A few days after you have returned to the capital and you have sent the remaining waterskins of troll's blood to Bokken, you receive a grandiose looking letter, on fine parchment. The letter came with a small sack of 1,500 gold pieces. It reads- The esteemed gentleman and scholar Bokken, founder of Bokken's Bottles, thanks his friends the Guardians of the Greenbelt for their valuable donation to his research. Enclosed is a monetary reward for their services; and an invitation to dine at Bokken's mansion at one of his famous parties at the end of the month. Also, 400XP...
The council agree imprisonment is the best course of action for now. The day rolls over into the next day- the third of the month, Fenna you would have had time to use Commune if you wished to btw and you receive a tired messenger from the Swordlords, a man named Trask. The swordlords have heard of the aforementioned winter wolf named Howl-Of-The-North-Wind, and have promised a bounty of 1,400 gold pieces should the Guardians take his head. In addition, the "distinguished gentleman and scholar" Bokken sends a runner with two requests- he wants a waterskin filled with Troll blood so he can continue his research into its regenerative properties, and he also wants the sap of a shambling mound, which he has heard has recuperative qualities. He will of course, pay handsomely for your services.
Bokken's Grandeur- Bokken has reinvented himself as a member of Kardas' nobility, frequently mentioning how he took the Guardians under his wing ans taught them everything they know about the Greenbelt. He is never seen without wearing extravagant gold-laced clothing, and never attends public events without at least two beautiful young maidens attending him.
FYI Malthir Vaysh wrote: Indeed, I would welcome a walk beyond these walls for a while. I think that it would be excellent for us to see how Noleski is doing. I keep his thought near my heart always, and he is in my prayers at night to the Lady of Valor. The boy is in surprisingly good spirits, and excitedly tells you that Bokken has told him all about your group and that the group will be able to help Bokken grow his arms back. Will you promise to come and tell me about the Unicorn kind Sir and Madam? Noleski asks politely. Bokken seems to be frantically muttering himself in some potion-brewing frenzy in the background, and you can frequently hear him curse.
Vaysh wrote: ** spoiler omitted **... I'm afraid i've never seen him before lass. Bokken responds to Vaysh. You haven't explored any hexes yet- I'll award XP whenever you explore a hex so that your sure you can add it to the map Malthir. You fail to find an legitimate owner for the music box or the earrings. How the exploration will work- How you get along in the day will be dependent on a survival skill check. Because this is a team effort, i'll roll for all of you- the highest result will be the one I use to see which DC's you hit, any any check that meets or surpasses DC10 will count as an assist and add +2 to the highest check result.

Well... I've never tested it but I have an ancient alchemical recipe that claims to be able to distill Troll's blood into a powerful healing magic that emulates the beast's own incredible self-healing powers... The Greenbelt is known to be home to troll's, particulairly in the southern section... However, I have no idea how much blood I will need... So the more you collect the better... To complicate matters, I will also need some hair from a Unicorn's mane... Bokken arches an eyebrow at your expressions. Yes I am aware that I am asking for two exceptionally rare ingredients... It was just a thought... he mutters defensively. He currently has two potions of cure light wounds for sale, but can make most first level spells in the form of a potion to order if paid in advance.
Yes, I am Bokken, creator of potions... Hrmph... Doubt my skills as a healer eh? Come see for yourself... You will be able to do no more than I could do myself... Bokken opens the door into his tiny hut. Stepping inside, you can see the boy is unconscious. He has suffered horrific gore wounds which have clearly been magically healed- but both of the boy's arms have been ripped off by huge teeth. The wounds have been healed, but the boy will grow up without arms... He is about six years old- your amazed to see he survived long enough to be brought to a healer... His name is Noleski... Bokken mutters. I don't expect him to wake for a few days yet. Try any spell you like, but it's beyond my power to heal... Although I do have one theory on how to help him...
To the best of my knowledge, your going to visit Bokken and then map out that hex to the best of your ability. You set off in the morning of the 5th of Erastus after a hearty breakfast, a small, well-fed and well mounted troupe. Heading a dozen or so miles to the east and a little south for four hours, you come across the only visible building in the area- a small wooden hut with a sign outside of the building that reads 'Bokken's. As you approach the hut, a stooped old man leaning heavily on a stick comes out to greet you, motioning for you to come speak to him. On the subject of mount's I don't know if Edric is putting ranks in Handle Animal but he could definitely combat train all of them if given enough time, its a Cavalier speciality. |
