"Rapier? Like that jerk upstairs. Probably defiled this statue." Swayaah shakes her head and keeps searching for traps.

DM Kludde |

Vayu inspects the statue, an now that Swayaah mentions 'the jerk upstairs', he does remember finding a stone fang up there, that would be the right size. Now, only to find the other one...

![]() |

"I am with you Swayaah, let's investigate what's behind this next door"

![]() |

"Give me a second," Ilya says at Swayaah's mention of the stone fang.
Using her incredible speed Ilya's back in no time, holding the stone fang. She clicks it in place before following the others to the next door.
"Want me to kick it in for you?" Ilya asks in an innocent voice.

DM Kludde |

Ilya is ready to kick the door, but then it slides open, unleashing a cloud of hot steam. The misty room contains a steaming pool edged with glistening stones.

![]() |

"Aah! We have found the bathhouse! I do hope it is unoccupied"

![]() |

I would love a hot bath as much as you Ketill...but I highly doubt we would be so lucky a chance in the place

"Well, at least these snakemen have some style. Some owlbears don't like getting as wet as they should!" Ilvan moans, on queue. Swayaah sniffs about herself. "Then again, look who's talking. Yeesh."
Swayaah splashes through the water to the other side. Ilvan reluctantly follows, staying as shallow as possible.

DM Kludde |

The pool is 20 feet deep, opening up beneath the surface to form a egg-shaped space beneath the room. Though it is somewhat hard to see with all the splashing around, there is a glowing rune about five feet underwater. The mark is in the form of a runic letters “TWSK”

![]() |

"Tiawask? Do you think that could be hers? Zishka didn't seem to recognize the name. Tell you what, I'll grab it and we can get a closer look."
The tiefling goes for a swim...

Kellan tries to stop Swayaah before she jumps into the water, but she's already under the surface. Totally would have cast monkey fish on you if you wanted it... :-P

DM Kludde |

The pool reveals an underwater passage, that ends in a stone slab. With a firm push, the slab moves aside, and the pool opens up in the room with the figurine of the snake that ensnared you so.

![]() |

Swayaah bobs up to the surface, shaking off some of the water like a dog would.
"This leads back to the entrance." She sticks a claw in her ear to fish some water out. "I think we have 1 more room to check?" Because only 1 or 2 more rooms fits on the map, see?
Ilvan, now wet from Swayaah, shakes off the water, puffing his coat significantly. "Look how fuzzy Ilvan is? Isn't he cute?"

![]() |

"I thought I saw two hallways at the end of that large hall. Let's check the left one first"

DM Kludde |

In the back wall of the left chamber, a natural cavern corridor descends into darkness. A cold wind rises from it, carrying a foul stench.
This is a tunnel that leads deeper into the dark underground - who knows where?

![]() |

"Ugh. Let's check the other door first, eh?"

"Almost done here!"
This time Ilya patiently waits for Swayaah to do all her unnecessary things and then open the door.
:P

DM Kludde |

This last chamber is bathed in a green radiance emanating from the Emerald Spire that pierces the room. Carved into the wall around this pillar are large nests holding pearly eggs.
In the one of the nests is a thick gold chain, from which a large stone fang is dangling.

![]() |

"Okay. Okay. Everyone relax, I'll go ahead. Grab the last fang, no automated traps will set off. None of the eggs will hatch and tackle me, we'll go home, head to the tavern and have a pint."
After jynxing herself, Swayaah crawls towards the stone fang, ready to disable any traps that she comes across.

Swayaah crawls towards the stone fang, and goes ahead and grabs it. None of the eggs hatch, or tackle her, so it looks like an early day finish, and off to the tavern...

![]() |

"Well done Swayaah, let's see if that big statue comes alive after we have given it back it's fangs"

![]() |

"I'm wondering if we should destroy those eggs, or remove them and take them with us, if for the simple reason that there's no one left to take care of any baby lizardfolk who might come out of them eventually..."

![]() |

"Hmmm..." Swayaah takes a glance at Ilvan. "Yeah. You're the only egg I found intact, Ilvan...Hmm."
"I know the serpents haven't been nice to us, but maybe they'll figure things out in a nicer society that doesn't engage in constant civil war."

![]() |

"There's no reason to judge unborn children for the parents' deeds."
Ilya's face is clouded with concern. "But how do we find a proper home for them...? Do you suppose those friendly troglodytes we met on one of the floors above could provide for them?"

