well shoot. seems Simon hasnt posted since the 11th. i am placing simon as an npc status. Simon is more than welcome to rejoin us. i will give him until i get back from vacation to rejoin, otherwise i will open up recruitment for a new rogue-like character to join the party.
Simon snorts. Silly writing to distract us. he swings his light down each tunnel again. stay here a moment.
simon stealth: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30
He turns the light off on his wrist, plunging everything into darkness.
You only have to wait several moments until simon's wrist light flares on! he stands near the end of the hall, at the junction. he swings it left and right rapidly, several times.
He stands up Clear here.

Vondal "Silvertongue" Goldbeard |

The aasimar dwarf looks between the grimspawn and the warpriest. "Astrillith, I can't tell which one of you is the most naive. Either way, I think Olga pulling ahead at being my new favorite overall. You need to work your game, Dark Lady."

Hellig Usvart |

"It would be better to save the banter for when we know we are not within earshot of any enemies." Hellig comments. Which is not to say he doesn't appreciate some of the understandings and misunderstandings on offer. But this isn't the time or place, as far as he is concerned.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

Simon walks down the hall, and steps up to Vondal. he shoves a narrow finger into the dwarfs armored chest.
Are you done? simon snaps off under his breath. because i am pretty sure THE BLOODY BUGBEAR, WHEREVER HE IS, KNOWS ABOUT YOUR SEXUAL DESIRES! simon roars at the top of his lungs.
he breaths deeply, taking in and blowing out, calming himself. Look, vondal. easy buddy. yes, she's attractive. but wait til the beer flows before attempting to hook up with Astrillith, huh?
the halfling looks at everyone There's an oddity down at that end of the hall he waves his hand at the right tunnel that flash of white is a strip of paper about a foot long tied to something hammered into the wall. it looks like there could be paper on it, but i didnt want to go it alone.
alright folks. just a reminder, i am on vacation tomorrow, and will not be back until sunday night. so do not expect a post from me until monday! have a good one!

Vondal "Silvertongue" Goldbeard |

The dwarf shot daggers from his eyes at the halfling. "So much for professionalism, Simon. I wasn't shouting or anything. You're new to us, so I'll let this pass."

Sister Olga Lackman |

"Now now, it's true we should be more on guard for this...Phantom Fiend who lurks. Such danger heightens the tension, and our friend's job is to keep us free and clear of the deadly traps that could kill us. Which I think will deserve a hearty meal." Olga says in a calm, almost matronly tone. One that would belie her age.

Ceirn |

"We started with the right side. Lets keep moving right." Ceirn suggests.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

simon leads the group down the corridor to the right, and stopping at the junction. He swings his torch left and right, revealing more, long tunnels that stretch on into darkness. the smell of wetness fills your nose, with a subtle pungent aroma of filth. A slow drip of some liquid fills the air, a horrible crescendo of noise in an otherwise silent landscape.
Over there simon whispers, his torch pointing at something on the wall.
it's a bit of paper, hanging off the wall, a strange red blob seeming to act as the adhesive from which the paper is suspended.

Vondal "Silvertongue" Goldbeard |

"I'll do it", Vondal answers. "Can I borrow a torch? Darkvision is great for seeing, but not reading."

Vondal "Silvertongue" Goldbeard |

"For one so keen eyes in other matters, you have terrible eyesight. I can't help you in that regard" she states as she looks to the others for the aforementioned spellVondal shoots the tiefling a look of frustration.
Darkvision
Darkvision is the extraordinary ability to see with no light source at all, out to a range specified for the creature. Darkvision is black-and-white only (colors cannot be discerned). It does not allow characters to see anything that they could not see otherwise—invisible objects are still invisible, and illusions are still visible as what they seem to be. Likewise, darkvision subjects a creature to gaze attacks normally. The presence of light does not spoil darkvision.
I was under the impression you could not read flat writing using darkvision. Perhaps I'm thinking of another game and edition.
"Many, many thanks, Sister Olga! Thank you for your kindness!" Vondal smiles widely with his perfect teeth. The aasimar takes the enchanted torch to go read the notice.

Sister Olga Lackman |

"Then that makes me a rarity indeed!" Giggles Olga as she smiles more.
"Fear not I am not a pacificist, just do not forget humor, kindness, joy and celebration. Be it before, during or after!"THe tall woman stated seemingly unphased at the truth. Yet for her her faith carried her through.

Vondal "Silvertongue" Goldbeard |

Vondal smiles to himself as he walk to check the posted notice.
Morndinsamman! Sister Lackman seems like such a good fit for The Balanced Coin! I hope she sticks around! The dwarf thinks to himself.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

apologies for the delay everyone. my schedule got a little bumpy last week and i just didnt find the time to sit and post.
maybe your thinking of AD&D, vondal? i know that edition had a specific ink that allowed a person with darkvision to read its contents
Simon grinds his teeth in annoyance. seems everyone feels the need to talk.
he rolls his eyes. bah, whatever. Let's go he slips on silent feet into step behind vondal and positions himself a step behind and to the side of vondal, covering him while the dwarf looks at the scrap of paper.
The paper explodes in your hands and face!
explosive runes damage: 6d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 6, 5, 1, 6) = 25
a large explosion erupts where vondal stands! The force of the blast hammering into your ears and body, causing your ears to ring for a moment. you watch in horror as vondal is thrown hard into the wall, slumping to the floor.
simon reflex: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22
Simon ducks and dodges the worst of the explosive effects, and spins to a stop several feet from where he was standing before the explosion!
He rushes up and kneels down beside vondal.
Vondal! Vondal! Hey! wake up buddy! he yells

