Hi there!

My name is Felipe Real and I'm the editor at EN World TRAILseeker, a new RPG magazine focused on producing content compatible with the Pathfinder RPG®. Articles are expected to be approximately 2,000 words in length, and adventures are expected to be approximately 5,000 words in length. If you are interested in writing an article or adventure please send a one-paragraph proposal (NOT the actual article or adventure) to farealh@gmail.com

The publication itself won't be launching for a while. The initial focus will be on commissioning an advance stock of high quality completed articles. You can check the submissions page (and read more about the project) here.

Best regards,

F.

Would monster submissions be acceptable?

Also, you just linked to the Paizo Main page.

Yes: monster submissions are acceptable.

Link corrected.

Starting rates of 3 cents per word, work is not work-for-hire, fairly reasonable first printing rights lockout period.

Yep, this is ethical. Well done!

How open are you to archetype and prestige class submissions?

Thanks a lot! We're all really excited about producing high quality material and treating our writers fairly.

Regarding archetype and prestige class submissions, we're very open indeed, so feel free to send your proposal over.

Best regards,

F.

I'll have to cook up something. Most everything I have on deck presently is either 10,000 words+, slated for a writing trade, or components to my next hardcover book. You'll hear from me in the next week or so.

Dotting as well.

Interesting. I'll forward this to my technical writer and see if she and I could do something with this.

I may have found a spot for my weird weapon feats.

Interesting...

So, if we send a proposal when can we expect a response? I don't want to seem pushy, but I am really excited about this project.

The turnaround time per article is less than week, but I'll try to do my best to answer proposals ASAP.

F.

Sounds cool.

Is there a unifying theme for the first issue?

Brother Fen wrote:

Not really. At the moment we're trying to gather a number of good articles, regardless of their topic. Probably in the future we'll consider to give an overall theme to the issues, especially if we encounter ourselves with material that is theme-related.

F.

Well, I have an idea for doing a bunch of love themed monsters for Valentines day.

Two main ideas I have are:

The Eros: A gremlin type which resembles the stereotypical Cupid, complete with arrows that make people fall in love or despise one another.

And a new type of Inevitable focused on enforcing political and arranged marriages, with the special ability that it can engulf a subject and modify them physically and mentally to match their spouse's desires.

I had some other ideas, but I can't remember them atm.

Hi Felipe,

Do you have any limits on the number of proposals you'd like to see from a designer? Is it OK to send multiple (one-paragraph) proposals in a single email?

Thanks,
Phil Greeley

The Exchange

I'm pretty excited about this opportunity! Dotting for interest because I don't have any actual questions at the moment.

Not at all. In any case, quality > quantity; if you have 100 ideas, I'd rather read your best 10 than have to sort through the other 90 that are OK but aren't really that outstanding. That said, I'm OK with reading multiple proposals in a single e-mail (already have, actually).

Best regards,

F.

Awesome. Thanks!

Are you accepting artists at this moment? My wife and myself are willing to take requests.

Yeah, sure. Artists should contact our Art Director, Ken Marable, at ken.marable@gmail.com.

Liberty's Edge

I can't promise anything GOOD, but I will be submitting stuff.

It's been a while since I've done work for someone else's publication, but never let it be said I don't have ideas to share...

I've done a series of world-building and gm-ing tip essays (though work has prevented me from updating them recently). Would you be interested in something like this? Obviously I wouldn't expect to just ask you to reprint something I've already made available for free, but would instead revisit the topics of those essays with a more detailed eye.

Color me very interested.

Seems like a lot of fun, I've got a few ideas that I wish I could have gotten into guides but couldn't since they were homerules, so I have a few archetypes I'd love to work on submitting. Who knows, maybe I'll even throw in some of the stuff I couldn't get in the character building guide.

World-building is one of those topics that I'm particularly interested in so, yeah, I'd be interested in reading/publishing new/innovative material on the topic.

I'm interested in both the magazines, but I have a few ideas that might fall within the "system neutral" heading, and I was wondering who I should send those ideas too? While I'm here, what's the stance on articles about history? I'm a trained historian who has done work on D&D during grad school, and I'd be interested in writing something about the history of the game/hobby (if I could distill it down to 2,000 words!).

Thanks!

System neutral articles can be sent either to me or to James (EN5ider Editor) at joeyhaeck@gmail.com.

I think an article (or series of articles) dedicated to the history of the hobby could be something interesting, although you'd have to make a good job at differentiating yourself and/or add some new info. from, say, the "Designers & Dragons" awesome series of books.

Best regards,

F.

Dotting for interest. What kinds of materials are you looking for specifically?
Are you interested in user developed magic items and/or classes?
Would you prefer game scenarios using existing materials?
Are you interested in creating a campaign setting to start publishing?

I'm interested

Don't mind me, just dotting

We're looking for all kinds of material. My criteria for accepting/rejecting material is based on 3 parameters:

a) innovative at some level (original idea, new twist on a classic, etc)
b) self-contained and
c) well-developed (that includes generic "fluff" that inspires readers and also is usable as is in any campaign).

Considering that—and answering your questions—I'm interested in magic and/or new (core) classes (not so much on prestige classes). Reading scenarios, I'm much more interested in great scenarios rather than the materials they're based on and a new campaign setting it is a rather intriguing idea, although I have no idea how you could turn it into a 2,000 word article to begin with (Perhaps some "10 things about [My World]" type of article?).

Best regards,

F.

Hi there!

In TRAILSeeker we're in our 5th month producing Pathfinder compatible articles and adventures and I just wanted to remind you that I'm still open to receive new proposals for 2,000 word articles. We're not commissioning adventures at the moment.

If you want to know more about the magazine and how to submit your proposals, read here.

And if you want to get free samples of our work, for inspiration and/or to check out a finished article, visit here.

Best regards,

F.