![]() |

"It's worth a shot, Ilya. Once we finish this fang stuff, we'll ask the Troglodytes if they can take care of them. If not, we'll find somewhere that will."
The tiefling's tail subconsciously fidgets. "Gods know mom managed to find somewhere for me."

DM Kludde |

Anything you do with the second fang? Otherwise, we're done on this level...

![]() |

Swayaah returns to the fang statue and fits the second stone fang onto it. "Huh, does this click or something when I've done it right? Someone put the other fang back."

DM Kludde |

As Swayaah inserts the second fang, the large emerald embedded in the statue loosens, and is up for grabs...
That concludes this level. I've created chronicles and put them in the usual place (link). Feel free to roll day jobs, and I'll add them

![]() |

"Phew. I'm happy that worked out. Let's find those eggs someplace nice, and then it's off to the Tavern for a pint!"

DM Kludde |

Level 9!
At the foot of the stairs, the passage leads off into a strangely angled foyer. Most of the walls have been reduced to rubble. One of walls connects to a small corridor, but the passage ends in a collapse after a few feet. In the southern wall of rubble, a small dark hole in the rock is the room’s only exit.

He gets three small bottles out of his pack "Anyone wants too look like a tree? It will make you harder to hit.

"What is with this place?" Swayaah looks around. "Will we be fighting Dwarves or something now? Ugh."
Swayaah takes one of the bottles from Ketill and drinks it down. "You're a lifesaver. That merchant still won't fashion my new armor yet. Says he only works on superstars. My ex would love that kind of talk..."
Ilvan moans. His feathers are covered with mithral chains as he shuffles uncomfortably. "Oh come on, boy. At least I got you armor. It's not so bad, right?" Ilvan seems to glare at her before she looks away. "You'll thank me later, kid."
She shakes her head before scouting ahead towards the exit.

"More likely duergar than dwarves this deep, I'd say. We should be careful."

DM Kludde |

The passage opens into a severely damaged chamber. Rubble torn from the excavated walls lies everywhere. Across the room stand the remains of a dividing wall now torn down to its foundation. The far wall is piled with slabs of broken stone. In a few places, badly damaged remains of ancient glyphs can still be seen.
On the south side, Swayaah finds the outline of what must once have been a secret door. To the east, there seems to be some narrow passage that has been dug from the rubble.

![]() |

Swayaah glares at the glyphs, unable to make heads or tails of it. She takes her attention off of it long enough to point at the former secret door.
"I saw we try this former secret door first. But, what about you guys? Can anyone read this?"

![]() |

"You're a lifesaver. That merchant still won't fashion my new armor yet. Says he only works on superstars. My ex would love that kind of talk..."
"So would that mean you are not seeing someone right now?"
Would comprehend languages (which I have active) allow me to read that spoiler?

DM Kludde |

Comprehend languages would work to give you the general idea, yes.
Beyond the secret door is a tiny room. Vandals have not defaced the cramped room yet. The walls are painted in gold leaf. In the center of the room lies a heap of coins from which poke other glittering prizes including a chalice, jewelry, gemstones, and a sword with a jeweled hilt.

![]() |

"Nice. But...how could they have missed this room? Sounds like a trap. Maybe later?"
Swayaah turns east as Ketill.
"So would that mean you are not seeing someone right now?"
"Yeah, I'm not dating. You're interested in messing with a berserker? Haha."
Ilvan, the sly matchmaker, walks up and presents his head for Ketill to pet.

![]() |

"I'd like one, Ketill," Ilya says and drinks the extract he offers her.
@Ketill: +2 enhancement bonus on natural armor, wasn't it?

While we are at the subject of this tower, those glyphs outside were just for show, to hide the magic that was there. It makes sense to detect for magic a lot on this level, unfortunately I am not able to do that."
Ketill eyes the treasure "Yeah, let's see if there is a magic aura here before we approach"

DM Kludde |

The room contains no magical auras, but it does hold a substantial amount of wealth.

"But if I die, take care of Ilvan, Ketill. Something to remember me by, haha."
Swayaah takes a closer look through the room for any obvious traps.

DM Kludde |

It is too good to be true. The trap is devious, but not devious enough for Swayaah, who disarm the nasty barbed net that was set to spring on whoever would grab the gold.
Most of the loot consists of copper coin covered in gold leaf, but there is still 1,000 gp in assorted coins, 15 pieces of quartzite and similar low-quality gemstones worth 10 gp apiece, six pieces of jewelry worth 150 gp each, and a bejeweled masterwork longsword worth 750 gp.
