Lorm,
Character page, numbers, etc., look great!
I also think you've made some excellent choices for your character. Will be interesting to see how he plays out. And gregarious as a demeanour! It will be nice to have at least one cheerful, upbeat team-member on a squad full of dour, secretive malcontents! :)
One thing to add, please: can you create a spoiler on your character page listing your comrade, his background and demeanour?
Thanks and once more nice job.

Eradico Pravus |

Deiros,
Looks like you chose to use the alternate method and assigned points rather than use your original rolls. Unfortunately there is a -3 Willpower penalty for Recon Regiment (change to 27). Also according to my math your Int should be 30, not 32 unless I missed a bonus you get from somewhere, which is totally possible. Adjust any skills on Int/Wil accordingly.
Add your weapons training (Las and Low-Tech)
Talents--Technical Knock is a starting talent for the Engiseer but not the Operator. :(
Add your weapons training talents per the errata (Las OR Solid Projectile, Low-Tech)
Wasn't totally sure which skills you took initially so I recalculated these from scratch. Assuming you took Navigate (Surface), Operate (Surface), and Tech-Use as your initial skills, here are my numbers (also reflecting Int 30). I think there are just some minor changes:
Awareness 33
Common Lore (IG) 30
Common Lore (War) 30
Intimidate 32
Navigate (Surface) 30 (+10 w/100xp advance)= 40
Operate (Surface) 40 (+10 w/100xp advance)= 50
Common Lore (Tech) 30 (gained w/200xp advance)
Tech-Use 30 (+10 w/100xp advance)= 40
Dodge 40 (gained w/200xp advance)
Let me know if my calculations are in error. I already made one mistake while "correcting" Mark's numbers. :)
Did you settle on a demeanour? From your written background you might select:
Sensible-This character consistently makes quick, no-nonsense decisions, usually to his benefit and that of the squad. His squad-mates often seek his advice for their personal and practical problems.
Or come up with your own.
Really like your background and Comrade fluff. I may ask for one minor tweak but I'll get to that later if necessary.
Also I did not get to the vehicles but I assume they are fine. I'll let you know if I see anything that doesn't jibe.
OK Deiros, definitely did NOT mean this to be so long. Makes it look like I'm taking you to the woodshed, lol. Also, nothing is set in stone so feel free to haggle!
The Operator will be a real asset to the squad!

Aaaaaand one more thing:
We have 15 requisition to spend on loadout, which has been spent on:
Upgrade of primary weapon to lascarbine - 5 pts
Add laspistol as sidearm - 5 pts
Chrono - 2 pts
Survival Suit - 3 pts
So if microbeads were needed - we would have to drop the survival suit and one of the weapons to accommodate it.As far as getting items through requisition - microbeads are average availability, survival suits are very rare and both the pistol and carbine are common. There's a much better chance of us picking up the guns / microbead through req rolls than the survival suits.
Is everyone OK with Mark's reasoning? I think the loadout listed above is fine and we'll lock it in. And if the first adventure is any indication, there will be plenty of opportunities for a bunch of penal colony ne'er-do-wells to scrounge up extra equipment. I'm really hoping it leads to some fun role-play.

Rook,
Besides Kaltos and Ellipsis, I think everyone's stats are ready to be uploaded onto character templates for the wiki. Let me know if you need any help with that.
More than happy to Eradico, I should be able to start getting them up on the wiki this week. I'm also open to any ideas/suggestions you might have on the individual character capsule pages, as far as look/style/formatting, as I figured I would start with these first.

![]() |

Methinks our dear Commissar will need to develop some periphery blindness... as I'm expecting we'll accumulate more than enough heretical 're-purposing' of xenos equipment.
True that, Mark, unless Rad intends to make his commissar a 'questionable-morality' officer.
I'm fine with the equipment as-is, but would suggest the first order of business for scavving is the acquisition of micro-beads, which probably will be essential over time for a spec-ops/recon regiment (hand signals only work so far).

