The rider and her mount both blush and sheepishly avert their eyes from the clapping man, obviously a bit embarrassed. Oh, I . . . I didn't know anyone was watching. Yes, yes of course you can practice here. Rainbow and I here are very good at fighting in tight quarters. the strange shadow-creature stammers out.

Obviously very self-aware, the two make for a corner of the practice area. I guess we should do a bit of a cool down, maybe a bit of light sparing? the strange pink creature ventures in a semi-hushed tone.

Yeah, alright the rider replies, and grips her lance in both hands. The two begin, very self-consciously, sparing; the rider's training lance against the creature's very long horn.

I'm sure I have NO idea what you mean. It most certainly hope it is not a reference to another intellectual property owned by someone outside of PAIZO, as that would be copywrite infringement and I most certainly would NEVER engage in such an act. That being said, all summoned Eidalons do have a glowing rune visably on them when summoned, and Rainbow Legacy's does so happen to be on her flank, yes

Liberty's Edge

"That was some superb handling of your..." Remus, a halfling sitting upon wolf, states before feeling stumped looking at the strange equine-like creature.

Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

"Oh! An Eidolon, ok, that makes sense. Yes, as I was saying, that was some superb handling in that charge with your Eidolon friend there. Grolf and I have certainly been striving to attain that sort of control, though I suppose we need more experience before we can master that sort of maneuver." Remus resumes, petting Grolf's head. "However, I suppose talk is just that, perhaps I should show off my own skill."

Remus dons his shield and readies his lance before giving a sharp audiable cue to Grolf, who in turn springs to a powerful charge, the lance readied to strike the dummy. In the midst of the charge, Remus recites a short battle cry, inspiring himself and all allies in his midst.

Lance Charge, non-lethal: 1d20 + 15 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 15 - 4 = 25

Mount Charge, non-lethal: 1d20 + 13 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 13 - 4 = 19

Remus' lance hits true, squarely in the center of the dummy's chest, whereas Grolf's bite seems to nearly rip the dummy's leg off. Remus gives a clicking noise with his mouth and Grolf comes to a halt several yards away from the dummy. Remus rests his lance on his shoulder and looks to Twilika, grinning slightly.

"So, how was that?"

Silver Crusade

Oh, my The sheepish rider responds. It seems like the two of you are much more . . . accurate than we are. And I mean, we weren't trying to show off or anything. It's just . . . well, that was the first time we had managed to do 'the wheeling charge' as it's called. See back when I lived in Lastwall, I saw the paladins there to that maneuver all the time. I thought it was easy, but . . .
The Eidolon interrupts
It's actually really hard. I don't know how I'm going to learn to do it while flying. Her words are earnest as she stretches her wings and looks at them, a bit confused. We've been trying to do it before we joined the pathfinders even.

And I am Rainbow Legacy, it's a pleasure to meet you The Eidalon bows her head gracefully.

Now, I don't want to seem rude, and I certainly not trying to be presumptuous, but I noticed you may be loosing some power on your swing. When charging with a lance, or any weapon, really, you can lean into it just as you swing to add some extra umph to your hit. I didn't used to do it either, it takes some practice . . . but it's worth it I think if you do a lot of charging from . . . she looks around at the current mounts in the yard. creature-back. Twillika proceeds to show the basics of the Spirited Charge feat.

Remus replies, placing his lance in its place on the saddle.

"Yeah, but I've been making an effort to keep Grolf up to par, so unfortunately my own skills have fallen back a bit. However, I agree that learning to strike with more power would certainly be agreeable. So...by all means." Remus gestures to indicate that he's ready for her to proceed with the demonstration, as he settles forward to better point things out to Grolf.

Well, I'm not originally from Lastwall, of course, but I grew up there. My family . . . well, we didn't see eye to eye, so when I was very young I moved there on my own to become a paladin.

Twillika slowly mounts Rainbow and the two back up to a corner of the yard. They begin speaking in a strange language.

Speak Wayang or DC 20 linguistics check:
Twillika simply says "Okay, nothing fancy, just a straight charge" to which Rainbow replies "You got it."

Twillika and Rainbow bear down on a dummy, moving in with full force. At the last second, Twillika really leans in with her lance, adding a surprising amount of weight and force to the strike.

