Whenever I try to access My Account (or most other areas in secure.paizo.com -- the messageboards seem to be the only exception), I get the screen saying "You have made too many requests for the same page too quickly. Please wait a minute before trying again." This has been persisting for almost a day now and has not cleared up.
I am also unable to edit my posts on the messageboards, and I surmise it is for the same reason as what is locking me out of the other pages on the secure site.

The issue seems to only occur on Chrome 45 (dev channel). Tried with Firefox on the same computer and it works just fine. I thought it may have just been due to a bad session so I tried relogging, however I cannot access the sign-in page on Chrome either (clicking the link just takes be back to the front page).
Checking the F12 devtools, I see that I'm getting 302s back from the server in Chrome whereas in Firefox it just loads the requested page. I don't see any errors or warnings in the console.

I would try clearing your cookies and history in chrome and check any extensions to make sure they aren't causing problems. I downloaded the most recent chrome and gave it all a try and it seemed to work just fine and was really fast. Can you give me the address it's trying to send you to, that might give us a clue.

Clearing cache and cookies didn't work. Also tried accessing in incognito mode (all extensions disabled), and similarly did not work.
This is a capture of the requests/responses for me clicking on the "Sign In" link from the main page while logged out in HAR format, I found an online viewer here that you can copy/paste it into for a visualization. Tried spoofing UAs as well and it still didn't work, so I'm pretty sure it's something with Chrome and not anything with the paizo servers (or at the very least due to a funky interaction between the two), but still trying to figure out exactly what is causing it to trip up.

The reason you would get 302's back from our server when going to a valid url is if it wasn't the right server name or it wasn't coming in https or if it didn't support SNI over TLS. I know that the site works fine for me in 43.0.2357.124 and it says it's up-to-date. Are you running a development build?
skizzerz |
Yes, I'm running the dev channel, Version 45.0.2431.0 dev-m (64-bit) on Windows 7 (OS is fully patched).
After looking at the difference between Chrome and Firefox, I noticed that Chrome was sending the following header and Firefox was not:
HTTPS: 1
Adding that header manually to Firefox and then resending the request resulted in the same 302 redirect chain I'm experiencing in Chrome, so it looks like that is the culprit. It appears that this header is added onto every request Chrome does (whether or not the request is actually via HTTPS), and appears to be based on this draft spec. The commit that added it was back in March so I think this only impacts the dev channel right now, although it may impact the beta channel as well. As far as I can tell, there is no way to disable this behavior outside of installing some extension capable of modifying headers.
This header is also what is causing the other issue I mentioned above (The "You have made too many requests for the same page too quickly. Please wait a minute before trying again." error page when attempting to load My Account -- the presence of the header causes the server to send a 301 that redirects back to itself, which causes the browser to repeatedly send requests until the server blocks it with a 503).

I thought your fix might mean I can now view the RPG Superstar Judges page, which I haven't been able to do for two years because it keeps rapidly reloading and then crashing to the "too many requests" screen, as reported here.
But, alas, it still does the same thing. Maybe next year I'll be able to read the judge bios. :(

Can confirm that everything seems to be in order for me at least on the Chrome dev channel. I also do not experience the issue Joana is reporting so can't delve into why that may be happening.

I can sign in fine, but I can only access the messageboards through a link from outside paizo. everytime I click on my downloads, any messageboards links from within the site, my account, or my subscribtions. I can click on my account name, check shopping cart and wishlists, and browse the store, but that's about it. When I try to access my downloads (or any of the other things I mentioned) it redirects me to the home page (with a "if you are not [account name] click here message at the bottom for no discernible reason) I just spent over $40 dollars on pdfs and I can't download them.
(I know this is thread necromancy, but I can't start a new thread or look for something closer. this is the thread that google popped out when I tried to search for information on this problem.)

The team is aware of the problem.
Yes. Something got broken on the website and we're pretty sure what broke it but are at a loss how to fix it right now. Basically this happened after much of the staff left and is redirecting a bunch of links to the front page. It's likely related to a bad configuration but the person most likely to understand what just happened was sick today. And everyone else was gone for the day except for Chris and myself and I'm afraid this is beyond the powers of either of us to figure out without making things worse. Sorry about the issue. I don't expect that it will be a great big problem but we may have to rebuild some links and some things that link to or depend on those links. We'll see.

FYI, I'm having the same issue, and am posting in this thread for the same reason as Raazan (i.e., this thread came up in Google when I searched for the problem, and I can't get at the message board [or my account] in any other way).
I just bought the Pathfinder Humble Bundle and was trying to figure out how to download it.
Might want to add a blog post on the home page explaining there's an issue, to save more people the headache of trying to figure out what's going on.

Latest blog entry? I was just getting the front page. Would have been nice to know that was going to happen before I bought the new books. Can't even download them now.
I'm being sent to a page that starts with a blog post titled "Misery Acquaints An Elf With Strange Bedfellows!" Maybe that is the front page. I normally go straight to the message boards or my account, so I haven't been to the front page in a long time.

You could try going to each individual product page (they have a tab for downloading stuff) if you've already redeemed your code, just search for the product on google and the Paizo webstore should be the first or second hit.
Hope this helps.
Just heard back that this tactic won't work :(
Sorry.

WAIT! I GOT IT TO WORK!
When you go to the Download tab on the product page and login there it throws you out but if you go right back to the product page it will let you download stuff, I was able to get my copy of Wayfinder 16!

Yay! You're welcome :3

At least you guys can get to the forums, whenever I try to get to any of the message boards I get thrown back to the paizo home page. The only reason I can reply to this topic is because it came up in the side bar >_>
Fix your website!
You can also search for specific threads on google, and once your on them the related threads sidebar is still working.

Yeah, any link that goes to https://secure.paizo.com (such as the main messageboards page) gets redirected to paizo.com, while links to other parts of paizo.com (including individual threads) work just fine.
Looks like the secure server is borked.
This is weird, it seemed to just have been fixed (clicking on "messageboards" link or going to https://secure.paizo.com/paizo/messageboards worked a SECOND ago(after not working at first), and now it's redirecting to the main paizo.com site again.
I can only guess they're in the process of trying to fix it.
(I had to navigate here from my own posts page.)
ETA: And now it's working again 5 min after I posted this.
ETA: And now it's not working again. Huh.

First time I've ever had anything remotely like this happen here Solidus, & I've been using Paizo.com for as long as the site's been active. Had general server crashes, had a couple uber-busy traffic overloads, but never anything like this....
They say patience is a virtue, guess I need to learn it too lol...