![]() |

I was sure my stat line was correct but will check it again tomorrow with more detail, and no problems because of the long post ^^
The walker you might want to check since I had to just basically pull it out of thin air, the Chimera is the same as in the book.
Will use sensible as my demeanor.

I've been talking with Rook about fleshing out the Oremor Regiment a bit. Based on his description of the various populations that make up the 4th, I'm assigning your character to a particular origin 'sub-group' using Oremor vernacular. You also gain the listed skill at no cost.
Reformati -- Reformed prisoners or those that were interred for various reasons (plague victims, loyalty questioned, etc.) in the wake of the Chaos incursion. Due to rehabilitation, Imperial programming and the like, Common Lore (Imperial Creed).
"The Sporchi" (The Dirty) The more degenerate, recidivist prison population sub-group, Deceive.
Straniero -- Soldiers not born on Oremor or part of the penal population (like the Storm Troopers, Commissars, or others), Common Lore (Calixis Sector) OR Common Lore (Spinward Front).
Here are my suggestions but feel free to advocate for a different sub-group if you feel strongly about it. I prefer you not munchkin this just to get a particular offered skill.
Reformati -- Bal's sniper, Rook's Sarge, Lorm's Doc
Sporchi -- Mark's Weapon Specialist,
Straniero -- Rad's Commissar (Lore, Calixis Sector), Ellipsis' Stormtrooper (Lore, Spinward Front), Deiros' Operator (Lore, Calixis Sector)
Note: Lorm, I can see your Medic being drawn from the civilian population just as easily from prison so make that switch if you like. Kaltos, if you prefer your big, buff gunner to be a penal soldier instead, that's fine too. I thought it might be interesting, however, if at least one member of the team was not originally penal. Maybe your the honest farmboy stuck with all these dirty low-life hoodlums? :) Also I prefer only one member be Sporchi and I think ol' "Bloody Minded" Lark is the best choice for that.
But like I said I can probably be talked into anything. :)
Just let me know if this is OK and me and Rook will add it to your character sheet on the wiki.

Hathin De'Lark |

Methinks that among the degenerates and recidivists is where Hathin would feel right at home :)
Deceive is fine as the bonus skill, I rechecked whether there was a Common Lore or Linguistics that suited - but the Underworld language seemed to be focused more at high level crime, than the low level MDK that Hathin would have been involved in.

Lorm Dragonheart |

According to the origin, he would of had to of been a prisoner, released, and then asssigned to the plantation. This would of been before the incursion and the plague. This would explain why he treated the prisoners the way he did. If this is alright, then reformati is fine.

Hi guys, just checking in for all three campaigns.
I should have character sheets on the wiki soon, unfortunately my ever-reliable Charter Communications internet has basically pooped the bed in my part of town tonight, so I am just posting a quick message from my phone to let you all know updates for the games will have to wait until tomorrow.
I'd also like to just open the floor to any suggestions you guys might have on style/content of the wiki. Eradico and I have been brainstorming and have some ideas, but we'd also like to get everyone else's opinion too.

Eradico Pravus |

Yeah, part of my thinking in assigning this skill is that Lark would have to probably put on a show for the authorities at least part of the time that he was "reformed" when in reality he was running numbers, drugs, and whatever else he could put his paws on behind the scenes.
Glad you're OK with it!

Eradico Pravus |

Dol looks great, Cat. I will try to double-check numbers tomorrow. As for stubber ammo, I *think* you start with two clips RAW but I'm house-ruling for your primary weapon you start with one clip in the gun and two extra.
Rook, I forgot about Rad's character so I will give him a once-over too.
Lorm, the background on Doc sounds perfect. Reformati it is!

