really pushed hard.

The issue with Unspeakable Futures is that preparing it is a BIG DEAL; I've got about 90,000 words written for it, but that's only about half the total content I'd need to generate to make it be the product I want it to be. It's currently missing all the new monsters, all of the world content, and chunks of gameplay rules for the environment, all of which I simply ad-hoced or did impromptu during my games. And that doesn't even touch the editing, development, layout, art, printing, and all that—much of which I would also be involved with, since it's my own project and not something I'm doing for Paizo.

At this time, I do not have the time in my schedule to take on that level of responsibility. I probably WON'T until I either cut off all of the freelance work I'm doing for Paizo, or just up and move on to another job. At this point, neither of those options are really on the table in my mind, and so my work on Unspeakable Futures is limited to fits and starts where I can snatch free time and the creative energy to do so.


James how hard is it to buy a potion of Magic Vestment +5 from a shop? it cost 3,000gp but requires a caster level 20 to make it, is it really that hard to find? which cities are able to sell me these kind of potions?

It's as hard as the GM wants to make it. While it does require a 20th level caster to create... potions don't spoil. The potion of magic vestment +5 you see on the shelf of a magic shop for sale with a 3,000 gp price tag on it might have been created yesterday by a 20th level cleric, or it might have been created 11,000 years ago by an Azlanti priest, with the potion having been found at some point by an adventurer or explorer who then sold it to the magic shop where it ended up on the shelf before you.

Since potions don't spoil, you've got the entire history of your campaign setting to justify when the potion might have been made.

As for what cities are able to sell these kind of potions... again, that's up to your GM, but any city that has a base value of 3000 gp or less could theoretically have one for sale.

That said... I've never been a fan of letting players just buy ANYTHING they want. If you're buying a bog-standard potion at minimum caster level, no big deal, but if a player wants to buy something more special, they need to look for it (aka get permission from me to buy it). Even better, I'll present to the players a list of what items a local magic shop has for sale.

1) They exist. There are monsters in the Inner Sea region that essentially utilize psychic magic as spell-like abilities—intellect devourers and neothelids come to mind. You can basically assume that psychic magic is somewhat more common in the Inner Sea region than are intellect devourers and neothelids as a result.

2) E) All of the above. As with divine magic and arcane magic, the way a character gains psychic magic will depend on the class they choose and the background for the character they create.

3) I would abandon the point-based system entirely and present psychic magic in the same way we do divine magic and arcane magic—with a few new base classes that range from full casters (probably with a prepare-ahead-of-time one and a spontaneous one) to hybrid casters like the bard and the inquisitor to dabbler casters like the ranger. Psychic magic itself would be expressed as spells.

Also, I've been looking at the firearms rules in Ultimate Combat. With the "Guns Everywhere" option it says that firearms become simple weapons. Does this apply only/primarily to advanced firearms, or to all?
What about the classes that don't get simple weapons proficiency (druid, monk, wizard), should I add some firearms to their list of weapon skills? It makes sense to me that a wizard could carry a revolver (Murlynd from Greyhawk...), but what about the other two?
Are there any classes that do have simple weapons proficiency that shouldn't have access to some or all firearms?

Lastly, what changes should I make when running a common gun game to reflect the shift from melee focus to ranged?

In addition to what JJ said, note that there are various ways to boost caster level that can allow lower-level casters to cast low level spells at higher level than they actually are. Using some of those could mean that a potion with a CL of 20 could be brewed by someone who is not level 20 yet.

Not a fan about being called Jim. I'm okay with very very few folks calling me that. They know who they are.

Guns Everywhere makes all firearms simple weapons. You shouldn't add them to druids or monks or wizards. But remember that since firearms make touch attacks... having a low BAB isn't a big deal...

My number one bit of advice for anyone who wants to makes guns common? Let Natural Armor work against them. Or otherwise bolster the game's touch ACs.

Hello James, if I use Polypurpose Panacea with Touch injection to an opponent do I get to choose the effect?

It doesn't specify it on the item description, it only says ''single dose of poison, a potion, alchemist infusion, holy water, or similar liquid as long as the liquid would not harm the gloves, the wearer can deliver the dose to a target as a melee touch attack. So I was guessing that you could use anything has long it doesn't damage the gloves.

These gloves do not interact with spells at all. They only allow you to add poisons, potions, infusions, holy water, and other liquid to an unarmed strike or natural attack using the hands. You can still cast touch spells, but you can't add any of the liquid effects to your touch spells at all.

