Oh, yeah, definitely continue past the 59, up to whatever your casting score ends up being.

Lawdy, but these characters are complicated. Thanks for not doing gestalt/tristalt, lol.

Should I worry about caps to epic spell bonuses, or just make sure I can afford it and have the Spellcraft to cast it? I mean, an armor bonus of 82 is possible with my current Spellcraft taking 10 at a cost of 1,530,000 to develop, which is a small drop in that 2 billion gold budget.

Same goes for Natural Armor.

I'm thinking maybe we should limit any bonuses like this to the +37 you would get from a stat of 85, or maybe cap at +20, where the epic mage armor sits since you could get a +19 with a +10 suit of the best armor?

Thoughts, Monkeygod?

Edit: what are your thoughts on the epic magic items that give you a template?

I can see AC and saves being an issue. In the end if one side's attack bonus/DC is 20 over the AC/save of another, then it's going to be a one-sided fight. Given the big values here, should we set a target range?

I think a +20 cap to those stats is pretty fair. Again, once people are all done, we can look over numbers to see if anything needs tweaking.

Also, unsure what epic items give you templates? Enlighten me please!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

They are in the epic document you linked originally. The Plague Mask for example gives the graveknight template but lots of others are available. generally in the feet, belt or head slot.

My one concern with allowing the ones that grant a complex, full template like Graveknight(as opposed to the more simple ones like Celestial or Shadow) is what might happen should the item be dispelled/disjoined/suppressed, etc.

That might cause quite the rewrite, and in some cases, **could** weaken a challenger a fair amount(like suddenly losing all the immunities/resistances from GK that you might not have otherwise).

I'm not fully opposed to it, but that is something that needs to be considered before I decide...

The caveat with those items is that you can only wear one that gives you a template, no matter what slot they occupy, so people using them should have their characters written up with the changes if they lose the template as a spoiler, perhaps?

With Dis's disjunction effect it would be wise to be prepared for the event if you're using one.

Theme Song

The triumvirate of Murraghyn, Almahda, and Quiolath were once among the most favored servants of the Eldest Magdh, helping to track and enforce the strands of fate foreseen. Among the bravest of her servants, the triumvirate served as emissaries and prophets for important events on other planes. It was during fulfillment of this task that Quilath met and fell in love with Dispater, Lord of the Second.

His marriage to Quilath (his “forgotten” first wife) broke the triumvirate’s bond, and although Almahda and Murraghyn continued in service to Magdh, both their reputations and capabilities were greatly diminished. They did the best they could, but their sister’s fate was a distraction. Finally, Magdh sent Almahda and Murraghyn back to Dis in an effort to reconcile with the couple. Magdh gave specific instructions that Almahda speak to Disapater and Murraghyn speak to Quiolath.

Disapater’s seduction of Almahda was a swift and complete, as was Quiolath’S rage upon finding them in her marriage bed. When the ensuing argument between the two became tiresome to the Lord of the Second, he killed them both with a frightening casualness. Murraghyn was able to escape using a token given her by Madgh after witnessing the murders.

Murraghyn quickly realized that Madgh had known exactly what would occur. She confronted the Eldest, who promised her that in time she would understand.

Overwhelmed with grief, however, Murraghyn would not hear the Eldest’s cryptic promises, and so she turned her over to the ankou in an attempt to bend her will. The ankou did what they do and Murraghyn came to long for death over the centuries of “insruction” that followed.

Her chance for death came when she found an open passage to the positive energy plane. Nothing, she thought, could survive a journey to such a place.

To her surprise, she not only survived, but was transformed. A suffusion of life energy filled her body and charged her soul. Something had save her, made her better, and even healed the mental wounds of her past. It also started her on her mythic journey, whispering to her in the quiet moments its desire to see her fulfill ancient prophesies unspoken.

At some point, its whispers became clearer and she ascended fully to deific status. She spent millennia honing her personal magics and becoming increasingly powerful and influential, an unseen force guiding the destinies of those whose fates she foresaw.

In her home demiplane, the Vault of Unpromised Tomorrows, she contemplates the Web of Infinite Fates, occasionally drawing one of her eight deaths and sniping a strand. Though the center of this web weaves the strand of fate representing Disipater. Before the death of Aroden changed the shape of the web, she had a clear vision of her path towards dismantling that particular thread, but Aroden’s death added additional layers and burned away portions of the web.

”F%!$ patience.” she says, drawing the eight deaths."Let's go."

Her four shadow sisters nod in agreement.

I mean, I still have almost 2 billion gold to decide what to do with, but this is what I have so far.

I manage to spell Dispater three or four different ways there, only correctly once.

That might be more impressive than actually beating him, LOL

*Boggles at Murraghyn's stats*

I am overwhelmed!

Me too, they're not even completely cleaned up, haven't added in class abilities, etc.

I had to keep telling myself "you don't need that" when it came to things like 2 level dip in paladin or 1 level dip in monk, etc. I mean values are high enough, right?

Reckless, are you fully finished with your challenger?

Looking at Murraghyn, it seems that the diety boosts are just too much to overcome. Ordinary monsters don't work. :(

Probably why they had monsters at 100 HD and Deities at 70. Also likely why the had that stat caps where they were.

I'll give her a going over on Monday and wrap her up by Tuesday. There are just a few more minor tweaks to go, plus some formatting/adding in class abilities, etc. I'd like to have in the profile before saying she's ready.

We're going to call her done. She's been reformatted slightly closer to a regular statblock.

How is Dispater coming along?

Well,

**Rocks fall, Murraghyn dies**

I wouldn't worry about it :P

I'm afraid I just don't have the time to make a PC of such abilities for this game so I will just watch the oncoming explosions.

In all seriousness, some crazy s%~+ has gone down in the IRL vampire game I'm playing in, and so a lot my last week+ been dealing with the fallout.

Also, some GM made a recruitment for an epic 30th level mythic game, and suddenly a lot of my free time is gone....

That said, you probably won't be getting anywhere near Dispater any time soon, so I should have some time.

I'll try to get up a gameplay post to set the initial scene, and then we'll go from there.

The Iron Siege is, as already stated a few times, not your normal game. There's kind of collaborative aspect to it, as from what I've seen in the past, a lot of player discussion of tactics, ideas, and such take place between the prospective challenger and the GM.

Yeah, this is why I was trying to stick with all the original limits for stats, HD tiers, etc,

But I was overruled by ya'll so....

What kind of monster would do such a thing :P

No worries, really, as some GM is going to have to prepare to run said epic 30th level mythic game as well.

I think I hear Dispater clucking :P
