An affected creature moves and attacks at a drastically slowed rate. Creatures affected by this spell are staggered and can take only a single move action or standard action each turn, but not both (nor may it take full-round actions). Additionally, it takes a -1 penalty on attack rolls, AC, and Reflex saves. A slowed creature moves at half its normal speed (round down to the next 5-foot increment), which affects the creature's jumping distance as normal for decreased speed.
smaller slother viper - bit malcolm
Argrim - moved and missed the smaller snake
Vatilda - murderous command on small snake
larger sloth viper - bit karnog
Kalim
Sheyan
Grunt
Malcolm
Karnog - owes DC18 Fort save, hit large snake 4 HP
The small viper moves towards the larger viper. Provoking AOO from Agrim, Malcolm, Sheyan, Grunt and Karnog.
You really don't know what Vatilda spoke/cast on the small viper. To you it looks like it could be retreating. You've seen her speak nonsense before so I'll let you roll as straight intelligence check to figure out that she cast as spell on the viper.
Malcolm hit with the AOO and kills the small viper. Thus, the viper never did perform the murderous command but other than Vatilda the group would not have known why it moved towards the other.
Yes I'll use your out of order awesome crit roll on the large snake Karnog.
smaller slother viper - moves but draws multiple AOO and then dies

Karnog - hits and crits for 23 HP on large viper.
The rest of the evening goes by uneventfully. The next morning begins Grunt explains, "We git there today...we git out of swamp by mid-day then it's half day walk." He fidgets a bit shifting foot to foot. "What happen to Grunt when he gits y'there?

"I agree. You have behaved honorably, even assisting in combat as it became necessary. I'll not be calling you friend any time soon, but you've earned your freedom in my view."
Grunt breathes a noticeable sigh of relief. As promised the group finally exits the swampy area, the land around the area has rolling and rising hills. By late afternoon about 2 hours before dusk you see observe, about a mile or so away, what is known as the Cloister of the Frog-God standing on a desolate ridge overlooking vast swampland. Grunt would relay a story that it has been present since time immemorial. The cloister is still several hours away.
After another hour you come to a rising path that leads up towards the front gate. The path is worn dirt with an assortment of stone mixed in that provides some texture and support when it rains. There are an assortment of wild bushes, cypress trees, flowering weeds and worked stone along the pathway. It has been a long time since this entry road has been maintained.
Argrim checks the front gate for traps and alarms.
"Anything more you can tell us Grunt?" After the reply, he suggests that they return his gear and get him to promise not to tell anyone about us.

"The direct approach, then? Ask nicely if they would return the farmers without further trouble?"
Karnog snorts quietly at the thought of that working, then shrugs as he considers the benefits of it did. Regardless, he grips his hammer and buckler tightly.
