I’m thankful the boy is at an age where he can take the load off me for some stuff. He was a big help in getting those chores done today.

Now it’s just a waiting game for the dog to finish air drying. Thankfully, the weather finally decided to cooperate. Sunshine, a steady breeze, and temp in the 70s.

Scarab Sages

He’s gotten pretty good at helping me do mostly outside and heavy physical labor work.

The girl typically helps her mom clean up stuff on the inside. She’s gotten really good at sweeping up the dog hair when it’s shedding time. It helps the wife has a special broom thing, just for that.

The girl also is getting into cooking a bit more. I told her next time I do some gumbo, she can help.

Scarab Sages

I wish I could take the dog to a groomer, but I’d be worried she’s too aggressive. Ever since the whole mask thing awhile back, she’s been leery of anyone but us.

And my brother and his family. Possibly because they used to come over a lot when she was a puppy.

Scarab Sages

Now I can spend the rest of the day trying to relax. Maybe do some more laundry. Dishwasher stuff. All that jazz.

Scarab Sages

Maybe I’ll even make a map.

Scarab Sages

Or do some reading.

Scarab Sages

Or keep posting out of sheer boredom.

The boy’s only got one more requirement to take care of to get his Tenderfoot rank in Scouts. I was hoping he’d be closer to Second Class by now, but I let other things get in the way of me holding his feet to the fire a bit more. Still, I think he might be able to get all the way to First Class by next Fall’s Court of Honor.

Scarab Sages

My girl never wanted to do Scouting. She’s not the outdoors type. Possibly a good thing, since I’m not in much shape anymore to take her camping.

Scarab Sages

My nieces, on the other hand, are both in Scouting. The oldest, I think, will most likely get Eagle Scout. She’s got the determination for it.

Scarab Sages

Of course, she’s my Godchild, so……

Scarab Sages

Not that I made Eagle. By that time, I had other interests (and a job to help pay for them) consuming my time.

Scarab Sages

It’s one of my few regrets.

Scarab Sages

Ow! My back.

Scarab Sages

I tweaked it a week ago, bending over to pick up a dropped screw driver. Now it’s back to haunt me.

Scarab Sages

Dog’s finally dry. I can go get my shower.

Scarab Sages

Whilst the hot water was doing its work on my poor back, I had a thought.

I’m looking forward to when my boy is old enough that I can start showing him some of my favorite movies. He might already be old enough for Big Trouble in Little China. He’s not read for John Carpenter’s The Thing, or Terminator, or Conan the Barbarian (the original 80s one) yet.

And he’s definitely not ready for Mel Brooks yet. Though I’m sure he one day will be. I want him to grow up with a good sense humor.

Scarab Sages

Again, I say “Ow! My back!”

A visit with the jacuzzi tub might be in order later today. With some epsom salts. I always thought it was a chick thing, but that stuff does wonders.

Scarab Sages

I just wish that damnable tub was a little bit longer.

Scarab Sages

I’ve got a job interview this coming Tuesday. Hopefully, it will go well. I’d like to get back to full time work. Part time is cool, but I need more.

Scarab Sages

Plus, full time would help me to better afford a new vehicle.

Yesterday was again stuff happening that would have been easier if we had two vehicles again.

Scarab Sages

I’ve been thinking about a pickup truck to replace my old (and now destroyed) Trailblazer. I’ve got to start doing some research as far as reliability and price.

Scarab Sages

I’ve heard good things about Toyota trucks, but also that they’re very expensive.

Scarab Sages

I had considered maybe a Ford Ranger. I like the smaller trucks, and the old, back-in-the-day Rangers were awesome. Not sure I trust Ford though.

Scarab Sages

And I’ve refused to ever again by Chevy after 2008.

Scarab Sages

I saw estimates that the new Marvel film product is going to have somewhere around a 70% drop off in its second weekend. That’s a new record, I believe.

My brother tells me he saw a rumor that Eiger is heavily considering giving Feige the boot. I’d be tempted to say that’s a good thing, but then they’d probably replace him with someone even worse.

Scarab Sages

Not that it matters much to me anymore, I suppose. Since the crapfest that was Multiverse of Madness, I’ve watched two Marvel products: Werewolf by Night and the GotG Holiday Special. I even got rid of my Disney+ subscription, seeing as watching those specials were the only times I think I’ve used the service since last October.

Scarab Sages

The only thing I haven’t been able to do (yet) is completely give up on Marvel Comics. Or DC. I’m closer these days. Much closer than any time in the last 35+ years. Still, there are a few things they do that are worthy of my money.

Scarab Sages

I’ve been delving into other producers though. More Darkhorse. I picked up the first book in the Rippaverse. And I’m considering picking up stuff from the (Graham) Nolanverse as well.

Scarab Sages

Old habits are hard to break. They can evolve, however. Which is much easier.

Scarab Sages

My posting here, for example. I largely keep to myself, since most of the cool kids have gone.

Scarab Sages

Several of them are followers of my Facebook Mapping Page (Aberzombie’s Map Folio).

Scarab Sages

Amazingly, I think this summer will be 3 years since I started that page.

Scarab Sages

The washing machine is playing my song. Time to go put stuff in the dryer. And maybe get a second load in.

Scarab Sages

Mmmmm…..lunchtime.

Scarab Sages

Only 15…..oops….14 more posts to fill up an entire page in one day. I think I used to do that more often.

Scarab Sages

I keep telling the wife to get the girl’s Kindle fixed. Headphones won’t work with it, and so I have to listen to the inane Kid’s YouTube videos she watches. Damn, that music sucks.

Scarab Sages

Holy carp! That Hogwarts Legacy game made something like $850 million in just two weeks. And I think that was just on 2 consoles and PC.

Scarab Sages

I’ve got to wait until April to get it. I think that’s when it’s supposed to come out for the PS4.

Scarab Sages

Still, all that success has got to make Warner Discovery at least a little happy.

Scarab Sages

I think they’re still pretty deep in the whole, though. And I doubt any of their forthcoming movies will help.

Scarab Sages

From what I’ve heard, the new Aquaman movie sucks big time.

Scarab Sages

Who knows? Maybe if Jason Momoa says goodbye to DC, he can go back to Conan. He might be old enough to do a King Conan movie. Maybe an adaptation of Phoenix on the Sword. Or Hour of the Dragon.

Scarab Sages

Lord knows Arnold is just too damned old now.

Scarab Sages

The Momoa Conan movie wasn’t completely horrid. Just mostly. I always chalk it up to idiot Hollywood writers who think they can tell a better story than REH.

Scarab Sages

Here’s a hint - they can’t.

Scarab Sages

This is what happens when I have too much time on my hands, and not enough other things to catch my interest.

Scarab Sages

Of course, there are also days when I have to try and avoid doing certain things. Just for my own well being.

Scarab Sages

I’m almost tempted to put a movie on in the background. Maybe LotR (extended edition only). Probably not until after the small humans are done with lunch, though.

That way they can go upstairs if the sound interferes with whatever they’re watching on their tablets.

Scarab Sages

Better that than listen to them whine. I get enough of that every other day.
