to be fair, they only took him along because the DMPC insisted on it and lied about him having class levels.

You know, the sad thing is doesn't the core rulebook suggest doing something similar to that?
It's a weird symptom of several systems I've seen, including (funnily enough) The One Ring, which assumes that a fresh player should sit down with a brand new, first time adventure character when joining an existing party of experienced adventurers.
...
But yeah, no, on topic: don't play a super old character on a physical class with a race that has all the wrong stats in the wrong places. That's just a "please don't do that to yourself" situation.

He supposedly has the stat modifiers for middle age, not old age. Iconic Wizard at Level 1.
Str 10, Dex 14, Con 13, Int 18, Wis 12, Cha 10
Before Age modifiers (–1 to Str, Dex, and Con and +1 to Int, Wis, and Cha) & Human +2 bonus to Int
Str 11, Dex 15, Con 14, Int 15, Wis 11, Cha 9
Cost: 1 + 7 + 5 + 7 + 1 - 1 = 20
The reason you think he doesn't have the stat adjustments is probably that if he had been younger...
Str 10, Dex 14, Con 13, Int 16, Wis 12, Cha 10
Cost: 0 + 5 + 3 + 10 + 2 + 0 = 20
...it would have worked out exactly the same.

Didn't the Iconic Wizard start his adventuring (as a 1st level character) at an old age?
Like I said, "The problem is not old age category characters in general, but that you have picked literally one of the worst possible archetypes/classes for an old character"
Higher age categories boost mental ability scores while penalizing physical ability scores. Thus, they're good for a character whose main ability score is a mental one, but bad for a character whose main ability score is a physical one.

The reason i think he doesn't have the old age modifier is hes playable in pfs, and while pfs pregens do have some errors on the pages, different age categories aren't allowed.

I also refuse to believe that someone intentionally sat down and made a character with all odd numbers in stats