Lance charge: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33
The training dummy is set up with realistic vital points, allowing it to be critically hit . . .
Conformation roll: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32
Critical hit with spirited charge lance, x5 damage!: 5d6 + 35 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 3, 6) + 35 = 55
Power attack natural attack from Eidolon: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Barely hits AC10
Power attack Eidalon damage: 1d6 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
Twillika deals with the 5 points of hardness, and penetrates 5 inches of wood (10 HP/inch) where as Rainbow bypasses another inch (5 hardness, 10 HP) Combined the two obliterate the training dummy.

The two come to a stop after a few moments to look back at what they did. Oh dear! I think I went overboard. I . . . ooh, I'll have to pay someone back for that . . . oh dear. She looks genuinly worried about the poor training dummy.

Liberty's Edge

"Impressive! If that were a demon it certainly would be questioning retaliating against you after that!" Remus states with awe, clapping his hands in congrats. "As for the dummy, I'm certain that there are enough carpenters and crafters to replace the dummy, so you probably shouldn't concern yourself about it. After all, it's what they're here for."

Grand Lodge

Silver Crusade

An imposing figure wrapped in gleaming mithril with with wicked protruding cold iron spikes rides into the training area atop a large black bird, reins gripped in a steel gauntlet wrapped in white cloth with gold embroidery. The bird wears leather and mail barding fashioned in harsh, jagged patterns similar to the rider's plate. Both feature Chelish roundels worked into the patterns, and the rider carries a longsword on one hip and has a small iron icon of a longsword surrounded by a sunburst formed of welded iron nails hanging from the other hip. The rider's saddle and legs are obscured by red and black robes, and flickering light occasionally dances from beneath them.

The rider and mount survey the grounds and their gaze lingers on the pathfinders practicing their lance charges.

Silver Crusade

Marros whispers to himself, "I need to find me one of those mounts." Marros walks up to one of the dummies.

"It's time to put these skills to the test! It's been awhile since I have had to use some of these skills! Pharasma, guide me."

Marros lifts up his hands as he says the last sentence and focuses on the dummy. Ice shoots from his hand, hitting true his target.

"Not too bad. Just need some bigger icicles!" He says with a large laugh.

Silver Crusade

The Hellknight dismounts and strides into the practice area, the bird following close behind. As they near Marros, a husky but surprisingly melodic voice with a crisp Chelaxian accent.

"It's vital to be able to fight competently on foot as well, sir. There are many places you'll delve as a pathfinder where a mount, for one reason or another, is ill-suited to the task at hand or just plain unwelcome. They do offer a high degree of tactical flexibility, though. Especially the smart ones."

She pats the axebeak on its beak.

"Isn't that right, Kantaria?"

Silver Crusade

The large bird nods sagely before responding, "Wark."

Grand Lodge

Somewhat caught off guard by the eidolon speaking, she has a questionable look on her face for a second before squatting to shake the hand of Twillika and the horn of.. Rainbow Legacy. "I-it is nice to meet both of you. Anyway" Dalinia stands up before continuing. "This is the training grounds after all, to improve on combat skills you know of already, and to learn of new tactics. So I don't see why you couldn't train here. People get to learn new things, just like in the libraries of Skyreach! So don't worry about it!" She gives the wayang a big smile when she finishes speaking.

When the hellknight rides in on her mount, Dalinia turns to look to see the new arrival. "Wow, that's an imposing figure. And a neat bird too."

Dalinia stares for a second before looking away. "Well, those two over there can definitely help you. Definitely Twillika and her eidolon." She gestures to them in turn. "She made the target dummy she was practicing with... Kinda explode. So there is that."

Dalinia puts her hands on her hips for a few seconds when Valeria mention Horned Devils. What are those again?

Kn Planes: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
I don't know what those devils are... Sheesh, must be rather rare.

She then turns back to the Hellknight before continuing. "Anyway, there are many tactics that can be learned here, as I was telling our Wayang ally over there. So should be interesting to watch!~"

Did I get ninja'd by a neon horse rider? :P

Silver Crusade

Marros looks to Dalinia and smiles. "Marros Shipsail. It's a pleasure to meet you. As well as you Valeria. I came here to hopefully hone in my skills a little. I have been travelling a long way to make here to Absalom. Some of my skills could use some touching up. Such as my handling of this scimitar. I prefer my dagger, but sometimes you need to get in a little extra blow to make sure your enemies stay down. "

Marros turns back to the dummy, the icicles melted away now. He takes out his scimitar and takes a swing at the dummy.

To Hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

The weight of the scimitar seems to throw off Marros's swing, but he quickly readjusts, striking the target on the neck.

"That could have gone bad." says Marros, still looking at the dummy, seeming to be focused.

Liberty's Edge

"Master? Ma'am, you humble me, I am still but a pupil in the arts of mounted combat. I have little doubts that you and Kantaria are more than accomplished in the arts of battle." Remus replies, his composure someone shaken from the compliment. "That said, I feel as though the tactics of a Hellknight are not for me, I prefer to inspire my allies as opposed to scare my enemies."

Remus shifts himself in the saddle again, sitting more upright to better meet the others in conversation. Which really doesn't help him much as he now sits at about four and a half feet tall

Silver Crusade

Marros looks over his shoulder and says, "Inspiring is always a good tactic for battle. The blessing of Pharasma inspires me to fight for her glory, but having a little more inspiration is always good!"

Marros looks back to the dummy and takes another swing.
To Hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
This time, Marros seems more focused and doesn't lose his balance and strikes the dummy on its side, digging deep into its body.

"Pharasma is good to me as always! Much better! A little more focus went a long way!" he shouts.

Silver Crusade

Valeria bristles a bit when Twillika refers to her as "sir." "Hellknight Wintrish will do, please. Or dame."

She gestures to include Remus. "I've spent quite a time now fighting in the Worldwound, yes, and we are no strangers to battle. But while mounted my technique is rudimentary, little better than swatting at enemies as Kantaria barrels through them. You and your steeds act as one, clearly able to maneuver and strike with great synergy. I would learn that."

She hefts her fiendish helmet and looks at it. "In regard to scaring enemies, I have found that fear is a very powerful tool. The first hint of fear in an enemy makes him a less effective combatant, making him less likely to harm you and your allies, and more susceptible to magical influence. If you can scare an enemy to the point that they lose the will to fight, then you've won the battle without bloodshed."

Silver Crusade

Twillika is clearly intimidated by Wintrish's mere presence. Oh, terribly sorry, uh, Dame. When I was in Lastwall all Knights, male or female went by sir, you see... . She lets out a slight nervous laugh. And-and I'm sure that scaring people is a very useful tactic, b-but it goes against G-Grundinnar's teachings so I-I'm not too fond of the idea.. She let's out a very nervous smile as if she expects the Hellknight to stab her for daring to contradict.

As-as for mounted combat, I don't know how it is for people with mounts who don't talk, but I-I suppose the first step is to treat your mount as your friend, your c-companion. When in combat, if you see someone a-aiming for your mount, try to use your legs to manuver them out of the way. I-I found that they really appreciate that and will work with you better.

Y-Yes Rainbow Legacy relpies. Twillika is r-really good at that. There are several times I would have been hit, but she managed to help me dodge out of the w-way. I-It has helped us g-grow as a team.. The two nervously smile at the Hellknight, hoping their advice is satisfactory.

Silver Crusade

The large axebeak listens and nods intently as Twillika talks about treating mounts as friends and companions, and she exclaims a surprised "Wark!" at the notion of being guided out of the way of attacks.

Silver Crusade

I . . . I suppose we could demonstrate. Twillika ventures tentatively. E-Excuse me, Mr . . . . Mr. Halfling? I don't think I caught your name. Would you mind terribly? Maybe try to take some practice swings and Rainbow, not striking to wound obviously. Just as a demonstration? Is that okay with you Rainbow?

The Eidolon casts a nervous sideways glance at the hellknight. I-I suppose.

Silver Crusade

"I shall take that under advisement, although she rarely comes under attack. I tend to be the more immediately threat, especially to the demons that we typically face. When she does get caught up in area attacks, she is far more resilient to the attacks than most animals, by the grace of the Inheritor. And as far as communications goes, she's quite intelligent. She understands us perfectly well," Valeria continues as she reaches up to ruffle Kantaria's feathers, "although sometimes she pretends not to. Thank you for the advice, madam. We will practice what you've recommended. A demonstration would be a great honor"

"Hello Twillika and Rainbow Legacy it is good to see you again."

His smile turns into a frown as he sees them both look at his new companion.

"The cause of freedom cost another life on my last mission. Sleepy was killed in action against a monstrously powerful Duergar slaver. We finally put him down, but at a great cost. I am here working my my newest adoptee, Dei. So that we may also go out and protect our allies, and oppose tyranny."

