The magus is a bit of a sidetrack I created. I said that if he wants damage and defense, the magus is good at that. It sounds like his previous magus had damage problems from being too multiclassed. You could dip a level or two with a magus, but as a caster it’s best to stay as single classed as possible.

wait is the op using a 2h large weapon as a magus? how does he do spell combat? moderately confused.

The Butchering Axe build is a completely separate build idea. I am currently playing a Cavalier(Saurion Champion),Monk(Sohei),Magus(Kensai) combination in Rise of the Runelords. Again a Tiefling with Oversized Limbs throught Fiendish Heritage Feat. He uses a Large 9 Ring Broadsword. The sword is a one handed weapon and he can use Flurry with it being a Monk weapon. One handed he could still use spell combat.
The downside is he is three classes. We are currently 12th level. The cavalier level are locked in at 4th because of Expert Trainer. The Kensai archtype is perfect for this combination giving him AC equal to his Int. The downside of the archtype is less spells per day. All f his spells are defensive. Mage armor and Shield. Sohei Monk meshes well with Cavalier since it boosts any mount a character has. In this case essentially a Raptor.
The real issue is as players we have been playing a little over a year and most prefer to go off and do their own things even in combat. I'm old school and had played with another group for twenty years. With my old group we approached combat in the same way as a united group most of our characters complimented each other. This new group is vastly different with different personalities. The problem is in combat especially with major monsters this style of play really doesn't work. I have lost two characters in this path due to this style of play. Our GM is extremely kind since there has been more then once instance where we should have been a TPK

A question regarding Tieflings. So they can replace spell like ability for Fiendish Heritage to gain certain abilities. It's the same list as the Fiendish Heritage Feat. So My question is this could I take the racial trait and then the feat to get two fiendish heritage abilities. For example Oversize Limbs from the trait. Then take the feat for a stat bump or something?

originally the way it worked as you could take the feat and get three rolls as a tiefling and pick which one you liked the most but for aasimars they gave up their spell like ability to roll once and had no feat.

later they changed it so both races could give up their spell like ability to roll one time or pay the feat tax and roll 3 times and pick 1 of the three.

the ability to say i want "that ability" is totally your DM being super nice to you, especially if you want one of the powerful ones like over-sized limbs.
