I've just seen another item that seems like it would have disastrous effects if sundered. It won't stop me from upvoting it, but it makes my inner GM have Sith-y thoughts.

Of course, a few had multiple violations. And no, joke items aren't DQable...

And a partridge in a pear tree.

Incorrect templating is fully DQ'able? I assume that's beyond just "You didn't use any of the [b] tags despite the copy and pastable template having them" and straight to "you didn't even try to format at all"

And hey man, I fully believe that sometimes a joke item can actually be great, if the joke is good and the effect is interesting.

an item that is better for one class that actually makes sense. Well done.

Not using the template is not a DQable offense as far as I can tell.

Ugh and reading this thread I have yet to see anything that makes me go "I think they found mine!" It's one thing to have created a bad item that makes people groan, another to have made one that's somehow so middle of the road that nobody cares.

[e] I know mine's been seen at least, as it's showed up in that Google Document. It's just that I don't think anyone's either been impressed OR offended by it enough to comment.

Pretty sure I saw my item being viciously mocked by another poster yesterday, followed by others expressing agreement. Guess it wasn't their cup of tea.

Still waiting to see it pop up on the Google Doc, though. Hopefully it hasn't been DQ'd!

The template for the item is what makes it conform to PF, without it the item could be for any system.

I was referring to the fact many view such items as a DQ. I don't. One I know is a joke is actually on my list of will use in home game items, but not my Top 32 list.

Not using the template is not a DQable offense, but it does cut into your odds of moving on. If no attempt at a template was made whatsoever, that may qualify.

Mistakes in the template is not an issue at all.

Remember: nobody wants to be DeathQuakered! (She fights dirty!) ;)

...and for the DeathQuaker crack I just had to vote for an item I swore I would never vote up because the opposing item was just far too hokey!

Damn Karma! *shakes fist at universe*

Wow, that's two items that allow the transferring of racial or class features from one character to another :|

I dunno about you guys but I'm really not a fan of that sort of thing. To me it seems weirdly metagame-y, like... "hey fighter you're good at cutting things in half, if you put this funny hat on I can gain your good at cutting things in half skill!"

I meant items with no aura, CL, slot, price, weight, requirements, and cost.

I agree completely. No-attempt-whatsoever should be given the heave-ho.

Don't take it personal, I've had to eat 1 and 2 star reviews that were mostly nit picking an minutia. You learn form those, fix your errors and try to do better next time.

Don't lose heart

Item I've already downvoted vs. Another Item I've already downvoted. Who will lose?

I saw one comment that, if it was really my item, meant that every time they saw it they would downvote it no matter the other item.

That aside, unless you broke one of the contest rules, you shouldn't worry about it being DQ. If it doesn't get out of the bottom 25% it won't make the cull that's supposedly coming, but I've seen some really crap stuff, so I think even I have a chance of getting past that.

Another polearm, sweet!

So I was having a thought regarding mechanics. The damage of a bludgeoning weapon is due to the impact. The force of impact has a lot to do with weight. So when you make a bludgeoning weapon out of mithral (which halves the weight of the item) it would seem like you're acting against your own best interests, since your heavy mace now weighs less than a light mace...

Voted for a SAK. I feel dirty.

I friggin' swear, I am hereby downvoting every item that has "enervation" in the construction requirements when the item itself does not display anything related to enervation whatsoever. It's like they just said, "I feel like throwing enervation into this because necromancy!! Woo, Necromany!!"

Just sayin'

Weird. There's an item whose name is one of the ones I considered and rejected for my own item.

I'm starting to think that weapons are the hardest category since most of the ones I have seen are either "Wondrous Item Which Can Also Stab You I Guess" or "Ultimate Weapon of Defeating Everyone All the Time and Getting All the Points!"

A lot of jester-themed items this year. Some of them are pretty good, too.

I couldn't go that far. Especially if said item was paired up against something worse.

Speaking of those types of items, you should check out what I wrote up last night in the Joke Items thread.

been voting for two days straight almost, I am starting to recognize and remember 75% of the items I am seeing, guess its time to spend 45 seconds of my voting time eating chips or what not....

Okay, next thing to consistently get my downvote is:

"This +x stabby-thing looks plain and stupid. But when a Paladin picks it up, it becomes a +11 everything-bane Excalibur slaughter blade of death and weefness!!! Because Paladin!!"

Man, I think this item's effect is cool, but it's 100% clear that it used to be a wondrous item that became a ring at the last minute :\