Eradico Pravus |

I'd like player input (and I'll wave some xp under your noses) on another couple of items.
First, check out the box on the right hand side of this link regarding the British Reconnaissance Corps.
Rook already came up with a great badge with the chit-sickle (lower-left corner of the wiki splash page). 50xp awarded.
1. What about a nickname for Oremor Legions as a whole? I'm thinking "The Forlorn" will refer specifically to the Oremor 4th or more specifically to your Company F. What about something along the lines of Death Korps of Krieg, Volpone Bluebloods, Jantine Patricians, Catachan Jungle Fighters or Gaunt's Ghosts. What is the nickname for the Oremor Penal Legions? Something simple? Something thematic? 50xp for the consensus winner.
2. How about a fitting motto like the British Recon Corps? What is your rally cry? 50xp for the consensus winner.
3. Finally, I'd like to see an invented expletive that is common Oremor jargon when swearing. In the Oremor DH campaign, Wardja uses the Gothic word "skeitan" or "skeit" for defecation. Gaunt's Ghosts use "feth" and on Red Dwarf it was "smeg." 50xp for the consensus winner.
Let me know if you have any candidates for consideration!

Balfic-graa |

Considering we are a penal legion, and the fact a significant portion of the "Legions" had to be cleaned of chaos/zombie taint. My suggestion is the.
"Oremor Expendables"
For swear words. "Frag, Fragging, Fragged" "Zlit, Zlitting"
Battle Cry will have to think on.

Hathin De'Lark |

1. Oremor Legions:
If we're keeping the Oremor part of the name, then I'd go for something like Oremor Jungle Rangers or Oremor Jungle Huntsmen.
2. Motto:
In line with the Germanic / Venetio / Italian heritage of the regiment, I went searching for proverbs and found a couple that I like:
Tute le volpe finisse dal pelisser. English translation: All the foxes end up at the furriers
Chi pecora si fa, il lupo se la mangia. English translation: Those who make themselves sheep will be eaten by the wolf.
3. Swearwords:
Going online and ripping some Italian slang:
fesso v. (vulgar) silly, stupid, foolish, idiotic
oca! f.n. Porca l'oca! Damn!
stronzo m. (vulgar) turd; (figuratively) excrement, turd.

Thanks Eradico!

I'll let the others chime in on these, since I already managed to get 50xp, but would steer them toward suggestions around plantation/prison life for the 4th. As long as it is not the 'Meandering Maulchups' we should be fine.
I can help with this one though, through the Oremor Affliction I've used the rather less than original 'feck' for most of the NPC's oaths---this is pure Oremor profanity and is a catch-all similar to the Terran word it differs only a letter from.
Something a little more interesting would probably be worth the effort to explore, though.

Kaltos Havelock |

Oremor Swamp Stalkers for the regiment name. to keep it separate from the Catchins (SP).
Motto: Yesterday was easy. Tomorrow will be better, for today we win the war.
dren = sh1t
drannit = vile and noisome creature, bad to be compared too
hezmana = "hell"
greebol = foolish
loomas = "breasts"
fahrbot = "crazy"
tralk = "whore"
mivonks = "balls"
thoddo = dumb a$$
yotz = "hell"

Eradico Pravus |

OK, guys, here are our candidates (with a few more ideas tossed in):
Legion Name
Expendables
Jungle Rangers/Huntsmen
Swamp Stalkers
Swamp Rats (think Francis Marion and his irregulars in the American Revolution)
Rogues (This name keeps some flavor of criminal status yet does not label them as complete fodder)
Chime in with your vote or give another suggestion. Rook, feel free to put in your two cents as well.
Legion Motto
Tute le volpe finisse dal pelisser. English translation: All the foxes end up at the furriers
Chi pecora si fa, il lupo se la mangia. English translation: Those who make themselves sheep will be eaten by the wolf.
Yesterday was easy. Tomorrow will be better, for today we win the war.
In boca al lupo! Into the teeth of the wolf!
Do we have a winner? Give input if inclined.
Vulgarities
Any/all of the various curse words presented by Bal, Mark, and Kaltos will work great. I would encourage you to use them in your own posts/dialogue as you see fit. I think multiple dialects reflect the cosmopolitan nature of Oremor. Bal's will be off-world variants that found their way into the Penal Forces, Mark's will be Oremor "low-gothic," and Kaltos' reflect "high-gothic" expletives used by upper class Oremati. I will adopt these within the campaign.
50xp awarded to Bal, Mark, and Kaltos.
Thanks for indulging me with your feedback!

