I have no problem, by the way, if you guys want to read the Orc spoilers. Grigorii is doing a great job with his dialogue with them! Just keep player knowledge separate from character knowledge!

Hah, you gave an excellent set-up for the "hot, local cuisine" line.

Grigorii, here's your first song request. I'd like to see you write a song with the line, "I'd like to butter your buns."

Any variation on that theme, really! :D

Challenge accepted.
I came here on the morning tide
The ranger says when you gonna find that girl that you eyed
Oh baker dear we're quite the fortunate ones
Half orcs, they want to have fun
Oh I wanna butter your buns
My steel rings in the middle of the fight
The Ifrit yells what you gonna do with your life
Oh Tabi dear you know you're my number one
Half orcs, they want to have fun
Oh I wanna butter your
That's all I really want
Some buns
When the working day is done
Girl - wanna butter your buns
Half orcs just want to have fun
Some boys take a beautiful girl
And hide her away from the rest of the world
I want to be the one to walk in the sun
Half orcs, they want to have fun
Oh I wanna butter your
That's all I really want
Some buns
When the working day is done
Girl - wanna butter your buns
Half orcs just want to have fun,
Wanna butter your buns,
Wanna butter your buns...

Very nice, Grigori. My review of your song...3.75 out of 5 stars.
| GM Hmm |
Oooh.... We always knew that Shel was a tough audience!
Nice job, Grigorii!
BTW, I've been having fun teasing Shel for her snottiness. The RP in this group has been a lot of fun.

Shel is more of a fan of the opera, than base pop music, thank you very much, lol. I need something more refined to give a score in the 4's...

@Grigorii: I cannot like your song enough! That was the best thing to happen to me today.

Inwardly, Shel would love it. Outwardly, she would probably clap her hands twice, a rare outburst for her.

[nitpicking]It would actually be the Phantom of Karcau, most likely. The Countess is essentially Christine and the story of Phantom of the Opera happened in her backstory.[/nitpicking]

Ahh, but the Taldan nobility don't find Ustalav as romantic a setting. The theatrical adaptation of her life is set in the capital city.
My rogue played Darkest Abduction at GenCon!
Shel Whispertongue PFS

Darkest Abduction was one of my least favorite PBP scenarios so far. We all wanted to simply scry and teleport to the end but we were scared we'd lose our PP. We did it the old fashioned way and still lost a PP! That one frustrated me.
Juniper Berrythwaite
|
Spoilers, please? I haven't played that one.
Kiku Caritas

I wrote a review of it in which I gave my opinions on it.
I really just want a Karcau scenario that knocks it out of the park. It's the coolest city in Golarion and it's gotten two deeply flawed scenarios :(
| GM Hmm |
Unique mechanics in scenarios can be really tough to layout and explain without losing story immersion. I'm really hoping I succeeded here! Have fun figuring out who to influence and what skills to use. You all have a plethora of options here!
EDITED to ADD: The scenario does allow you to substitute in an odd skill to replace those listed if you can justify it storywise to the GM. Like, um, Profession Chimney Sweep...
Kiku Caritas
|
You did great! I think it's important to let people know which skills are possible in these situations, as the characters should have an idea of which option they would be best at.
I love skill substitutions! They are especially good when you have people with weird craft and profession skills :D
I was once at a table that had "use whichever skill you can justify" with someone that had Craft (jams and jellies), Craft (balloon animals) and Profession (villainy)
Bonus points if you can guess who the character was supposed to be
Juniper Berrythwaite

May we Take 10 on any of these checks? I'm asking because I am likely to be trying to use Aid Another for the next two phases (either with the Battle Plan, or sweeping the chimney), and if I can Take 10, then I auto-succeed.
Grigorii
|
You can use Diplomacy on Bravak as well. Different PCs can all try Diplomacy, but one PC may not succeed twice.
Aid Another is helpful, but, reduces our maximum possible success by 1 each round. I think it is more tactical to try for more successes.
| GM Hmm |
Grigarii is right. Try for more successes! The more total successes, the better!
And yes, you can retry a bombed skill check roll next phase if you wish. Or switch skills if you wish.
Both Az and Juniper can retry their skill checks they used next phase and see if they make it.

