I love Datch. I have never seen any other NPC with the same ability to make the players yell and shake their fists in the air.
Mind you, I'm not expecting any grandmaster torch like divide over this. Mass murder, attempted...whatevers bigger than mass murder,
The rats gonna go splat

Assuming she doesn't, like, ascend as a demigod avatar of a particular rat-affiliated goddess or something.
I could see Thursty doing us like that. And we would deserve it.

Ooooh, I would like to hear more. Why do we deserve it? Legitimate question - not trying to be snarky on the internet :) Did we do something specifically to warrant a demigod who hates us? Or is it just the general, ah, 'crapulence,' shall we say, of the org play community :D

Paramilitary archaeologists.
Like, how many cultures have we made first contact with? How many locals have we murdered because we were surveying in force rather than quietly observe and record? And even if we didn't murder the locals, we sure did upend their way of life with our simple presence.
As good press as the Starfinder Society has gotten, we're still murderhobos at our core.

We killed the last demigod who hated us...

I'll have you all know that I recently assigned the concluding interactive... and all of your theories MAY be true :P
But for real, I'm so glad that Datch has been as well-received as she's been. I know when John and I concepted the idea of "Grandmaster Torch Levels of Provocation in a Season" it was something we weren't really sure if we could pull off convincingly. I like to think the authors out there have done a really good job of bringing Datch to life, and even including a few little "nods" here or there are players (and GMs) get to participate in this season.

Wait a sec, are you saying I'm not playing Starfinders right because I don't play characters who shoot first and always fight lethally? ;-;

I enjoy a good whisker-twirling villain, but I'm really curious what Datch's plan is and why she's trying so hard to provoke us :)
"We've uncovered evidence of one of her larger operations and in order to keep it from being as simple as letting the rat out of the bag she's smearing us so she has plausible deniability when we go public with her plan to..... "
beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

You first become "acquainted with Datch" in 2-01 Pact World Warriors, but she's liberally sprinkled across most of the other "meta-plot" season 2 scenarios.
I haven't played everything so this may not be exhaustive, but beyond 2-01, she's in (or her presence is felt, to one degree or another, in):
2-02 Waking the Past
2-05 Meeting of Queens
2-06 Stumbling Society 1: Sangoro's Lament
2-08 Stumbling Society 2: Sangoro's Gifts
2-09 Bluerise Breakout
2-12 Colossus Heist
2-14 Data Purge
Without really getting into spoilers, it's more oblique or inferred in some (like 2-02 and 2-12) more than others. As far as what is really inspiring all the feelings of Datch being the sentient that everyone loves to hates, though I think it's really 2-06 and 2-08 that are to blame :D

Without getting into spoilers, it looks like we're going to retroactively discover that she was ultimately behind several Season 1 scenarios as well.
More reason for the murder death kill.

...or to keep them alive so they can *suffer more*.

I'm starting to think we first encounter Datch in season 1 during 1-14 Star Sugar Heartlove. There was a female Ysoki that was telecommuting via robot with a story how her vacation was canceled. Her name was Diwata but I believe it was Datch with a cover story. The robot was a method to safely observe and in needed interfere with stuff. Hack she was from the Diaspora and an upcoming scenario will have us on the trail in the Diaspora after Datch.
With that said Datch has become a favorite npc for me. I hope she is around for a long long time.

*Sarhtaz Beta, a haggard and bedraggled android staggers in.*
"Srahtaz has plan.. give Datch shuttle full of apples. Park it right on her.. right there..." Taps his forehead. "Maybe even engage parking thrusters before doing."
OOC: He dislikes Zo! and Datch for differing reasons. Zo! is just loud, gaudy and says he's 'uninteresting'. Datch.. she irks him on several levels. Hence her spot on the top of his 'top of landing a shuttle on ' list.

I think that skinny desert Vlaka presented that plan last week in blueprint form...

"See? Is as Sarhtaz said.. Best way its shuttle lobotomy." He pats his coil gun calmly. "Place in sights, Sarhtaz show her errors of way before she hurts more of friends"