Comrade Orders
I found it interesting that NO ONE chose to invest any points in comrade orders during chargen. Understandable given that new characters start out fairly weak. At the risk of becoming role-playing's most generous DM ever, I bounced this idea off Rook and am now presenting it to you:
One-Time XP Boon at CharGen for Orders
I'm granting each of you 300xp specifically for Comrade Orders. Since some orders cost 250xp, any leftover xp will tracked separately from "regular" xp. Game-wise, this xp was gained during action on Oremor prior to the campaign launch.
Example: Lorm's medic chooses Medicae Auxilia (250xp). The 50xp may later be combined with xp earned through play to buy another Order but may not be used to buy personal advances.
Please post the Order of your choice so we can add those to character pages/PDFs.
Sincerely,
Monty Haul, er, Eradico ;)

I personally like "In boca al lupo! Into the teeth of the wolf!" It fits well considering the Duct Wolves are the natural predators of the planet.
Now that I think about it, a nickname relating to the Duct Wolves wouldn't be a bad descriptive name. The Eldar word for them is Remyr (as revealed to Savalos in the Oremor Affliction by K'lei-eth), corrupted by the first Imperial Guard regiments to come into contact with them (and be devoured by them in the coming conflict) as 'Myr Wolves', and eventually bastardized into 'Mire Wolves'.

Hathin De'Lark |

In boca al lupo! is good with me as well.
For orders, I'll have to go with Hail of Fire for Book.
For squadron names - we could combine a fine Australian regiment name (Rats of Tobruk) with one of Eradico's additions and go with:
Swamp Rats of Oremor

Eradico Pravus |

Sorry I have been busy will try to do that as soon as possible, but I think I hammered those numbers right but just in case I'll go through them again and balance them once more.
Deiros, no worries as I have plenty to do myself. And sorry if I miscalculated. It would not be the first time (eye roll).

Kaltos Havelock |

In boca al lupo! sound great to me as well. As for the comrade ill take Loader for 250. And thank you for the bonus for that, I had to choose to be able to easily move and fire because of our type of combat. At least fluff wise. With the extra 50 and the 50 left over from the 700 I will get simple T for 100.

Eradico Pravus |

OK, unless anyone objects, here are the results:
Regiment Nickname--Jungle Rats
Regiment Motto--"Into the Teeth of the Wolf!"
50xp Awards
Rook-Regiment Badge
Kaltos-Regiment Name (his suggestion of "Swamp Stalkers" prompted "Swamp Rats")
Mark-Regiment Motto (his suggestions prompted In boca al lupo!)
Mark, Bal, Kaltos-Expletives in the vernacular.
And just to clarify, with the advance in Toughness you now have 50xp "regular" xp and 50 "Comrade" xp left-over.

![]() |

All sounds good to me.
OK, Eradico, the PDF character sheets are now up on the Only War wiki for your review under the 'Rank and File' link. Let me know what you think of the page style, I went with something simple, clean and military for the initial design, but am looking for some feedback from everyone.
The individual character capsules will be more fleshed out over time, and any suggestions on style/look are appreciated!

Eradico Pravus |

OK, everybody, the IC Thread is up. Once I get comrade orders from everyone and the pdf pages updated, we will begin!

Anselm Tartare |

Well i did calculate my stats again just to be 100% sure.
WS 32 BS 35 S 30 T 33 Ag 40 Int 30 Per 33 Will 30 Fel 30
15 to BS, +2 Agi and +3 Will and 10 to the rest.
Penal World +3 Ag, +3 T
5 Agility (Operator)
Recon (+3 Per, -3 Will)
+2 WS (Hardened Fighter)
I think this looks decent enough and will roll with this characteristics.
