Oh that makes perfect sense, yeah, and it's a great starting point! I've got a campaign that's going to spend a bit of time in Arcadia so it's a good bit to know, thanks for the answer and insight!

So we got some confirmations of Drow and Wyvaran arriving somewhat in the future. Do you have any plans on making the bugbear an official ancestry?

Is hardened harrow deck counted as fine one, for EXPERIENCED HARROWER's cost negation?

Hi, Luis. I hope you've been well. Here's my question. In a hypothetical Mythic book for 2e, I know you wouldn't be the arbiter on this, I'm more just asking about personal opinion. Would you want the mythic paths to be more generic like in 1e, (hierophant, guardian, marshal, etc), or would you want them to be centred around certain creature themes like in the Wrath of the Righteous CRPG (like angel, azata, or aeon)?

Also, completely different topic. Have you watched Guardians Vol. 3? If you did, what did you think? I personally would rate it above the second but below the first.

No plans on playable bugbears at the moment, but I like the idea!

I would rule yes at my table.

Since 2E mythic is actually coming, I'm going to be coy about that first question, since I think it will give away what's coming!

I did watch Guardians 3! I quite liked it. I think it comes down to 1>2>3 for me. They're all really great movies, though, so the rankings are liable to shift continuously, since I think they're all pretty much around the same level of quality.

Is there a plan to add a Vehicle containing passengers on a railway in Golarion? Minecart excluded.

The real question is where would the first railroad be built, and who would build it? And where is the AP about it? :-)

Right now, something like a railroad feels just a bit outside of the kind of technology we'd include in Golarion, even in other parts of the world outside of the Inner Sea. Not to say that it couldn't happen, but it would definitely be a big event, probably tied to an adventure. For now, if you want some railroad fun, I'd say that placing it near Alkenstar would work or some place with high magic if you want something more magitek.

What happened to population of Alkenstar City?

This is an error that we're looking to correct in the future.

Is Tsukumogami's limbs retractable?

Not that I'm aware of.

Will any future books feature asian themed classes or archtypes or backgrounds perhaps? Such as Ninja, Samurai, Wu Jen, Shrine Maiden, and the like?

I'm also curious if Rougaru will be in Howl of the Wild? They sounded like a very cool race in PF1E and I've seen no anthro wolf races unless its a beastkin.

Also one question for funsies. Who would win in a fight: Azlin Rex from Ravenloft (D&D) or Tor-Baphon? (I think that's how you spell his name?)

I thought Drow were removed because its a D&D race and ORK/Paizo wants to avoid copyright stuff and OGL fiasco?

New classes only show up in rulebooks. Tian Xia Character Guide has some new character options, some of which are new class options, but they're not exactly the examples you mentioned.

Oni Shogun wrote:

They will not. We've already announced all of the ancestries showing up in Howl. They're the athamaru (previously known as locathah), awakened animal, centaur, merfolk, minotaur, and surki (new insectile ancestry). A beastkin, an awakened animal, or werecreature archetype will get you closer to a rougaru, but for now, we don't have any announced plans for rougarus.

Sorry to say that I don't really know much about Ravenloft other than some of the basic details of the setting. At a glance, it feels like Tar-Baphon would ultimately come out on top, mostly because of the difficulty of destroying his soul cage.

Drow are absolutely gone and aren't coming back.

Gone without inside reason?

How can you say there is no reason? Dude they are a D&D race through and through. Paizo wants to avoid WOTC/Hasbros frankly, scumbag tactics with the OGL stuff.

Drow as Drow are gone. Doesn’t mean that elves that live in the Darklands are gone.

Should just name the drow something else entirely now and change their appearance. Are Drow in Pathfinder still connected to spiders?

There's no Drow in Pathfinder. Sky King's Tomb #3 details the Darklands canon going forward - they were a rumor made up by an early Pathfinder, and Serpentfolk are the main baddies down below, now.

Drow don't exist in Golarion and it's as if they never existed. Going forward, ayindilar elves will fulfill any Darklands elves needs and mechanically, you can play a cavern elf to scratch that "elf that lives in the dark" itch. Any further discussion on ayindilars, drow, and so on should probably be in its own thread!

What of the video games? Wrath of the Righteous has that drow you encounter. Will those follow different "rules" per say?

Don't you mean "There's no Drow in Pathfinder NOW"? Did the PFE1 drow have a connection to spiders?

