Anyone beginning their turn (or moving) within 10 feet of an elemental needs to give me a DC 11 Fort save vs. Poison/Radiation.
Uploki |
Fort Save 1d20 + 1 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 1 + 5 = 25
With Uploki's connection to space the radiation that surrounds the solar elemental is easily resisted by the little Ysoki. The mystic takes his pistol from its holster and seeing a clear shot at the creature fires off a charge of energy.

Uploki moves quickly to see the solar more clearly, but keeping away from its radiation field. "Don't want to get too close, that last one nearly had me being sick." He grumbles to himself, his robes catching around his firing arm as he shuffles into a better position to fire at the glowing elemental. Quickly he transfers the pistol to his left hand and fires wildly. He untangles his arm and takes the gun in his right hand one more......

GM Nefreet |
As Blitz endures the elemental's blast of radiation he jams his pike deep, causing the creature to explode in a miniature super nova of light! And then, without warning...
*C-Click*
"Oh Du-UUDE! This is SO going on HOTblogger!"
...everyone gets a comm notification: a wide-angle selfie of Envar and all of you, with Blitz stabbing the elemental in the center.
The caption reads, Envar and friends: 1, Sun: 0
"What a great conclusion to the TOUR! Haha! You guys rock. As Arch Energy's chief procurement officer," which he accents with air quotes, "feel free to take anything you want! It's the least I can do for my friends!"
On the shelves in this room and the neighboring lab you find an armorcrafter engineering specialty tool kit, a fire extinguisher, 2 high-capacity batteries, 2 basic medkits, 3 sets of casual stationwear, a standard hideaway limb (arm), a radiation buffer armor upgrade, two sprayflesh cans, and a least graviton crystal.
The computers here do not have the information you're looking for.
Joven Kevallah |
Out of breath and still reeling a bit from the attack, and radiation of the creatures, "Just... give me a minute here, *pant*cough*"
Joven would like to take 10 and recover his stamina with an RP.
GM Nefreet |
Sure thing! Collecting everything and going through the available computers takes at least that long.
Blitz Kriegen |
Blitz thumbs through the materials they find and stops at the graviton crystal. "I've heard of one of these but never seen it. Can I use this?"
Uploki |
Uploki walks round the room, looks out at the stars by using his datapad to image the view without damaging his senses, after the appearance of the solar elementals. He hums to himself, and abscent mindly says "Envar, what was in that other room? The otherside of the observatory, could we have a look? It's been such fun here, can we see more? I'm sure as Arch Energy's chief procurement officer you can extend the tour to show that room too."
GM Nefreet |
Envar proudly shows off the adjacent room with a swipe of his keycard and another retinal scan.
Two silver doors to the northwest and southwest admit entrance into this chamber with gold metal flooring. Metal shelving covers the eastern walls, while four mounted telescopes fill the center of the room. A central viewing scope aimed upward connects the four mounted telescopes in this room. It looks like the scientists and lab technicians store equipment and personal items in this room. All telescopes and larger apparatuses are fused to the floor and cannot be removed.
The loot I listed above included this room.
"You've pretty much seen all of the fun stuff! The arena, the bar, and here. All that's really left are offices," he audibly whines as he blows at a tuft of pink hair. "I don't usually take people there, though. One, it's BUH-ORING, and three, my mom works there. I mean she's off the station right now, but still."Kiv {Ilsia Kivulia} |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Your mom sound like a real rock in the void. We should go party in there while she's gone. You know, breathe some FUN into the place for once. THAT would be hilarious. Think of it, space beer pong on her desk, hover chair races, and duplicating our butts on the holo-copier. Oh please Envar, can we do that? It might be your only chance to enjoy the place."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Thrien |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Thrien just follows along and listens, playing with the charred metal of his battleglove offhandedly. What was the difference between space beer pong and regular beer pong?
He supposed there was zero-G beer pong, but he doubted that Kiv was suggesting turning off the grav generators...
Charz |
