Kyoudai Games looking for freelance writers & designers interested in system conversions.

We here at Kyoudai Games are interested in writers who have the knowledge and skill to convert existing Pathfinder mechanics into thematic and flavorful mechanics for the Savage Worlds role-playing game. To clarify the details below, we're actually interested in providing a writer with a copy of one of our sourcebooks and getting a bid from him/her to see what they feel an appropriate wage would be for converting the mechanics contained within that sourcebook. We have multiple opportunities here so this is not a one-person affair. Please direct all inquiries to shawncarman32@gmail.com and CC zrcarman@gmail.com. Thank you!

Project Length: Variable
Pay Rate: Variable
Additional details: Fluency with both Pathfinder and Savage Worlds required.
Respond by: Your earliest convenience.

Question: on some of the open calls for writing, if the work is PDF only, meaning no print copies, and someone (Read: me!) blows the word count a bit, would you still accept the submission if I agree to not ask for more than the base price? I get a little bit expository in my writing and likely would go above any word count in place.

Individual publishers are going to have their own opinion on this.

But my feeling is that if you can't get at or under your word count you need to reevaluate how you organize things.

Generally speaking even as a PDF there's concerns about space since artwork and what not would be included as well, plus concerns about file size. Simply because it's a pdf does not mean that things like price won't be affected.

For the most part the attitude I've encountered is if you can't get below word count without a very compelling (i.e. a solid idea that seems obvious in hindsight) reason why then it's somewhat unprofessional and more work on the editor.

My advice would simply be to write it out as big as you're going to make it and cut accordingly. Sometimes that feat you threw on the page isn't worth the space. Other times the long convoluted backstory can be summarized in a few sentences. Keep it to what the reader needs to know rather than what you want them to know. Whatever it takes. The only trick is to maintain the quality.

Ah, that makes sense. Hmmm... in that case, I will try to write up a few things for this thread, once opportunities become available of course, and try to see if I can keep the word count on my work down to an acceptable level.

Hobgoblin Hobbies, LLC (DBA is TBA) is looking for illustrators to help us launch our first few Pathfinder-compatible PDF projects. We own two retail game shops (each under the name Redcap's Corner) in Philadelphia, and have been in business for over six years, but this will be our first foray into the world of game publishing.

Project Length: At least 1 full-colour character or monster illustration with no background, though the right illustrator at the right price could see considerably more work.
Pay Rate: Negotiable, but we're starting with a limited budget and would be willing to pay considerably more to an illustrator willing to be paid upon publication.
Additional details: We have an enthusiastic and creative Philadelphia-based writing team in place, and have been doing design, development, and playtesting for over six months. Our products will be finely-tuned, thought-provoking, and most importantly fun. We just need the right people to bring our designs to life.

Ready to self-publish a Pathfinder-compatible book. All it needs now is original artwork for 10 fantasy classes.

Pay Rate: Half of the book's profits; I'm seeking a partner, not an employee.

Additional Details: The book includes 10 new base classes for Pathfinder, so each of those will require at least one portrait. Also, the book is going to need a cover image. If we decide to include more art, there are plenty of other features to explore, like new traits, feats, and archetypes.

PROJECT DEADLINE: The text is done and the designs have been playtested. All it's missing is the artwork and it's ready.

RESPOND TO: Headfirst (message me here at Paizo.com) with a link to any samples you have to show.

Expeditious Retreat Press is looking for authors for three two 1 on 1 Adventures. (We've accepted one manuscript since our last post)

Project Length: 10k-14k words, with target of 12k words.

Pay Rate: $0.01 cent/edited word. Pay on acceptance via PayPal or USD check.

Additional details: I'm looking for two new adventures in our line of 1 on 1 Adventures. We've put out 16, I've two in manuscript form right now, and I'm looking for #'s 19, and 20. 1 on 1 Adventures are for one player and one GM. Any expressing serious interest will be provided examples of published adventures for guidelines in terms of format and style.

1 on 1 Adventures require a different creative hand than standard adventures. For example, any magic that paralyzes is effectively a death sentence when there is only one player (barring the intent to capture, of course.) Prospective authors should take this difference into consideration.

I prefer site-based adventures over plot-based adventures (but any type of good adventure is desired), and am particularly looking for adventures for the more martial classes, but any good adventure ideas are welcome.

Respond by: I would prefer responses occur prior to December 1, 2015 to josephbrowning@gmail.com with title "2nd Paizo Messageboard Call for Adventures." If you're interested, please contact me and pitch me on your adventure ideas (please no more than 500 words in the pitch).
