Good. But how many pages will they be? :-)

Given the fact that several things give page-level references to the books, I really hope the number of pages is the same as the hardcover version!

Yaaay! I'm currently running CotCT but hopefully there will be enough left when the hardcover is released.

Did we learn when that will be already? I read September 2016 somewhere but that was not confirmed.

Pocket Editions are the same page count, layout, and content as the most recent printings of the Bestiary and Core Rulebook. They are smaller in dimensions and have soft covers, but everything else is exactly the same.

Curse of the Crimson Throne HC is scheduled for a September release.

Interesting how Hell's Rebels and Curse of the Crimson Throne are kind of similar: it's about liberating a city from a devil-consorting tyrant. Except in Throne it's a gal, and in Rebels it's a dude.

Huh. On Friday we had a severe storm that flooded the garage in our new house. Which is where I out all my books until we were down removing carpets destroyed by the previous tenant's cats. Yay.

All the book boxes were placed on plastic sheeting. Except one little box had one corner not quite on the plastic.

Wherein almost all my Pathfinder hardcovers and Paizo modules were.

***All my super-on sale Paizo modules - destroyed.

***Core rulebook - ruined.

***APG - ruined.

***Bestiary 1 and Bestiary 3, Ultimate Combat, GMG, Monster Codex, UM - damaged, but my what a hairdryer and some patience can do. Thick and readable - what was pristine is now - tome-ish. Monster Codex has a few ripped pages.

***Same for Deep Magic. Fluffy, but usable.

***ACG, Ultimate Psionics, Southlands - escaped mostly unharmed.

Long story short - pocket editions sound interesting. But I think I still like hardcovers. :)

(EDIT - Guide to Darkmoon Vale, Adventurer's Armory and Beginner Box were as wet as modules, but were salvageable - albeit fluffy. Modules have stickier pages?)

Typical.

I just completed my CotCT yesterday. :-)

Isn't that ironic.

Just like the song, it isn't ironic, it's just unfortunate.

I'm sorry for your losses.

My thanks Eliandra. Apart from the actual storm, there was a perfect storm of events that led to the one box being left so dangerously unprotected, and for so long. I'd like to blame a bunch of things, but ultimately, the final burden rests with....myself.

I'd be interested to see the pocket editions, but I still think I'll look for hardcover to replace my Core rulebook. And the APG. One of my favorite books.

Sometimes these finds take the air out what would have been a sweet announcement. CotCT is a great AP. The fact that is coming back is great I guess I will wait for the official announcement to ask some questions regading the AP.

@Oceanshieldwolf - send me a PM with your address and I will mail you a a hardcover Core book and some modules I have.

Dark Archive

I am very excited about both announcements.

I own the CotCT AP single issues, except #8 (part 2) and think it is a very good AP, certainly better than RotR, which is great too (GM-ing part 5 now).

With parts 1-3 sold out and only limited numbers of 4-6 remaining, it makes commercial sense too.
Also it is kinda hard reworking some encounters from 3.5 to Pathfinder and i am glad that i don't have to do it.

While i think it will take about 4 years more after the 2nd Anniversary Edition release, i am hopeful that we get a "Second Darkness" conversion too, because it is very good in parts #3, 4 & 5 and needs only a more detailed Riddleport Campaign Setting and a reworked finale to be awesome.
Also it is very pricey to get the single issues from anywhere else, even if Paizo offers them for $10.

The pocket editions are a great idea, because:

1. Lighter and smaller for better transport.

2. Cheaper and of actual printing.

3. A good way to replace the old and worn book which is falling apart.

I will buy all 3!

I loved the pocket edition of the 3.5 PHB. I just know I will love these ones too :-)

so which one will be the next AP to be updated?
Second Darkness (that will need lots of work) or Legacy of Fire?

A little early for that, isn't it.

YES!

Every time those threads popped up I kept saying it was going to happen and be a 2017 release to coincide with the 10 year Pathfinder AP line and 15 year Paizo company anniversaries, but getting it sooner is even better!

Thank you Mr Jacobs, seven blessings to you.

Cool news.

I am currently collecting the volumes of Curse of the Crimson Throne for reference. I really like the city of Korvosa. It's a matter of taste that I don't like the story arc of Curse. I still plan on using material from it for the presentation of Korvosa in my campaign, should the player characters ever want to go there. An updated hardcover would be an excellent resource for me to pillage ( ;)) for material.

Very excited for this! I had been considering running Crimson Throne but the task of converting most of it was putting me off now i just can't wait.

Ooh, I wonder if his means we get an updated Korvosa sourcebook in the Campaign Setting line.

Dark Archive

can we get a product page with a cover mockup?

We're working on it.

Also, a quick update. The PowerPoint slide photo that's floating around does have one mistake on it. The price of the Curse of the Crimson Throne hardcover will be $59.99.

Thanks, and sorry about the mix-up!

Once I saw the image I knew it was an error given the price point of Runelords Anniversary compilation. I am curious as to what other support material could be coming along for the ride (pawns, maps, miniatures, etc.)

Thank you Erik, James, and the rest of the staff for making this happen. I truly appreciate you listening to what us fans have to say (even if it is ridiculous at times). A heartfelt thank you from one gamer to another.

I just ran CoCT a couple of years ago, but I am going to snap up a hardcopy of this the moment it is released. This is hands-down my favorite AP and I will definitely run it again in the future. Gaming groups change over time and I'm certain that in 10 years I'm going to have a whole group of people who haven't experienced this little gem, and I'll have the nice new hardcover to use when that happens!

I finished my CotCT campaign last year. Now I need another group to play it again xD

Sold! :) Finally!

This was the only thing I could find on the subject of pocket rule books for Pathfinder. I... had to squint a bit, because I wasn't sure at first if the expected date was correct.

So... on the presumption that time is now progressing backwards, we can expect a release in approx 2 years time? >_>;

More seriously, can someone provide me with a link to the news of the pocket books please?

I don't have a link to the announcement, but here is where you can preorder the pocket edition for an expected October shipment.

Here's the best announcement of the pocket editions I'm aware of.

They're also referred to as already announced in Friday's minis preview blog.

This creates an interesting dilemma for me, I was going to make Crimson Throne the next campaign I ran after my current Runelords game, but, since the rules were 3.5 and were going to require conversion anyway, I was going to take the plunge and convert it to 5e. Now I'm unsure if I should stick with the 5E plan, or just go with the shiny new PF rules Hardcover.

Choices, choices.

Assuming they publish the hardcover Crimson Throne in the same manner as the hardcover Runelords, there'll be all new content to be had. And, if they do a deluxe edition, it'll include some pretty neat player handouts. So, if I were in your shoes, I'd wait for the Pathfinder version.