"Yes, Butcher thinks chaos in office space would be fun, like space comedy movies. Talky man and entourage."
He takes several bits of the stuff from the other room, and slots in the radiation buffer. "Would have been useful earlier, but Butcher is not complaining, yes."
GM Nefreet |
"Would have been useful earlier, but Butcher is not complaining, yes."
Riiight?? My group said the same thing when we played ^_^
Charz, Aid Another Diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Envar looks at Kiv, his mouth agape, "Whoa! That *would* be f-," and then he pauses. "Awwwe but she's got cameras and stuff when she's not around. Para-NOID! But I can at least show you where they're at. Come on!"
After everyone collects their "swag" and loads back in to the cramped elevator Envar once again scans his eyes and swipes his keycard... And then scans his eyes, and takes you all to a floor that reads, "RESTRICTED". The elevator hums pleasantly as you descend a few floors and opens up onto a brightly lit hallway... With two heavily armed and armored Vesk guards staring RIGHT AT YOU!
Perception vs Disguise: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
As Envar ushers you all out, the guards step with heavy boots towards you, a fanged smile escaping their lips. One of them reaches out and slugs 1d6 ⇒ 4 Kiv in the shoulder!
"Hey! Don't feel bad. We watched that whole arena fight on our comm units. We had bets you'd score the killing blow! There's always next time!"
And then the guards load up into the elevator, snarl dismissively at Envar, and the doors shut. "I like those guys!" Envar adds (though they were clearly female). He then leads you down to a set of plastic doors.
Go ahead and give me either an Engineering check to disable motion sensors, or Computers check to rewrite program.
Joven Kevallah |
Joven notices... Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 something...
Keeping his voice low...
"This locking mechanism seems the same as all the others but this one I think has an additional alarm. Kiv you want to take a look at it, make sure we didn't set anything off or disable it if need be.
Here let me show you."
Aid: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 (Success! +2 to Kiv's Engineering or Computers check.)
Kiv {Ilsia Kivulia} |
Rubbing her shoulder from the hit, "Uh..thanks. Yeah, better luck next time I guess."
Kiv catches on to Joven and tries to play it low-key. She subtly studies the lock, seeking a way to bypass the alarm.
Computer (with Aid): 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 2 = 25
Stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
GM Nefreet |
A light above the pinpad flashes green! Envar tips his glasses to the side and utters a "Stellar" before swiping his keycard and scanning his eyes again, and the doors open!
This rectangular room is starkly different from the typical gold-and-silver metal decor found throughout the rest of Brilliance. Darkwood credenzas and bookcases complement the wood-paneled walls and tan wooden floor here. A model of the Pact Worlds system, sculpted in gold and silver metal, hangs from the ceiling near the center of the room. Framed parchment maps from some ancient era adorn the walls. The lone visible piece of modern technology is a silver computer console affixed to a darkwood desk on the eastern side of the room. A private climate-controlled and air-sealed balcony overlooks open space to the north. Racks lined with dusty bottles stand along the western wall of the office, watched over by an oil painting of a graceful lashunta woman reaching up toward a radiant sun. Most of the books on the shelves are works of fiction from bygone ages, and the wine bottles in the racks are priceless relics of decades- and centuries-old viticulture.
The computer terminal requires a two-factor authentication to access: a key card and a password. Envar is busy setting up tables for space beer pong, and happily hands you his keycard for "safe keeping" (no Computers check needed). Meanwhile, as you read out loud the security questions to reset the password, Envar randomly chimes in with the name of his first robotic drone, the hoverpad complex he grew up in, and his birthdate (granting you a +5 circumstance bonus to hack the system). There is a firewall countermeasure installed.
You have two options here, as far as I understand Computers checks (which I'm not 100% on, so correct me if I'm wrong). You can 1) simply hack the system to gain the information you're seeking, risking the countermeasure if you fail, or 2) first disable the countermeasure, and then hack the system to gain the information you're seeking.
Feel free to discuss it amongst yourselves before rolling.

