I've got a shih-tzu that thinks it's a drider...mainly because it formerly was one!
So, My hedge witch hit a drider with a Baleful Polymorph and it made its Will save. We now have a shih-tzu that has drider hit dice and hit points.
Being the kindly soul that she is, said witch wants to keep the shi-tzu/drider (a.k.a. Drih-tzu) and care for it until the end of its new natural lifespan.
My questions are as follows:
1. Can I just write it down as the standard gp cost for a lap dog?
2. Since it mantains its drider hd and hp, does it count as a "combat pet" as described in the guide to organized play?
(Thus, only allowing either the 'Drih-tzu' or her trusty assistant Riddywhiple to go into scenarios with her).
3. Am I even ALLOWED to keep the poor beastie at all?

Why would an enemy combatant come under your control for future scenarios? The polymorph school doesn't grant mind control.
And if it made the Will save, then it retains its knowledge of what happened, and now simply wants to kill you via its dog form, or escape you if it realizes the new form isn't powerful enough.

Yes...I know that it knows that I know it still knows. She's not trying to "mind-control" it! She feels for its current situation but knows that it is less of a threat in its current form.

Technically you can not keep the pet. But you can buy a dog and roleplay it is the drider. but it would have dog stats and for all intensive purposes be a dog.
But, it already IS (for all intents and purposes)just a dog save for the stats as dictated by the spell.
It still retains its class and level (or HD), as well as all benefits deriving therefrom (such as base attack bonus, base save bonuses, and hit points). It retains any class features (other than spellcasting) that aren't extraordinary, supernatural, or spell-like abilities.
Besides, wouldn't playing a Int 2 creature as an Int 15 one be re-skinning? Which last time I checked as not really allowed in PFS.

Ooo, and eventually it will come to adore you for the tasty dog food you provide and you can take the leadership feat to get it as your cohort. I think that is an awesome little bit of fluff and it would be fun to see someone feeding their "pet drider" at camp and during briefings, but you know the campaign rules: no painting outside the lines for anything that has a mechanical effect on the game.

If you're aware of the limitations I outlined, then you are aware that the enemy dog is still an enemy, still wants to fight or flee from you, and is in no way a reasonable candidate for a pet.

Also, said Drih-tzu had no class levels.

No. it is not a dog. Infact it only gets +10 on it's disguise. Also it has a ton more HP, saves and better bab than a dog.
You could argue when you brought the dog back to the lodge they replaced it with a normal one not wanting you carrying around a drider as a pet. A dispel magic could cause that thing to revert.

You could always get one of the nonfunctional follower vanities and say it's the shih tzu. People seem generally more accepting of what, say, a Herald might be when it has almost no mechanical benefit and cannot ever appear in combat--so nobody will care what its stats would be.

You imprisoned an intelligent creature (with life goals of using its abilities to cause pain, suffering and death) in the body of a harmless, dependent animal? And you're keeping it alive until it dies of premature "old age"?
I don't suppose you're in need of a Quasit Familiar? Because I like your style!!

In a season 1 scenario my character turned an orc into a frog. Made the will save. My character just said they put it in a cage and the GM wrote it on the scenario sheet and we left it at that. Hasn't really come up again and I just tell the story without any mechanical benefit. If all you want to do is say you did it, and have it as proof of a story, I don't see the harm of it. If you kept it out, tried to have it be present during fights, etc, it's more problematic.

Can we turn this into a "strange things brought over from other scenarios" thread?
My tengu lecturer Bodie Werrun has a taxidermic tiger head. Why? Well, we were playing The Consortium Compact and upon landing on Diobel met a merchant near the shore. I can't remember why, probably just background colour for a Gather Information roll. Anyhow, he tried to sell us a badly taxidermed(sorry) tiger's head. On a whim, and because Bodie thought xe desperately needed an ice breaker for the Overflowing Oyster we were about to infiltrate, I bought it. Later on it was used as improvised throwing weapon, a talking piece and an excuse to exit a conversation.
Before we left Diobel, Bodie took it to a taxidermist because it had been banged up quite a bit and smelled strongly of burnt flesh and sewer and my GM, Atteisti, suggested I get a masterwork tool out of it. So, mwk tool (+2 to Bluff checks to appear innocent).

