[PF1] Recruiting replacement GM for PF1 Curse of the Crimson Throne (Book 4 onwards)

In March 2017, our group began a Play by Post of Curse of the Crimson Throne. While we've had some turnover over the course of the campaign, we are now in the last third of Book 4 with a solid and energetic group of players. In the past we've had some stellar GMs leading the way. Unfortunately, we now find ourselves without a GM to pick up the reins and bring us through the last third of the campaign.

We are looking for a GM willing to run us through the remainder of Book 4 and the last two books of Curse of the Crimson Throne.

Some facts about our group, as a means of enticing would be GMs:

  • Historically, everyone in the current crop of players has had a steady posting rate (6-8 posts/week). We're pretty good about pushing the action forwards and proceeding without any prods from the GM.
  • We're fairly action/combat focused instead of roleplay focused, but we manage to weave in in-character drama and development without derailing the adventure or demanding anything special from the GM.
  • We have 6500+ posts under our belts as evidence that we won't suddenly begin turning flaky.

What we'd like to see in a GM:

  • Someone capable of posting frequently to keep the pace rolling.
  • Someone who is willing to run "by the book" without too many house rules or unexpected twists
  • Someone who has at least some experience with mid-to-high level Pathfinder 1E.

You can find our Campaign Thread here. I suggest page 216 if you'd like to see what our posting and playing styles are like.

Shout if you have any questions!

One of the players here! Seconding everything said above.

This is, indeed, a fantastic group with a lot of staying power.

2/3 of the way through, it seems a shame to end it.

Hello! I would be pretty interested in taking over GMing duties for this, though I am in the middle of moving cross-country. I won't be available to guarantee everyday posts until about the week of November 2nd. If you all find someone who would be available before that / has more rep here on the forums, I would totally understand wanting to go with them as an option instead. I have previously completed a Rise of the Runelords campaign, so I have some experience with high-level play.

Indeed, I hate seeing a long running campaign face an early demise.

Consider me interested as well. Though I wouldn't think of stepping on Levi's toes; first come and all that.

Still, I'll peruse both the gameplay and AP ( I'm familiar with the first 2-3 books ) and see if my interest is more serious.

We are very grateful for your interest in picking up our game. :)

I've been in a lot of games that fizzled, and sometimes it feels okay, like the game ran its course and reached the end of what could be accomplished with that group of people. You're disappointed, but everyone moves on to find something new.

With this one though, I feel like we worked through a lot of the risk points of play by post and found something lasting, and it is worth taking the time to save it. I hope we find a GM who feels the same way.

Glad to see you both. Please take a look and let us know if you have questions.

@Levi: What kind of posting pace do you think you could support before November? And I noticed that your earlier PbP games ended abruptly. Do you expect to be able to do a potentially year-long PbP for the last couple of books?

Fair questions! Right when the pandemic began things in my personal life got really crazy and I wasn't able to find time to continue doing play by post. By the time I ended up unemployed it appeared to me that most of my games had either moved on without me or I didn't have the emotional bandwidth to get back to it. Deeper into the summer while I was unemployed I didn't feel like I should start anything because potential new employment meant I may not have time to do play by post.

Thankfully, my recent employment will not prevent me from having the time to check the forums or anything of the like. As for posting pace pre-November? Probably not great, if I'm being honest. I'm making the move from Michigan to Redmond, WA right now so I'll be pretty busy. I totally understand if I don't seem like a solid GM pick right now, I just saw that after a day or two no one had responded and didn't want to see such a long running game die. :)

Thanks for the details Levi. I would feel guilty taking your time in the midst of a big, busy move like that. I think should no one else have taken the position by November, we would be happy to have you.

Hi guys, skipped through the gameplay...to read everything would have taken forever....you guys are chatty!!! :D

Got to the end and was concerned as I had no idea what GM Fez had planned....then I remembered that he was using the hardbound copy of COCT!! Figured out quickly what was next!

So, if you'll have me, I'll request ownership of the campaign, and keep reading forward to see what comes...and get other resources in line to keep playing!

We will definitely have you, and are all agreed. Thank you. :)

There's a lot of adventure in there, and we definitely weren't speed running it. Also definitely not expecting you to read all that :)