James its an old question that you answered,

(1)Which infusions can I use on poisoners gloves? can I use a ''true strike infusion'' or a '' targeted bomb admixture infusion'' on the gloves and deliver these spells to someone with a touch atttack? They are personal spells and it is why I am asking.

(2)You has a DM, would you restrict or completly bann ''Bag of holding'' + ''Life Bubble'' cleric spell combo so players can't craft inside a bag of holding and take advantage of it? do you think its overpowered? would you bann the bag of holding or restrict it so ''NO LIVING THING'' can enter inside of it?

(3)You has a player, how would you make a familiar usefull? is he only good for scouting and thats about it? is there anything else he can do besides the static bonuses that he gives to his master? what would you personally do with a familiar?

(4)Fiendish Heritage feat says that it gives you 2 diferent options, one take a Tiefling variant from the first table which gives you diferent stat bonuses and the second would be to choose or roll randomly from the 100 diferent abilities from the second table.
So my question is, once I pick this feat at level 1, can I stick with the original Tiefling stat bonuses(+2 dex/+2int/-2cha) without taking any of the 10 demon variants heritages but still take one of the 100 variant abilities offerd in the second table?

I'm really excited about the upcoming AP, "Wrath of the Righteous".

In Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Mythic Monsters Revisited, one of the statted-up unique creatures is the corrupted phoenix Pyralisia (p.50-51). Based on her backstory and ties to the Worldwound & Mendevian Crusades, is there a possibility that she (& her mate Garidor) might appear (or even be mentioned) in the WotR AP?

Just wondering... What, with the theme of redemption going for the AP (or, at least, one of them), she seems like a good fit for it...

So, the army of Qadira is noted at clocking in at 100,000+, which can be further swelled by conscripts and slaves. The shtick of the Taldan army is noted as being underfunded, but still impressive, and further potent enough to hold its borders. Certainly they've at least been powerful enough to have discouraged a Qadiran invasion to this point.

How big an army do you figure that would have to be to be managing that, as far as the hosts of Taldor?

Can an Alchemist apply Clustered Shots feat to his bombs?

Its specifically says damage reduction and not resistance, in which case a Fire resistance would still apply per attack, right? So I could only apply the optional rule for Massive damage I guess.

1) You can use infusions that target other creatures with the gloves. Spells with a range of personal don't do it.

2) A bag of holding isn't big or convenient enough inside to craft comfortably in. A portable hole is, though. I don't have a problem with using life bubble plus a portable hole to set up a portable crafting station.

3) A familiar is useful for roleplaying first and foremost. It's useful in that it gives you a few bonus feats' worth of boosts to skills and the like as well. And as it gains levels, it's useful for delivering spells (remember you can deliver beneficial and helpful spells to allies this way) and for scouting. As for what I'd do with a familiar... depends entirely on the character and familiar's personality.

4) You can choose the generic tiefling as your heritage.

5) Yes. I might or might not make them undergo some additional quests or tasks to get it started.

No two kids are exactly alike; as with anyone else, their interests vary. I've said this before—I was reading Stephen King and Clive Barker (books provided me by my grandmother) at about that age, so some kids are fine with mature content, while others aren't mature enough to sit still long enough to play an RPG of ANY type.

That said, the Beginner Box is your absolutely best bet. It's designed specifically to be visual and tactile and easy to learn from.

Flip-map basic is the one I use the most. I don't use the map packs much at all. I prefer drawing my dungeons out, and I prefer to use tac-tiles for that. Now and then I'll us a flip-map that matches closely my needs for an encounter, but I almost never repeat use there.

There's not really any relationship at all between giants and titans on Golarion. Titans spend the bulk of their time on other planes.

Without a super-robust set of rules for mass combat, and without an extensive gaming background in mass-combat wargames, I can't really answer that question. At this point, the answer is merely, "As big as it needs to be but not one soldier more."

By being one of the richest nations in the region, first of all... and by using other methods to pay for their troops.

And keep in mind that the mass combat rules in Ultimate Campaign are NOT INTENDED to be the solution for Pahtfinder and Golarion's big wars and standing armies. They're a narrative solution to scenes that involve the player characters in mass combat as adjuncts to the main storyline and adventure the PCs are on. We may at some point in the future attempt to use these rules or build entirely new rules to model and track nations' armies, but they'd have a lot of new adjustments to those rules since an NPC nation has a lot different requirements for game play than a PC.

It varies. I don't want to say TOO much about how nations pay their troops, since I'm not ready and don't have rules to build off of... but they (and other nations) would keep their troops via a combination of money, pride, patriotisim, fear, religion, promises, guilt, favors, magic, insurance, and more. Same as in this world.