I have spent a while in morning. I have not been around on the grounds much recently. My faith in the Eternal Rose helps me through my grief though. Sleepy was more than just a companion. As you know I adopted her into my family; as I have with Dei here.

The foe was terrible and the options before us appeared to be slavery or death. We were trapped withing a wall of moving blades. While he could not land a blow on either of us, he used spells of flame and metal that brought us down. I also nearly died in the fight, but my companions proved victorious. I know in my heart it is better for Sleepy to have died than accept such a fate for her. It was also not just for our benefit or our companions, for we were able to help others due to her sacrifice.

Dei has not yet seen field action, so I am still training him to fight with me. My goal was to see if he is ready to go out with me to protect others."

Looking around, but not apparently seeing what he is looking for, Murgen turns back to Twillika,

"She isn't around is she? I haven't yet had the opportunity to break the bad news to her."

Turning towards the others in the training yard.

"If you truly meant no offense, sir, you would have held your tongue. Impressive defense, nonetheless."

Valeria crosses her arms over her breastplate and continues to watch the cavalry maneuvers.

Dark Archive

"Wow tons of people and whatnot here today." Meridoc trots his (poorly) disguised riding dog up to the crowd. His black enameled armor portraying an infernal theme, while his shield bears the pentagram of Asmodeus, and his neck sports a tricked out wayfinder.

Another halfling knight? A dark one this time?

Dalinia notices another halfling ride to them on a riding dog that has been poorly disguised as a hellhound.

A Halfling Hellknight!? I never heard of such a thing. And a follower of Asmodues too? Huh, guess we Pathfinders attract many weird people now a days.

Dalinia greets the halfling Hellknight as they trot over. "Hello there. A ton? there is only five people out here right now other than you. But anyway, the name is Dalinia, whats your name?"

Dark Archive

"Dalinia, I'm Meridoc esquire, Hellknight of the Scourge, unHoly Vindicator of Asmodeaus, and Darkive member. I have only just recently returned from a jaunt near a weird emerald tower stuck in the ground. A group of Pathfinders who'd wandered in there and needed a hand with the final two levels. Some of their colleagues didn't make it through I guess. Sad I wasn't there to bring them back to life."

"I see you are wondering about my presence at the training grounds. Inded I am a rare participant. Normally I spread the love of Asmodeaus (channel negative energy) and my foes blacken, grasp their hearts, crumple, and die crying to their requisite deities. However, in this last encounter, I ran low on my standard attacks. I even ran out of fire breath for my good little hellhound. (he pats his disguised riding dog on the head.) Luckily I called in the Lord of Law's profane gifts and proceeded to pummel my foe first hand. I must admit it was most satisfying to hear the crunch of bone beneath my mace."

"As you may surmise, I was victorious by the Dark Lord's will, yet I feel a few hours watching the lists would serve me well."

Liberty's Edge

I had a great written out response to Valeria, but I lost it. I wrote it out in word, thought I had posted it, and closed it without saving. I'll try to get it written about again, but probably not till Tuesday.

Liberty's Edge

Seeing the training grounds empty, Remus rides Grolf in, his lance resting on his shoulder as he surveys the training dummies.

"Nice day, good thing for some preliminary training, eh Grolf?" Remus says, petting Grolf's head. The large wolf whines in affirmation, readying himself for a command.

Remus lowers the visor of his helm, and readies his lance and shield.

"Now lessee about matching that little maneuver Twilika had shown off about a month ago, eh Grolf?" Remus gestures with his knees for Grolf to get into a full run, which the large wolf complies with immediately. They proceed roughly thirty feet forward before Remus jabs his knee sharply into Grolf's left side, forcing him to veer 90 degrees to the left, straight towards a training dummy.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21
Damage: 3d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 6, 6) + 5 = 19

The blow strikes true, with quite some force, leaving a inch and a half indent in the dummy's head. Following through with the charge, Grolf goes for the dummy's leg.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
Damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (6, 4) + 10 = 20
Trip Attempt: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

Grolf strike leaves a similarly deep set of indents on the dummy's leg, and pulls the wooden mock-up to the ground with an extreme amount of force. The mount and rider proceed another 30 feet past the target before coming to a full halt. Remus raises his visor, looking back at the dummy, now lying flat on the ground.

"Whew, great work Grolf, that was an excellent effort. Sheesh, if that were an actual enemy they'd certainly be hurting." Remus remarks, hopping off of Grolf with a thump. "Now, lets pick this thing up and try it for another target."

