I got my notification that the books were on the way and that I could download the books. When I go to the download it gives me a message that they cannot yet be downloaded.

Any PF2 sub PDFs will be available for download on Aug 1, the GenCon and street date.

I think it would have been appropriate to say that in the notification email.

There was an e-mail confirming this sent out to all subscribers back in June. Granted, its title was somewhat misleading (Opt In Now for Gen Con 2019 Subscription Pick Up!), but it did say how and why will PF2 products PDF be made available.

It would not be a bad idea however, to repeat that information in the actual email sent out to keep confusion from being low.

The email says you can download the pdfs, with a link to your download page. This is "boilerplate" included in every monthly subscription shipping email. As has been side, when you go to the download page, you look for those downloads, and down at the bottom of the page you find the information that they won't be available until August First.

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't find any of this confusing, especially after reading the several threads on the subject.

Perhaps you are just smarter than those who don't spent a lot of time on the boards.

It wasn't confusing to me. I missed the previously mentioned announcement but it only took a quick moment to figure it out.

The Society subscription auth and fulfilment normally occurs in the the last week of the month. Not sure if the PDFs will be held until the 1st like the rest of the PF2E ones though.

I am new to Paizo/Pathfinder but I have seen several mentions that Paizo wants to support/promote local gaming stores. If you preorder your Core rules through your local gaming store will there be a way to get access to a pdf copy of the book either free or even just a smaller charge for a pdf version. Just curious.

Crpillot: nope, at least, not at present. The only way to get a pdf, afaik, is to buy it direct at list price, or get it as part of "Paizo Advantage".

^What Ed said. However, core rulebook PDFs are priced at $15 for everyone, a significant discount from the usual price of a Paizo PDF, which is something like 70% of the print price.
