So I think my biggest problem with the storm breaker books is that the sword is so powerful vrs regular folks that the author keeps throwing him against enemies that are immune to it by being a construct or some such. while any fight with things the sword does work on are just a vague description of how easy it was with the sword. Also what the sword does is kind of vague. The soul stealing is obvious and when it steals more souls it flames so good intimidation. It also appears to use the souls to increase the wielders stamina but that seems about it so far. I just expected more with how much it is praised. It does cut through most things which is advantageous for sure. could be intentionally subtle. I think he needs to do more description of the combat basically. I did hear he improves as he goes so maybe he will get there.
I do like how old school D&D the books feel though.

He tends to keep things light on technical description, really because (in my opinion) it's more about the overall mood and atmosphere, and he doesn't want to affect your sense of immersion by getting bogged down in explaining how things might work. The stories are also short and move along at a fair clip, so I don't think there's really room for that sort of thing,
The two swords (Stormbringer and Mournblade) are extremely powerful entities in their own right who happen to take that form, and the question as to whether Elric owns the sword, or the other way around is an open one...
Incidentally, get a hold of the Stormbringer/Elric RPG if you happen to run across a copy. Stormbringer's stats in that are ridiculous.

I think my time I will bide, less you think I'm being snide.
I'm watching as the backup fails, hear the tape drive click and wail.
Out spits the tape after minutes few, no way completed did it do.
Management knows that it does this, they have heard me moan and hiss.
Yet nothing about it have they done, if they do then I have won.

That put me in awe of what I saw
That's worth some pride for your pa. Maybe also your Ma.
That sort of skills break the law, not even a little faux pas.
It made the birds caw and the fish unable to close their jaw.
Not a flaw that you can touch with your claw oh pshaw.
Just had to let those juices thaw, and spit it raw.

The other night auditor here had a story a couple of weeks ago about a TV. Guest called down, said the TV had worked when they checked in, but now it wasn't. They were very upset, demanded a new room (with upgrade!) and a bunch of free points. He went up to check it, and it was unplugged. The guest insisted that they didn't do it, that they hadn't been anywhere near the plug. My coworker said he shrugged, said "Guess it was faeries that did it", and left the room. No upgrade, no free points, nothing for the guests. Just a note in the book to watch out for them as they might try to scam free points from other clerks.
