I bet you're hoping nobody's ever watched Dragonball...

Wow, that was the most beautifully described, perfectly formatted spell-in-a-can I've ever seen.

What...the...heck...did...I...just...read....
I don't care that the other item goofed a little on the construction requirements. At least it doesn't lead off with a painful onslaught of...just...argh...x.x
I am so so so so SOOOOOOO grateful for the "Nine Blazing Months" thread, and all those who helped me understand rules and template use and all the good stuff.
Item I really don't like vs. item with poorly described undefined powers... guess don't like gets the nod.
No formatting, back story, and explanation, and so under priced that everyone would take 10 VS just a weapon...

Now, a simple <150 word item vs. Wall of text and three lines of construction requirements..
Hmmm.....

Maybe you had the same bard item, but I stumbled upon a really cool one actually.
We need more bard items, I might make one next year.

This is example of erroneous thinking I am referring to: spell-like abilities in general are neither arcane nor divine I am worried that some good items using good rules-fu will be down voted because they bothered to keep up with the FAQ. Not trying to call you out Drejk, as you are just a current convenient example, and I have seen several people making similar mistakes on different topics.
Perhaps this falls to the "Know your audience, and their limitations" guideline however. Yeah, a couple years back I found out my item had been getting downvoted by people who were unfamiliar with the spell range categories ("close", "medium", "long") that appear in 90% of the spells in the game, and therefore thought that I was failing to specify the range at all. :/
Hopefully, this time all my terms will be sufficiently obvious. Not that I'm bitter or anything...
No, see, the game already has something with that name.
In the Core Rulebook.
(Well, not exactly that name, cos of your typo; but still.)
Gahh! Accidentally clicked on the thing I didn't like.
Luckily, neither item was terrible nor great.
Time to pack up so I don't get locked in the office all weekend.
Such fun!
I keep seeing comments that could easily apply to my item. It makes me both elated and nervous at the same time. And I'd REALLY LOVE to ask questions ... but I must sit on those until after judging!! :D
All the magus items! Arcane Strike makes it more groovier this or when weilded by a magus that.
James Raine wrote: Zahir ibn Mahmoud ibn Jothan wrote: James Raine wrote: Reading an entry: "But...you can already do that without the magic item? So basically you don't do anything?" No idea what item you are talking about, but in their defense, there are those who said that about aspects of my item in the Top 32 last year too. This is a little more blatant than that. Yeah, if it's the one I'm thinking of, all it does is 'allow' something almost literally everyone can do anyway...
And I've seen at least two really cool Bard items.

The good news is, I've finally spotted my item in the wild, so at least I know it still exists.
I don't care if I keep seeing this item and down-voting it over and over. The description makes me laugh every time!

This is example of erroneous thinking I am referring to: spell-like abilities in general are neither arcane nor divine. That isn't actually true. With the ruling that SLAs can serve as prereqs for Prestige Classes, there are now times you need to actually distinguish between Arcane and Divine SLAs.
EDIT: Ninja'd many times.
Yeah! Saw my item and was able to vote for it with a clear conscience!
That magic weapon would have been great as a rod...
It's funny how items with similar themes keep getting paired together.
I found my item. Noticed that I missed a clarification that I swear I put into the final draft.
Oh, I knew THIS was going to happen eventually:
Item I already upvoted vs. Item I already upvoted.
Still have not seen my item yet.
I am finding the pairings are more even than at the start of voting. Am I crazy or do they have an algo to pair items that have approximately the same up-votes?
I've seen like six chakrams. Half of which imply Desna.
Lots of typos and format errors. I can forgive item pricing to a certain extent, but not wall of backstory I don't care about.
I ain't afraid of no ghost..

anyone else collecting items like they were pokeman
An item that requires the player to use it vs an item with no formatting and no cost...
GM_Solspiral wrote: anyone else collecting items like they were pokeman I don't want to catch them all but I have a nice collection going.
Ooooh, overpriced but pretty fun! I totally went "lol pwnd!" in my head when I read it. I can totally picture a character using it. Yeah, I'd play that. :)
That has to be the quirkiest set of armor I've ever seen. I like it. Don't know if I like it enough to sit it in my Top 32, but it's pretty cool.
GM_Solspiral wrote: anyone else collecting items like they were pokeman I've puled out 5 to keep and use at home so far.
Does anyone ever Google search the proper names they are placing in their item? Or are they just naming stuff after their or a friends WoW character?
Anger Management item vs Anger Management item
So i've seen one item 5 times
A second item 4 times
I've voted on < 30 pairs of items
They really need to do some work on whatever algorithm shows items.

I just saw a truly incredible staff. Hard mode won. I spent several minutes looking for errors, pricing mistakes, etc. and it was wonderful. :D
Also, I can't believe that's your item. Derivative, seen it since the Romans, been done, what, gonna give someone a leadership feat. Yeah, how would you even do... ok... not what I was expecting. If the name wasn't so misleading it would be truly awesome.
It's based on what items have the most data, thus eventually it becomes an exercise in sorting the bottom (because no upvotes=no feedback) at which point they do a cull
"My GM banned Leadership but will never see this coming!" versus "Farmers can be heroes, too!"
shrug through my first 125 votes the most I saw a given item was 3 times (although there were 5 different items I saw 3 times)... after 238 votes the most I have seen any given item is 6 times (only one item so far). it actually seems better then last year as far as repeats go.
