Hello everyone,
Recently I've been readoing some builds that expressively refer to a 'human option' to chose between +1 hp and +1 skill point per level. I know that the second option comes from the 'skilled' racial trait, but I have been unable to find which trait would allow you to pick +1hp instead. I cannot even find the option in the reference document for Humans as a race.
Does this option actually exist, and if so what source is it from?
EDIT: since everone seems to point out it's from the favored class bonus, this is not the case. I'll post this example from optibuilds.com below:
(zen archer build):
"Race/Racial Traits: Human / Focused Study (Replacing Bonus Feat)
Favorite Class Option: 1 Hitpoint / level
Human Skill / Hitpoint Option: 1 Hitpoint / level
Traits: Adopted (Animal Friend) & Dangerously Curious/"
This build somehow uses both the favored class bonus for hp AND has a way to turn the +1 skillpoint from being a human into an additional +1 hp per level. I cannot find any alternate racial feature that would grant this option, but i'm assuming there would have to be something...

The skilled racial trait is something different. The option to choose between another hit point and another skill point is from the favored class bonus, sometimes abreviated FCB. When you make a character, you choose a favored class, and every time you take a level in your favored class, you get a bonus. It can be a different bonus at different levels. I believe it's in the core rulebook.

It is, and the bonus hit point or skill point is for every race, not just humans, though other races have different additional options.
Every race has the option of choosing +1 HP, +1 Skill point, or another favored class bonus (if there is one) whenever they take a level in a favored class.
The special thing about humans is that they can qualify for the "Fast Learner" feat which lets them gain both +1 HP and +1 skill point every time they take a level in a favored class.

It's not a human specific ability. Basically when creating a PC you get to choose a favored class which means you can choose between an extra hp and an extra skill point every time you increase the PC's level in that specific class (including at first level).
The rule is from the CBR but there's also other options included in later modules (like racial specific class favored bonuses, for example instead of choosing between the +1 ho or the +1 skill point a human fighter can choose to add +1 to the Fighter’s CMD when resisting two combat maneuvers of the character’s choice, while a dwarven fighter could choose to add +1 to the Fighter’s CMD when resisting a bull rush or trip).

But the Favored class bonus is the choice between +1 HP, +1 Skill or the alternative for your class. This is in addition to the Skilled trait the Human possesses.
I Always put my first 3 levels into +1 HP just to survive.

Can you provide a link to this?
You're probably misinterpreting what they're saying. Everyone gets the option to choose between +1 hp per level or +1 skill per level.
Human gets the skilled racial ability, which already adds a skill point per level.

The status block(s) I'm referring to is/are this/these:
Character Name: Zenith, the Great (“Zen Gee”) Race/Racial Traits: Human / Focused Study (Replacing Bonus Feat)
Favorite Class Option: 1 Hitpoint / level
Human Skill / Hitpoint Option: 1 Hitpoint / level
Traits: Adopted (Animal Friend) & Dangerously Curious
This is an example of a number of builds from //www.optibuilds.com/ where it is used more often.
As stated, these builds use both the Favored class bonus and apparently have a way to pick a +1 hp option instead of the +1 skillpoint from being a human. It is however never specified where this option comes from.
(Just so it's clear, I do know about favored class bonusses)

It seems this thread somehow got double posted, for that my apologies. But I'll post an example from the build in question:
"Character Name: Zenith, the Great (“Zen Gee”) Race/Racial Traits: Human / Focused Study (Replacing Bonus Feat)
Favorite Class Option: 1 Hitpoint / level
Human Skill / Hitpoint Option: 1 Hitpoint / level
Traits: Adopted (Animal Friend) & Dangerously Curious/"
This is from the site optibuilds.com, in which a number of builds use this option. The builds seem fairly well optimized and legitimate. However, as stated above, it uses both the favored class bonus for hp and somehow has an option to take +1 hp instead of +1 skillpoint for being a human during a level up. This particular build also has int 12 and doesn't qualify for nor ever takes the fast learner feat.
It's this option to somehow replace the human racial skill point per level with +1 hp which confuses me.

It's in the Classes section of the Core Rulebook.
Here's the rule citation.
Each character begins play with a single favored class of his choosing—typically, this is the same class as the one he chooses at 1st level. Whenever a character gains a level in his favored class, he receives either + 1 hit point or + 1 skill rank. The choice of favored class cannot be changed once the character is created, and the choice of gaining a hit point or a skill rank each time a character gains a level (including his first level) cannot be changed once made for a particular level. Prestige classes (see Prestige Classes) can never be a favored class.

The build just seems to be plain wrong.