No. You would not believe some of the things Flutter has made friends with...
A T rex
A fiendish T rex (yes, she did find a way to bring it through time)
A giant climbing frozen ooze
A roc
A bullette
A carnivorous singing crystal (yes, I made a druid that has successfully wild empathied a roc and a rock)
An elephant
A venture captain
2 Giant armored worms
A two headed vulture
A pair of house sized beetles
I bought a chunk of the carnivorous crystal as a Scholar Follower for knowledge dungeoneering. So she will occasionally take a rock out of her pocket, hum to it, and get an answer back.

We're not sure how long a polymorphed into a critter animal lives. In some stories you'd be able to grow old at your own rate, but the rules are pretty silent on it.

A roc and a rock, but not a vrock? I suppose the two-headed vulture is close, but you've got work to do!

Which is why you can't keep it. You may be responsible with a tiny, 15 int cute lil puppy dog, but if we let you do it then someone else is going to do the same thing and use it as a speed bump against their enemis and to cover up for their lack of knowledge skills.

Based on the company it keeps, I've got a good guess which VC this is. It's quite possible.

Well not as complex mechanically as the Drit-zhu...
Mayim has on her inventory at third level...
She likely should have a raven familiar on there too from <redacted> where she used unnatural lust to get it to close with her and she grappled it and carried it off.*
Since the scenario did state we had to flee immediately after the resolution, I spent 10 GP to have a nice cooked Cornish hen sent to the witch with a note "Thank you for the spells."

So, assuming this was allowed (it isn't) what happens when your party gets hit by an area effect dispel magic?
The game crawls to a stop while the GM looks up a stat block and creature abilities from a module he may or may not have ever heard of or own, and the confidence in decisions made by campaign leadership is reaffirmed?

Especially after the unexpected CR bump kills the whole party.

Wait, didn't you say it *made* it's will save?
So it has the following?
Spell-Like Abilities (CL 9th)
Constant—detect good, detect law, detect magic
At will—dancing lights, darkness, faerie fire
1/day—clairaudience/clairvoyance, deeper darkness, dispel magic, levitate, suggestion (DC 16)
It doesn't have to be strong enough to fight you. It just has to get behind the next big thing you fight and give it fire support.

Or it could just... dispel magic its baleful polymorph whenever it felt like it. I would probably do it in the scenario which was played.
Driders are pretty smart. If there was more combats and you carried this with you I would totally have it join the next one after dispeling the baleful. If there weren't more just do it that combat.

I am an idiot. I copy / pasted the list, saw all that beautiful darkness, and missed the dispel magic. Sigh.

The first group that I GM'ed via PbP brought back something very unusual to the Grand Lodge.
They convinced a mimic to surrender, and then to join the Pathfinder Society. To my endless amusement, they asked him his name, and spent resources on him -- healing him, helping him learn to read the hieroglyphics in the tomb. Maurice the Mimic tottered around the tomb, following them the whole way, fascinated by both the treasure and by the spectacle of the Pathfinder Team slaughtering all the other monsters. At the end of the game, both Silver Crusade and Dark Archives wanted to recruit him.
Although they didn't get to keep the monster, a certain faction head did, and this brought great satisfaction to many of my team.

Unusual things my characters have taken from adventures:
My rogue has a life-size portrait of Zarta Dralneen in a state of undress. For...research purposes.
And my Mystery Cultist of Soralyon has a stone from every religious shrine she has tidied up.
I also have noted on a chronicle that my monk no longer has a shadow. She sold it during The Harrowing.

From out of the darkness comes a whisper, "That hardly seems fair."
(There is actually a slight mechanical advantage to not having a shadow. The shadow trap spell specifically doesn't work on creatures that don't have shadows. My Wayang Arcanist would be very disappointed if he came up against your character. Not that he would, being a fellow Pathfinder and all).
