DM Alexander Kilcoyne's Kingmaker PBP- Interlude (Between 1 & 2) (Inactive)

Game Master Alexander Kilcoyne

A period of interlude where the Guardians of the Greenbelt did little but rule and expand their fledgling nation- Kardas.

Your Humble Narrator

Cheers, needed that.

Reaching a kingdom size of 10: 600XP each.

Filling three city squares with buildings: 1,200 XP each

Akiros' Redemption-

Managing the personal protection of the other lords, Akiros still leads a very spartan lifestyle in comparison with others (Sootscales for example, is growing quite fat- although it doesn't seem to be impairing him...). He takes simple comfort in his duties and his loyalty is unquestionable. His mood and demeanour is still fairly sombre, and when asked about possibly having an atonement spell cast upon him, he simply shakes his head and politely changes the subject. It seems Akiros still has many steps to walk upon his own personal road to redemption.

Jhod's Yearning-

Jhod Kavken has performed his duties stoically, balancing the faith of Erastil with the tenets of Iomedae and ensuring both faiths are well represented in Kardas, as well as ensuring that foul religions such as Lamashtu and Zon-Kuthon do not spring up in Kardas. He does report that the worship of Gyronna the Hag is still happening in secret, although hes doing his best to quell it. Jhod is yearning to build a grand cathedral at the site of his temple, and urges the Guardians to finish expanding there as soon as possible.

Bokken's Grandeur-

Bokken has reinvented himself as a member of Kardas' nobility, frequently mentioning how he took the Guardians under his wing ans taught them everything they know about the Greenbelt. He is never seen without wearing extravagant gold-laced clothing, and never attends public events without at least two beautiful young maidens attending him.

Current xp total, anyone?

Sootscales the Decadent-

Sootscales spends his time in the castle in a private room, sat atop silk cushions and feasting upon fine foods and spirits with his loyal companion Mikmek. His duties of inspiring fear as a Royal Assassin have seldom been called upon, and he has grown fat and somewhat lazy in their absence.

Karina the Blessed-

Karina has secured herself a comfortable position as Jhod's personal assistant- and there are rumours that perhaps she is more than merely his assistant... She maintains good relations with the Guardians although she rarely speaks to Malthir...

11162 for Cas' sheet + the 1800 we just received.

12962 experience.

Kressle the Sentinel-

Stoically maintaining her vigil over the Temple of the Elk, Kressle has built herself a small wooden shack next to the temple in which she sleeps- and entertains the Spymaster from time to time. She has not killed another intelligent being in over two years, and she has grown into a deeply religious soul. Rumours are circulating about her applying pressure on Casimir to 'make an honest woman of her'.

Tatzlford- Report 1-

The first report from Tatzlford indicates that the colonists have settled comfortably and have a succesful little village established. Latricia appears to have little else to report.

Tatzlford- Report 2-

Loy reports that several buildings have been constructed, particulrily a library, a general store, a temple to Erastil and (with the investment provided by Kardas) a fine tavern. He expects that if you leave the village to their own devices for a few more years, he will able to grow the village organically into a even greater town without further investment.

Oleg- First Citizen of Kardas-

Olegs fame has spread and he is affectionately known as 'The First Citizen of Kardas'. He is fondly considered to be as much of a founder of Kardas as the Guardians are. Although he no longer owns any part of Northgreen, he is now an extremely wealthy man.

Red-Eyes, Lord of the Narlmarches-

Red-Eyes' pack has grown in size and in stature, and though they are rarely seen by the people of Kardas, their pack is reputed to be very large now. As promised, the wolves have harmed no one who did not attack them first, and rhey keep a lazy vigil over the town of Tatzlford.

Stanislaw, Uncle to Casimir-

Stanislaw has not been able to visit Casimir again yet, although he sends word every few months. The nobles of Brevoy are still playing their game of thrones, and little has changed except poisoning of rivals and potential enemies has increased tenfold. The nobility and merchant class now often employ poison tasters and clergy who can detect such substances, who are demanding huge sums of gold for their services.

BTW I almost forgot, Foundersfest is coming up again..time for another celebration!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, Foundersfeast! I can't think of a better time to propose to someone. *looks toward Casimir*

1. *applause* Love the updates, Alexander. Like the end of an 80s movie where they explain what happens to each character later in life.

2. I think it we should use kingdom funds to purchase signet rings for each of us signifying lordship in Kardas. Thoughts? (Just noticed the jewelry requirement for courtier/noble outfits)

3. Is there a penalty in PFRPG for crafting a wondrous item for a body slot that it typically does not fill? In 3.5 there was a penalty for making, for example, boots of dexterity +2 instead of gloves of dexterity +2. I cannot find anything similar in the PF SRD or the rulebooks. Did they do away with the (silly) rule?

Sovereign Court

Its +50% if I recall, but that could be my 3.5 brain.

For the stat boosters, i'd like those to remain where they are though.

Kesten the Vigilant-

Although Kardas does not yet have a standing army, Kesten remains wary and reminds the council frequently of the danger of complacency in a land as fickle as the Stolen Lands, especially in the River Kingdom. He has taken a young wife and to Jhod's delight has a child on the way.

You can assume to have these as part of your 'Wealthy' lifestyle costs.

They did away with it, or at least I haven't been able to find any wording around magic item creation that states otherwise.

They did rule that adding multiple powers to one item adds +50% to the power that you are adding.
They used to have some complicated rules around stat items not adding the 50% but they did away with that garbage as well.

That said you can still house rule whatever you think is appropriate.

Yeah, stat boosting items have been changed in Pathfinder, all physical enhancements go into the belt slot, and all mental enhancements go in the headband slot. Since it's pretty much only those things which go into those particular slots, you can have one mental and one physical stat boosted without paying the increased price for a combined item.

No biggie. I was just musing to myself about a scarf of vast intelligence +2. Very Dr. Who-ish.

Provided it effectively uses the head slot fluff it as a scarf ;).

Wonderful! That was actually my houserule during the 3.5 days. You could call it whatever you wanted, but it still filled the appropriate body slot. In a rather goofy game, I had one rogue with eyeglasses of intelligence, a fanny-pack of dexterity, and mittens of strength.

I think that is where the PF team chose to start with items, I have never been able to find anything in magic item creation or the items descriptions that say that they must be in those slots.

As far as I can tell you can put them wherever you want by RAW unless they fixed it in some errata? I haven't checked any errata for updated slot rulings TBO.