Sister Olga Lackman |

Olga rushes over and looks at those involved. Seeing Simon up she goes ot VOndal and leans down to look him over.
Heal: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
From there, she will place her hand on the Dwarf and, with a smile and soft words to Lliir, let the healing power flow through her to the Dwarf.
Fervor: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5) = 14

Vondal "Silvertongue" Goldbeard |

The aasimar dwarf flitters back to consciousness as the warpriest applies her healing.
"Oh. Oh! Many thanks, Olga. May I call you Olga. WAIT!"
Vonda quickly stands and pulls the end of his beard up to his face, and furiously looks at his golden blonde hair, and makes a sigh of relief.
"Oh Thank the Morndinsamman! My beard came out unscathed!"

Vondal "Silvertongue" Goldbeard |

"Nothing wrong about having pride in your appearance, Astrillith", the dwarf sniffed.

Ceirn |

"If you want to take pride in a flammable beard, I would suggest not leading with it into a fiery explosion." Ceirn offers from the back.

Sister Olga Lackman |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

"See me later, we'll braid these hairs, maybe find a crafter to make bear rings that prevent its destruction from anything short of disintegration"She says with a smile and then stands up, offering her hand in support.

Vondal "Silvertongue" Goldbeard |

In the gloom of the superdungeon, Vondal's sapphire eyes open wide as the warpriest help the aasimar off the floor.
"Em..Yes! Perhaps.. we shall.." the godling stammered.
Among the Stout Folk, the offer to braid another's beard is seen as a tender gesture of trust and love. Sister Olga may have accidentally performed a forward social construct similar to a noblewoman dropping her handkerchief in a transparent gesture for a suitor to pick it up and return it.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

is the website working now?... Everyone, hit me up on discord. i just want to make sure everyone has the ability to talk to me should the website fail us again...
As you stand around vondal providing aide to the dwarf, a lone sound hums down from the tunnel to the left.
boom
Boom

Sister Olga Lackman |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
"I think we should follow"Olga says with a smile as she seems to move with the beat caused by the booms.
She draws a few shurikens ready in one hand as she seems to move to follow. Her steps precise in a dancer's glide over the floor. Her grace is beautiful.
Dance: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
"I think a Dance is afoot" She giggles enjoying the very movemnts before going quiet.

Ceirn |

"It does seem like something his happening." Ceirn says as he moves around the corner and looks to see what he can in his small globe of light.

Vondal "Silvertongue" Goldbeard |

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
"Damn! What's going on!" Vondal whispered.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

i updated the 1st map in the slides. I put your avatars where i see them in my minds eye. so if you wish to move them a bit, feel free to.

"Perhaps. But he's still useful. But I plan to be there when he does. Same with everyone here" she states calmly to him
She looks over to Vondal
"Please be brief in explaining so we can handle what it is"

Ceirn |

Ceirn moves closer so that he can see further down the hallway. "We should move." He says as he heads down the tunnel.

Hellig Usvart |

Hellig stops, reflexively bringing his sword up as he wracks his brain to figure out what the creature is.

apologies, we got a dog yesterday.
From behind you, you suddenly hear a voice shout out RUN! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!
you spin around to look at this new threat, and see a midsized human woman running full sprint down the hall towards you. Her hands are empty, her arms pumping madly! her feet slam hard into the stone floor, bringing her rapidly towards you.
As she gets closer and closer, you see a wild look in her eyes! fear are writ large upon her face, her eyes blazing with the need to flee!
FLY YOU FOOLS! she bellows out again, getting closer and closer
more shrieks and bellows, drums and thuds, sound from down the hall. More of the creatures pour out of the opening. large grey axes held in hand raise and lower as they trot down the tunnel.

Vondal "Silvertongue" Goldbeard |

As the wild woman gets closer, Vondal readies an action.
'Gloryhewner', non-lethal: 1d20 + 12 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 12 - 4 = 15
Dmg.: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Sister Olga Lackman |

"Oh looks like a back step is in order." Olga says moving back with the others. She could fight, but her skills as a healing and ranged specialist may prove more beneficial here.
"I'm moreof a ranged specialist, so I am gonna step back here and let you, more melee fighters, take up arms. I promise to step in and heal who and where I can, Counting on you" Olga says, stopping and pulling out a few shuriken as she giggles a more deadly sort of giggle.

Astrillith |

"I may not have the best combat skills, but I can and most of my... Abilities... Are melee focused" she nods as she moved to join Vondal, looking at the woman he attacked and simply shakes her head
She tilts her head at the oncoming enemies, ready to charge her weapon up with her arcane energies
will be spending a point from her arcane pool to charge up her staff (+2)

Vondal "Silvertongue" Goldbeard |

"You sure know how to greet a lady" she Huffs as she readies her staff.
It's a READIED action. If circumstances allow, the attack will happen. If no one else interacts or creates an action before the crazed woman get to the party, then Vondal does nothing.

Ceirn |

Ceirn decides that he needs to clear the path and starts firing.
I am going to start shooting as soon as I can see, which is about where the closest one is. Should we be in initiative?