Remus makes his way over to the dummy, picking it up and placing it back in its spot. "Wow, we certainly made some deep impacts here, Grolf." Remus remarks as he examines the indents. "Real person would certainly have troubles walking after a bite like that..." Remus visibly shudders at the thought before turning back to Grolf, who has lain down yawning lazily.

Mea calls down from a nearby tower after watching Remus's wheeling charge. "Hey kid! How'd you teach your puppy to turn when he charged like that? Can you teach me?"

She taps a tattoo on her back and grows a pair of eagle wings to glide down to the practice field.

Liberty's Edge

"I'm sorry, had you been addressing me?" Remus replies, looking in the direction of the Draconic Tiefling. "I'm aware that my short stature causes my kind to resemble a human child in height, but as for physical development and mental maturity I am an adult. And Grolf is certainly a prime example of a well developed adult Wolf."

"As for how I did that, its a technique I've been practicing with Grolf since a Summoner by the name of Twilika showed it to us. It requires a fair amount of co-ordination and trust between rider and mount, and something of a staple maneuver of the Paladins of Lastwall. The maneuver itself is called a 'Wheeling Charge'." Remus explains before climbing back into his saddle atop Grolf (This will possibly bring Remus to eye level with Mea, as Grolf is 5'6" at the shoulder). "The name is Remus Thickfist the Fourth, Lance Corporal Eagle Knight, owner of the Thickfist Ranch, and descendant of famed halfling martial artist, Romulus "Shimmer-strike" Thickfist." Remus introduces himself, bowing politely.

She reaches out to shake his hand. "Hi I'm Mea! I'm a dragon, and a adventure cappin. I do Marshal's arts too! Like a dragon. I read there was a art to turn when you charge people like your woof did, so maybe you or him can teach me that? It should be easy, I am really smart."

The Exchange

A Half-Elf with dark red hair walks onto the training grounds whistling a Varisian tune. He continues walking to a group of dummies and drags a couple to an open spot. Setting them up in a close formation, he takes a few steps back, admiring his work.

He ponders for a bit. "This should be a good test." The Half-Elf takes a few more steps back before getting out a vial and checking its contents. Afterwards, he shakes the vial and tosses it underhand towards the center dummy of the group.

Alchemist's Bomb + Pointblank Shot: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 1 = 14
Should be good enough to hit a dummy.
Alchemist's Bomb Damage + Pointblank Shot: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6

The bomb explodes on the center dummy with a loud "KraBoom!" when it detonates. He frowns at the singed dummies and sighs. "That should have been better. Not enough force that time." He rubs his chin, and ponders what happened.

Liberty's Edge

Hoo-boy, this truly must be a test of petientce for Remus, wether Mea intends it or not...

Remus smiles, accepting her hand and giving a good firm shake. "Glad to meet you Venture Captain Mea, its nice to see that there are those who mingle amongst us lower-rank agents like you are. As for martial arts, I am, ashamedly, not very knowledgeable of them, and haven't heard of any that would allow you to turn mid-charge. My sister, Lupia, had told me of Dragon Style though, which allows you to charge past allies without difficulty, but beyond that I can't really help you, and I don't think Grolf could either."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15 To convince Mea, subtly, to not further pursue the subject. Which I doubt will work regardless of result.

"And, you're a Dragon? I may be mistaken, but you look like a Tiefling to me. I admit, there are certainly Draconic aspects to your appearance, I can certainly say that much, and I'm more than aware that there are those who embrace their Draconic heritage and manifest elements of it physically." Remus remarks with some confusion "Though it is a shame that the mental likeness doesn't necessarily apply. OH GODS, NOILLI IS GOING TO ME A MENACE IF SHE BECOMES AS STRONG AS THIS WOMAN!" Remus thinks to himself, still maintaining his smile.

Grand Lodge

"Yeah I fight dragon style! I can hit really hard. But I wanna fight so I can turn when I charge too. Could you teach me if you can ride me when I'm more dragonny?"

Mea concentrates for a moment and her skin starts to darken, her scales multiply over her skin, and her features start to elongate..

Grand Lodge

...leaving a medium-sized, incredibly muscular black dragon. "Like this?"

She hunches over on to all fours and shifts her stance to be combat-ready, then broadens it to allow her to quickly dodge obstacles.