I have 3/4 BAB, but my wisdom is super good, so I would have a +11 bonus (+5 BAB, +5 wisdom +1 bonus)
Wait a second...can Yojimbo try to make checks, too? :3
| GM Hmm |
Yojimbo is sentient, so yes. I'd even allow a familiar to do it.
Why are we using ooc font in discussion? :p

What's funny is that I originally had Juniper checking out the chimney just because it seemed like something she would do. Still, I like it! :D
@GM: Still wondering if we may Take 10 on any of these skill checks.
@Everyone: The only one that I have any chance of making on my own is probably the Diplomacy roll (+11+1), If I make that one then I might go back to Aid Another.
Blast! I just realized that I could have used Adaptable Luck last time to boost my Aid Another to a success. Oh well. Next time.

May you take 10? Absolutely. You're not in combat. Keep in mind though that Shel missed the DC on a 21.
Do you guys want to discuss strategy here together before rolling into Phase 2?
| GM Hmm |
| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
@ Juniper -- If you want to use some other skill for your roll but fluff it as using it while cleaning the chimney, go for it.
Grigorii
|
By the end of phase 2, we should have at least one success on each councilor, Dhalia, and the battle plan.
I think we should just continue rolling our best skills. If you don't have good skill options, just try improving the battle plan.
Juniper Berrythwaite
|
@Everyone Planning ahead...assuming I succeeded on Diplomacy for Phase TWO, I will be using Aid Another for Phase THREE.
I am happy to aid anyone who wants it. I can give a +4 bonus. But it only works if it is a skill check that I could possibly achieve alone. That means that it should work for Diplomacy, or Improving the Battle Plan (which I think I can probably achieve on a natural 20).
So, if you want my help, speak up. :)

I'm running with Knowledge Local in part three. I've got a +12, so I maybe could use an assist if anyone else has that skill.
| GM Hmm |
I'll give you guys a hint. This one is a numbers game. It does not matter where the successes are between the Councilors and the Battle Plan. You will save lives with the more pure successes you have.
Juniper... Can you think of anyway of justifying your Bluff skill?
Juniper Berrythwaite

Juniper... Can you think of anyway of justifying your Bluff skill?
I have been thinking about it for a while, and I'm not coming up with anything. The difficulty is that she is a Paladin, so she cannot outright lie.
Do I understand correctly that I cannot use Diplomacy again even if it is with a different Councilor?
@Azara I am happy to aid you. If we don't come up with something better to do, that will be my Phase Three action. It will also make for some interesting RP. ;)
By my count, we have 8 successes so far, correct? Edited

Knowledge (WTF): 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
Edit: Ah. Slow on the uptake.
reroll Knowledge with Kiku's aid: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 That's plenty against a DC 5 Pun.

@GM Hmm I just realized that Dhiara is a monk from Tar Kuata (somehow my mind skipped over that when reading earlier). Juniper trained at Tar Kuata (Scenario #6-19: Test of Tar Kuata) and has a blindfold that the monastery gave to her to keep (she wears it much of the time, actually). I wonder if I can leverage this into something. Unfortunately, what Juniper learned at the monastery was entirely defensive.

Does Juniper use Bluff to feint, then?
Truth be told, Juniper's Bluff skill is high because I was originally going for something a little different in my build than I have now. I changed my mind part way through. :/ She only has 3 ranks in Bluff; but it's a class skill for Sorcerer.
There are other times when Bluff is useful, such as passing secret messages and the like, but it really is a skill that I don't get too much use out of.

Maybe you could use Know(arcana) in some way. It does have to do with math/geometry as well as magic. If not, your aid is super Helpful, too.
