2nd Printing?

Pathfinder Second Edition General Discussion

Just curious, about how often are subsequent printings done of core rule books? I preordered the Player Core but now I'm seeing SO much errata on day 1, I'm wondering if I'm better of canceling my preorder and just waiting 6 months - 1 year (if that's the usual amount of time) to get the 2nd printing.

There's actually not that much errata.

A grand total of a page and a half maybe. That's less than we had with the old book for each printing.

One of the errata is a major change that hits upon the hot topic of the month. But in total the amount of errata is small.

The pre-remaster Core Rulebook got to 4th version, though it took a while altogether. I think a second printing at least is inevitable here. It's not like the amount of errata surprised them, they've done this before. (Implying the first run will have been enough to satisfy short-term demand but not enough to get piles in a warehouse.) I don't know how to translate that into months.

Hmm. So the first printing is more for the "I need it now!" crowd and they don't order a huge shipment of them? Makes me think I should wait.

If you'd be OK with just the PDFs, you'd get free updates.

EDIT: Note that in the past, PDF updates have come with physical reprintings, not whenever new errata come out. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't misleading you into expecting too much.

It's only day one of the official release, there is time for more errata to be found.

If you wait for a new print with an updated errata you will wait for ever.

The PF2 errata is not only used to fix typo errors but also to rebalance little things just like an online game do so because of this we get a new errata of the core books every print. Just buy your book.

The best version with the most errata is usually released at the end of an edition. Do you want to wait until 3e til you can play 2e?

They do a second printing when the run out of the first. So the best way to guarantee a second printing is to buy this one.

maybe they miscalculated and already ran out, maybe that's why subscriber shipping seems to have stalled before it was completed, maybe that explains the complete communication blackout from customer service since Monday, or maybe that's why poor customer service brews conspiracy theories

I'm really hesitant to call Paizo's customer service "poor" they're by leaps and bounds more involved and organized than any other TTRPG's CS departments.
