I continue to believe this website randomly hides threads I’ve hidden.
Either that, or my sanity continues to decline.
My brother up near Dallas texted a picture of the snow outside his house. Just a light dusting, from what I could see.
Better him than me. I find that crap annoying.
Sometimes, I just feel the urge to tell The Universe to go pleasure itself.
Still crappy weather, but at least the rain seems to be coming to an end for a few days.
The wife will finally come home tomorrow. Thus will end my two week single parent nightmare.
And return to my normal nightmare.
Well, at least the sun is shining again.
Stoopid no cussin rule.
Still, it’s good practice for when I’m around children at the Scout meetings.
Damn, I hate going to the airport to pick up the wife. Her plane landed at 8:01 pm yesterday evening. We left as soon as she texted us. With the airport being 12 miles away, I figured that would be enough time for her to get through customs and get her checked bag.
We didn’t get back until almost 10:30 pm.
And the boy neglected to tell me he had homework this weekend. Instead he played around on his electronics.
So, for the rest of the day (and maybe tomorrow) he’s banded from any electronics that don’t deal with school.
A bit warmer this morning.
And the last two mornings, when I’ve taken the dog out at 5 am, I haven’t had to turn on the back porch light. The Hunter’s Moon has been shedding more than enough illumination.
It’s hard to believe, but in two weeks my boy will be 12. Damn, I’m getting old.
Of course, it doesn’t help when the young lady in the pharmacy asks me if the kids with me are my grandchildren.
That’s twice I’ve been mistaken for grandfather instead of father. The first time was when the boy was in kindergarten.
“Why does the sun come up? Hmm? Or are the stars just pin holes in the curtain of night, who knows?”
For the first time in a few years, I’m considering buying a new video game. I doubt it would run on my desktop here at home, so I’ll probably have to wait until it’s out for the PS4. Which might be awhile.
I’ve really got to stop asking The Universe what it plans to do to me next. It seems to take it as a challenge.
I'll say one thing.., sorry two things. I'm considering doing some more postings and second, it's always dry in Las Vegas.
I guess I should be more used to the creepy tentacle nature of Big Tech these days. It’s hard though.
Yesterday, I briefly watched a YouTube stream of some playing that new game Hogwarts Legacy. This morning an advertisement for the game popped up in my Facebook feed.
Similar stuff has happened before. Sometimes, I’ll be discussing a topic in the vicinity of my phone, and then I’ll get advertising related to the topic.
I saw a news article about an asteroid that MIGHT skim our atmosphere. Interestingly enough, today is proving one of those days when I hope it would do more than “skim”.
I finally got around to deleting my Disney+ account. And I told them exactly why in the feedback.
The boy spent the night at a friends house yesterday, so the girl and I did a mini Justice League Unlimited marathon. One thing I always disliked about those series was the way they did Hawgirl.
Oh joy! Yet another week long vacation for the teachers in our area. I can’t say I’m surprised at how little they work anymore.
Damnit! I need a day that’s both warm AND sunny. At the same time! The dog needs a bath!
Speaking of dogs, damn has it gotten more expensive to feed her. In the last two years, the price of her dog food has gone up by about $20-30.
Then again, the price of almost all our groceries has gone up over the last few years.
Same with utilities.
Oh joy! More rain. I think it’s only for today though.
Since the kids are off from school this week (so the teachers can have more paid vacation time), I took them with me to the comic book store. My baby girl bought a stuffy Gelatinous Cube. They also had a Mimic stuffy, but she really liked the cube.
There are days I seriously consider getting rid of my cellphone. Ten “scam likely” calls so far this week. Four of which were just today.
It seems that winter’s last feeble grasp is upon us here in the glorious state of Texas. Soon, its evil shall be driven back into the far north, where it belongs.
Then, of course, we get “hotter than the hinges on the gates of Hell”.
He he he he he…..
There were two cats on the back yard fence this morning, meowing loudly at each other. So the boy and I, giggling like little school kids, opened the back door and let the dog out……
On an even more positive note, today is the birthday of one of my fraternity brothers. He’s now in his late 50s. This is remarkable, considering he has cystic fibrosis.
He’s a good man.
I bent over to pick up a screwdriver, and threw my back out.
It sucks getting old.
The boy’s 12 year molars have been coming in, so this morning I had to pull another old tooth out. It was hanging by just enough to cause pain and bleeding. He’s been taking it very well, however. I’m proud of him.
Dumbass that I am, I didn’t think to put on sunscreen when the Sun came out yesterday. So now the back of my neck (and some other spots) are sunburned.
Ouch.
Damn! My boy is 12 years old today. I’ve been a dad for 12 years. It seems a lot longer.
Speaking of “seems a lot longer”, this coming June will be 18 years since I first post on these boards. I was still in my 30s!
I bought the boy Metroid Dread for his Switch as a birthday present. So far, I think he likes it.
At the same time, I bought myself a game for the Switch - Knights of the Old Republic 2. I loved that game on my old Xbox, but it doesn’t work anymore.
To reiterate - Getting old sucks.
The boy had a busy day yesterday. He spent over four hours in the morning helping his Scouts BSA Troop deliver and spread mulch to people who had bought it during our fundraiser. Then he came home, cleaned himself up, and we went back to the church to watch his cousin and a bunch of other Cub Scouts cross over into Scouts BSA.
The boy’s own troop got 6 new scouts. My nephew’s troop got 12 or 13 new scouts. My younger niece crossed over and joined her sister in the girl troop. My brother started that troop about 2 years ago, and it’s already got 12 scouts. He numbered it 1920, which has historical significance.
The boy’s also going to have a busy morning today. First he’s going to help me do some much needed front yard maintenance. Then he’s going to do the heavy lifting giving the dog a much needed bath.
I heard my daughter coming down the stairs this morning, and told her “I knew you were coming, but didn’t bake a cake.”
She didn’t get it. Then I tried to explain it, and she still didn’t get it.
I’m pretty sure she should have been born a blond.
Some of the smartest and bravest women I know have blonde hair so maybe keep that outdated sexist crap to yourself. Especially when you're talking about your own offspring.
