All Scenarios Repeatable?

My local venture officer just posted on our Facebook page:

"Just for everyone's clarification, Pathfinder 2E scenarios, so far, are all repeatable, even though they do not have the repeatable tag. Paizo has a note on the reporting side that scenarios are repeatable."

This was along with a screencap of the reporting screen with the words "This scenario is replayable and will grant credit each time it is reported." But it was on a scenario without the repeatable tag (#1-12: The Burden of Envy).

I have a feeling this is incorrect and an error on the reporting page, but is there an official source to confirm this either way? I'd hate for players and GMs to go through adventures and not actually get credit for them.

Your local VO is wrong. That is a bug on the reporting site that's been there for years. The story as I understand it is that its listing 'are you allowed to spend a replay on this scenarios" not "is this scenarios repeatable" (You can't spend replays on Adventures/Adventure Paths, etc).

I'm not sure if there's a public post about this error, but your Venture officer can confirm this on the VO-discord.

Additionally, guide's Player Basics section explains what the various tags mean:

Quote:
Repeatable: Players and GMs may receive credit for scenarios with this tag an unlimited number of times, though characters can still only receive credit once for a given scenario.

.

Current list of repeatable scenarios is:
Tier 1: 2-11, Beginner's Box
Tier 1-2: Intros 1 & 2
Tier 1-4: Q1, Q4, 1-01, 1-06, 1-10, 1-14, 3-01, 4-01
Tier 3-6: Q9, 1-23, 2-06, 3-13
+ All bounties (tiers 1 and tiers 3)

Multi-table specials
2-00 (tiers 1-2, 3-6, & 7-8, once each tier)
3-99 (tiers 1-4, & 5-8, once each tier)
3-98 (tiers 1-4, & 3-6, can be played twice & each playthrough can be in any tier)

In addition, scenario 1-05: Trailblazer's Bounty has/had a mistake where the PDF itself has the repeatable tag on the second page. Product page does not have this tag, and the scenario PDF may have gotten updated since then, but at least when it came out the PDF claimed the adventure to be repeatable despite it not being repeatable.

#1-00: Origin of the Open Road has a similar error, stating "You can assign this Chronicle sheet to any character of levels 1–5 who does not already have a copy", implying it is Repeatable, when it actually isn't.

Lemme just say this publicly: no, that's a glitch. Only the Repeatable tag (on a product page or in a PDF) makes an adventure Repeatable.

Here is a very boring technical explanation of why this happens, but the tl;dr is "it's a glitch that is in the queue to be fixed"

Spoiler:
So in our system I have three options I can set for a scenario regarding its replayability:
*Not Replayable - this is the default, it triggers the message when someone tries to replay/re-GM a scenario, you know, the “they have already played this at such and such event”
*Replayable - this is for the repeatable, it correctly triggers the green “this scenario is replayable” text
*Consumes Replay - this is new-ish and will eventually be what every scenario gets. Someday the goal is for this to be used to track Replays online. However, currently it is programmed wrong and brings up the green “this scenario is replayable” text, and we need tech to remove that.

Hey, since you mentioned it, will the system eventually be able to distinguish when you GM a different subtier from what your players played?

I encountered this problem during one of the Specials. I GMed low tier, and then when I GMed it a second time at low tier, I wanted to apply the credit to a higher level character, but I couldn't, because it could only be reported as the low tier version.

I hope that makes sense. Assuming replays will one day be tracked online, I wouldn't want to automatically consume a Replay.

I doubt the system will ever be that smart, but I'll throw it into the back of my brain to percolate.

What is the best way to handle it in the meantime?

Have the reporters report with no GM for the players, and have them report my table with no players?

That seems like a good way to handle it, personally.

Does this mean 1-05 is repeatable?

The pdf has the Repeatable tag.

This is an unfortunate side effect of them having such an outdated and antiquated website for Organized Play. Paizo, I love ya', but your online presence is horrible!

I don’t think it is, I just don’t think they fixed the pdf.

I'm pretty sure Pirate Rob knows that. He's just making a statement that if we have multiple conflicting things denoting replayability that commonly confuse people, and the authorative answer is "Only the repeatable tag (on a product page or in a PDF) makes an adventure
repeatable.", then they need to prioritize fixing an error in tagging on the PDFs.

I typically agree, that wrong replayably tag in the PDF really should have been corrected years ago, even if just a quick/dirty 'digital white out' or 'black redacted bar' without doing anything that might trigger reflow/pagination/ 'Paizo style' review. I normally agree with the statements form Paizo, that re-opening a PDF for minor errata is not worth the time it takes for how it impacts so many non-OP teams workloads, and I understand they have a consistent look/feel that they protect as their brand, but in this case I think they need to fix the pdf.

Tomppa, thanks for this list. I found it very helpful.

Thanks, although that list is directly from Org Play Online discord server and the credit goes to Redeux, and I think Steven M compiled a lot of it.

Correct, Steven M did most of the work. I took it over recently since he doesn't play PFS2 anymore. Eventually I hope to put this list and our metaplot list in a more accessible location so our Org Play Online (OPO) lodges (and anyone else) can link to it directly rather than us update it in multiple places. Still trying to figure out if it is best to put it in some kind of excel document / google document / github repository / etc.

For now the lists can be found on our OPO discord server, specifically in the #general-chat-pfs2 pins

Thanks for the link, Redeux. Although I use Discord all the time, I think of it more for transitory communication and online games then for archiving. Reprinting things to the forums makes them more searchable, too.

Thanks so much!