Kiv takes the card from Envar and goes to sit at the desk. Alright, Seems straight forward, and we have an out if need be. Now, let's see what we have going on here... Kiv's fingers quickly enter in numerous bits of code she has picked up over the years. I really hope this is good enough. She hits the 'ENTER' key, inwardly concerned. However, on the outside, she maintains her cool composure.
Uploki |
Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
As Uploki wanders into the room, he seems less than concerned about this than the observatory, seemingly bored to be back in the centre of commerce. Instead he looks intently at the computer terminal and its surrounding, at least it might be interesting, before the fun and games start. "Ohh, Kiv did you see that, that's a clever deception, a hidden draw in the desk. And look a data jack!" he claps his hands excitidly and continues to search around. It's some much fun when there's a game of hide and seek.
The ysoki then suddenly stops in his tracks, "Oh, that removeable storage module its trapped." He head moves from side to side looking at different angles at the configuration and docking mechanism. "Hmmmm, its alarmed just like the door! It needs to be disabled before we can take it, if that's what you think we should do?"
GM Nefreet |
A ping pong ball bounces towards you all.
Where did he find paddles?
Charz |
”so Butcher hits little ball and tries to get it in floating cup there, yes? Butcher think he likes the arena better.”
Blitz Kriegen |
Blitz looks at the haxking attempts with obvious envy. "I'm glad someone is good at that; I'm more of a people person myself. The Speaking and Stabbing kind."
GM Nefreet |
Kiv identifies several secured files, but cannot discern any major information immediately. It will take time and a dedicated team to disseminate elsewhere. But the single most obvious clue from the data is that Arch Energy is essentially a *front* that funds clandestine meetings between the members of its board of directors. Each of the directors is hidden by a false identity. This is clearly the data Historia-7 is looking for. Kiv quietly uploads it to her personal storage device and logs out.
You believe the removable module is simply a hard copy backup in case of a catastrophic system crash, and wouldn't provide any additional information. With the added risk of it being alarmed, it is likely best to leave it be.
"S-SN-SNOOORRRE!!"
As you all turn your heads away from the computer terminal you see Envar passed out on a lounge chair with a monumental smile frozen on his face. With quiet footsteps, you make you way out of the room, down the hall, and into the elevator, where returning to the entrance floor requires no keycards or retinal scans. Minutes later, your ship departs Brilliance with none the wiser.
FLAWLESS VICTORY!
You eventually return to the Lorespire Complex on Absalom Station, where Historia-7 eagerly awaits with an already prepared team of Dataphile operatives to decode and record the contents of the stolen files. She offers the slightest slip of happiness when she learns you managed to extract the files yourselves, rather than just bringing back a data module.
“The mission is a success, and you are to be commended. All of you deserve some time to rest before your likely return to a more typical Society assignment.” Historia-7 speaks, momentarily pausing after making her declaration. The android’s eyes stare off past her data visor, as though she were contemplating some additional information. “Interesting. This data you’ve uncovered is... very... interesting. For now, I’ll ask you to depart. I need to summon Zigvigix of the Exo-Guardians. It appears one of his recent offers now aligns with what this data may require us to do. How... unfortunate.”
She does not elaborate on why she needs to meet with Zigvigix or on any breakthroughs she discovered in the stolen data (that's for a follow-up scenario!)
Days after your mission has concluded, you each receive a personalized digital invitation to Envar's 24th birthday party, described as an all-inclusive trip to a pleasure yacht in high orbit over Verces, with a note, “Join me for an encore performance of our glorious victory!” Signed, your best friend, Envar Tamm.

And thus concludes The Solar Sortie!! Thank you everyone! I hope you had a good time!

If I knew what I was doing I'd be dangerous, I gave you the wrong faction, when I gave you the wrong character, it should have been the Wayfinders. If you can change it I would be really grateful.