I made thread about Drow and Oni Shogun should come in.

So... will Vegetable Lamb grow these?

  • snapdragon
  • carnation
  • Garlic scape
  • Chinese leek scape

Hey Luis, I had a question about hags in Monster Core. I know y'all talked about how the hags would reflect more heavily on folklore, with the Cuckoo Hags being the most motherly and "birdcage the child" ones, the Sweet Hags being the "Hansel and Gretel" gingerbread house kind, and Sea Hags being the "Little Mermaid" Ursula kind of hags. My question is, which folklore will the Iron Hags be pulling from? I'm not familiar with any overly-physical hags in fiction or folklore, so I was curious of what tales y'all would be pulling from (also decided to ask, since heavy coverage of hags already happened, so not sure when the next chance to ask this would be).

The iron aspects of them (teeth, claws) are a reference to Baba Yaga. In folklore, she's often noted as having iron teeth. The whole bit about kidnapping children and locking them in towers draws from Rapunzel.

So Iron Hags would be kidnapping them and locking them up, or is that a general Hag aspect? Or maybe an aspect for the Cuckoo Hags? 'Cause I was thinking of Rapunzel for them, honestly.

If iron hag is replacing D&D's annis hag, it may also be taking from the same inspiration, Black Annis.

Shadow Lodge

In Beck, et al., Pathfinder Lost Omens: Firebrands (2023), Yana Mashilene is identified consistently as: (1) Vulmia Manux's wife (see id., at *49, 51); and (2) a member of the Salt Breakers "who can sense weather patters and ship movements through her connection with the ocean." Id., at *51; c.f. id., at *30 ("[A] unique self-designed practice that she calls 'listening to Mother Water...' helps Yana predict upcoming weather events, sense unusual ship movements, and find troubled shores."). It appears from these consistencies in her typical acts that pages 30, 49, and 51 are describing the same person.

However, Firebrands gives this person two inconsistent micro-statblocks. On page 30, it calls her a chaotic good female elf arcanist; but on page 51, it calls her a neutral good female human storm singer. Alignment aside (having gone by the wayside), is she meant to be an elf arcanist or a human storm singer?

Or, alternatively, is the book supposed to be describing two different people, and is the coincidence of their acts' descriptions just a coincidence? If this is the case, which one is Yana Mashilene and what is the name of the other person?

The CG female elf arcanist descriptor is the correct one. Thanks for pointing it out!

Luis,

I made a more detailed post about this topic here:
https://paizo.com/threads/rzs4g1s7?Syu-TakNwas-ability-to-to-grappledisarmt rip

But basic question I have is, in the Fists of the Ruby Phoenix, the character Syu-Tak Nwa, how does she grapple other characters if she has no athletics skill?

Thanks!

Paizo Employee Rule and Lore Creative Director

This adventure path was written before the remaster, when Grab was just an automatic function rather one that required an Athletics check. I would say the easiest thing to do is give her a moderate Athletics bonus for her level. That would be +25, +28, and +34 for her respective stat blocks.

Hi, Luis! I was wondering if the pre-Remaster primal dragons associated with Elemental Planes and the Shadow Plane/Netherworld, like the magma, brine, crystal, cloud, and umbral dragons, are still considered primal dragons after the Remaster?

We're undecided! Most likely yes, but we haven't had an opportunity to revisit those dragons.

Hi Luis, in Divine Mysteries, do you have any Herald or Servitor statblocks? Is the structure going to be similar to gods and magic, or what are the differences besides new spells, feats and archetypes?

Two questions for PathfinderWiki purposes:

1) In the Adventure Rusthenge we are introduced to two new villages, Osprey Cove and Iron Harbour, located somewhere on the southern half od Chakikoth Island. Where are these villages exactly? We would like to update the Wiki and put them on the map but we lack a location.

2) Can adventures, paths, modules and one-shots please include the location of new settlements in the future? It's kinda hard to triangulate and keep the worldbuilding consistent on the Wiki without such details. A little side bar map, location pin, and subheading of "Where in Golarion" helps quite a lot.

As you saw, the book didn't include any statblocks. The book was already packed with everything else, so there wasn't a chance to include them. I'm aware of the desire for heralds and servitors, so I'll be keeping an eye out for a good opportunity to include them in the future.

I don't have an exact location for these, as these were handled in an adventure. I'll speak with James Jacobs and see if we can get a proper answer for you, as well as include specific locations on maps in the future.
