Fan Scenario: Save the Mayor!

Homebrew and House Rules

I mentioned the idea for this a while ago, but here it is more fleshed out. I'd love to have more feedback when others play it. This is probably an adventure deck 2 or 3 level scenario.

Save the Mayor!
The mystical activities of a local sorceress have ripped open a fissure to the Outer Sphere, letting evil forces flow through into Sandpoint. The leader behind these evil beings has kidnapped Mayor Kendra Deverin. Find the Mayor, rid Sandpoint of these evil forces, and close the portals to the Outer Sphere.

Villain: The Sandpoint Devil
Henchman: Lucrecia, Wrathful Sinspawn

During this Scenario:
After constructing the location decks, summon Mayor Kendra Deverin and 1 random blessing for each henchman in the scenario. Shuffle them into a stack and then shuffle 1 card from the stack into each location.

If while examining or exploring a location you discover Mayor Kendra Deverin, place her next to your character card. The character displaying Mayor Kendra Deverin may not evade an encounter, all his checks are decreased by 1, and he is granted 1 additional exploration per turn.

If the character displaying Mayor Kendra Deverin fails a check to defeat a bane or acquire a boon, discard 1 card from the blessing deck, then shuffle Mayor Kendra Deverin back into a location by following the rules for when a villain escapes.

When you defeat a Wrathful Sinspawn, if you fail to close the location, shuffle the Wrathful Sinspawn back into the location deck.

When you defeat the villain, follow all the normal rules, except you do not win when the villain has no where to escape. Banish the villain instead.

To win this scenario, have Mayor Kendra Deverin displayed next to a character and have all the locations closed.

Locations:
1 Acadmey
1 Desecrated Vault
1 The Woods
2 Shimmerglens
3 Farmhouse
4 Thassilonian Dungeon
5 Prison
6 Deeper Dungeons

Here is my thinking on the flavor for this:
Having the Mayor in tow makes things harder on your character, because you have to take care to protect her as well. And if you fail a check you lost sight of her for a moment and have to go find her again.

When you close a location, you are closing the portal there to the Outer Sphere. If you don't close it, another Wrathful Sinspawn pops through.

The extra blessing in each location (except the one that gets the Mayor) and the Mayor's free exploration per turn power should help make up for having to close all the locations. So too should shuffling the Wrathful Sinspawn back into the locations.

Anyway, if you play it, let me know what you think.

I think you should put a rule in that tells you what to do with Mayor Kendra Deverin when you close a location that had her in it.
Normally she would be banished, but than you can´t win the scenario anymore.

My intent was that you have to examine the location location deck when you close it, so the rule about acquiring her when you examine would apply. The same would be true if you found her via Spyglass, Detect Magic, Detect Evil, Augury, Scrying, Brodert Quink, Harsk's power, or any other case where you looked at the cards. Basically, other than knocking the cards over while reaching for your drink, if you see her, you get her right then. So if the game instructs you for any reason to look at the cards in the location decks and you see her, she's yours and gets put next to that character.

If you succeed at meeting the When Closing requirement, search through the location deck, take out any villains, and banish the other cards.

That one doesn't technically say examine, which I find interesting now that you bring it up. I wonder why not.

If You Defeat the Villain, Close the Villain’s Location. You do not need to fulfill the When Closing requirement. Examine the location deck; if there are no additional villains in it, banish all of the cards and flip the location card over.

That one does say examine.

But anyway, my intent is "you see her, you have her".

FYI: While in theory this scenario would work with any unique ally as the captive of the Sandpoint Devil, Mayor Kendra Deverin would be super powerful if used as an ally in this scenario. That is why I settled on her for the captive, so she could not be in a character's deck.
