sword with energy powers vs. armor with energy powers. I think I'll go with the one whose effect ends at some point. The other seems potentially broken.

Congrats on marathon, and preemptive congrats to all that slog over that line!
Next item on the to do list!

I haven't been keeping track of how many votes I've done. Definitely less than past years.
Still haven't seen my item, but it's on the list of items that others have seen.
Noticing lots of weapons that can cast some form of dimension door.

Your items name and description is that of a wondrous item, but it it offers the ability and fits in the slot of a non DQed item.
That's ballsy.
Okay, SOMEONE played PFS Scenario 6-01 and said, "WAAAAHHHH!!! I need an item that will circumvent all the hard technology stuff because all the stuff in the tech guide is banned! My character needs to know everything and has to be able to fight everything effectively forever!"
Needless to say, I voted for the other item, which was better anyway.

"Up Yours, GM!" items are sadly quite common in the opening round of RPG Superstar.
Has there been anyone who has gone on to do well in this competition who hasn't spent a considerable amount of time as both a player and a GM (in Pathfinder or any fantasy RPG)?
There always seem to be a lot of items whose designers clearly don't realize how their item will ruin the fun of the person(s) on the other side of that divide.
Thats three keeps, this ones a ring!

Not since public voting began. In general the public is less forgiving.

An item that actually grants free experience points? NO! No, no, no! No, bad player. No extra xp for you.

I am biased against items that provide a 20% chance of whatever as opposed to improving or decreasing a roll that already is part of game mechanics. That type of roll is very first edition and it is the sort of thing that caused us to need more editions in the first place.
I'm slowly but surely being able to really notice the "F-you GM" items....
I really want to downvote all these items that work similarly to mine, but they've almost always been streets ahead of the other item. *sigh*
An ability that damages opponents and does not require an attack roll nor allows a saving throw. NO VOTE FOR YOU!

I can't recall the person's name, but I believe that someone made the top 32 that was new to the game. There is a blog post somewhere that talked about it.

I haven't run into an item similar to mine in function at all yet. I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
"This item is whatever you want it to be..." (summary, not an exact quote).
Mmmmno.
Lightsaber vs. 299 words. Lightsaber wins.

It would probably be worth mentioning as some advice for entrants to get some experience on both sides of the screen.

Iron Man vs. Lightsaber
Tough one... I suppose Iron Man is ever so slightly less obvious.
Would have been great without the backstory. Good thing the opposition is gross.

I ran my Pathfinder game today. When I pick up voting again later tomorrow, I'll be refreshed and ready for a new round of pain.
And yes, for whoever mentioned it, Skull & Shackles is terrific. Yarr!
Due to gamers real lives (those jerks) we traditionally do not game the month of December, so my only gaming interactions is during the voting season of RPGSS. I'm glad to hear Skull & Shackles is awesome, I was going to run it, but having never run before it was a little daunting. I tried something else instead. I nearly got keelhauled.
This item inexplicably grants the benefit of a feat chain without any spell to account for this particular magic.

Me either James, it's kind of scary knowing you're in open water. There's nothing better to compare yours to, but then again, there's nothing worse to compare yours to. We're only a week in and I'm dying to know what people thought of it.
I have seen a few items that should probably win, but has anyone seen an item they could actually see a character they were playing go out of their way to get? All the good entries are just totally uninteresting to me or they come with some useless baggage that jacks up the price beyond what I think it's worth. The only items I would want on my characters were stupid overpowered, so, I wouldn't want them in the game in general.
Finally! An item that can accommodate my 9 armed PC! I was starting to thing my needs were going to be neglected forever.
No weapons or armor, really. There's been a couple staffs that I'd probably want one of my characters to pick up though.

Either that, or I'm being particularly dense.

Wow, ok, so, I post about a lack of usable items and then, bam! I find a great item that, while not exciting, should be on every, even part time, martial's list. It's cheap enough that everyone without AoE access should carry one around the mid levels, but it's not overpowered for its price, just niche. If this doesn't make it in, I will riot, but I fear people not finding it exciting enough to win votes.

Skull & Shackles is very freeform and requires the GM to either do a lot of additional work behind the scenes or be absurdly good at improvisation.

Having seen my item... Seems I was drunk when I sent it. What is THAT sentence doing there? Oh well that's what you get for submitting it right off the bat.
Points for thinking outside the box, little item, but that spell doesn't do any of those things without GM fiat. Don't write such judgements into your item that aren't in the given uses for the spell it duplicates. If that spell could be used like that, it would say so.

First katana in a while. I honestly thought there would have been more of them, but I suppose people knew better than that. Though admittedly none of the ones I've seen have been horrible.

Please don't make references to things that are not cannon. I'm sure you're home game is great and all but as a voter with a google search function if I don't see what the heck you're talking about on the first page you made me vote for the other guy.
