Holy carp. That’s a lot of posting.
And a lot of time killed.
Which is really what 95% of my typical day is all about.
What a wacky dinner conversation I had with the kids. We started off discussing vampires. Then we moved on to Greek and Roman deities. Threw in a bit of voodoo. And finished off talking about puppies and the times my family’s Labrador had litters.
And now I’m debating going back to KotOR II. I had recently discovered it was available on the Switch, and got it. Been playing for a few days.
It never fails. Every morning some jackass goes flying along the road to school. Sometimes completely ignoring the school zone speed limit. That’s why I cheer so loudly whenever I see a police officer pulling someone over.
And, to my complete lack of surprise, it’s going on a year now the county utility station near the school has been under construction. They’ve been adding a lot of stuff on the other side of the fence.
Going to wake my daughter up this morning. I had trouble opening the door to her room. She had one of her old baby doll strollers behind the door, with her Pokémon stuffy sitting in it. I asked why, and she said he was in timeout.
Damn, that kid is weird.
She got a lot compliments from her art teachers about her self-portrait, though.
Going back to school drop off - I can at least be thankful some of the idiot parents (who seem to think it horrid their child might have to wait outside the doors for 5 whole minutes, even in good weather) have at least developed the common courtesy of keeping as much to the side as possible. That way the parents who let their kids out a bit early can get by them.
Still, they’re not as bad as this one moron in the afternoon, who will pull into the car rider line, but leave a gap between herself and the next car for no reason whatsoever.
Or the other moron who will pull into line one, but about two feet from the curb, so that her car partially blocks the path for the line two kids.
The Half-Price books I used to go to closed down, so I don’t have a conveniently located place to go look for old books to buy, or bring old books to sell.
Still, the bonus to that is my comic book store (which had been right next door) also moved. And that area had been getting a little sketchy over the last few years.
And at least I have Abe Books to get used books from. That website has some pretty good deals.
There are days when I’m convinced whomever is in charge of The Universe is kind of an a-hole.
And not the lovable kind.
Well, that was quick. Interviewed with a company for a mechanical engineer position yesterday. Just heard back from them they’re going to send me an offer letter.
They must be desperate.
I’m not going to complain, though. The pay is really good. I’ll finally be back to making 100K+ a year.
And the commute is only about 20 minutes. For this area, that’s like gold.
Of course, my baby girl won’t be too happy about it. She’ll probably have to start riding the bus.
And that means it’s time to get a new vehicle. Right now we’ve been okay with just the one. If I’m going to an office every day, I can’t leave the wife stuck home with no transportation.
I told my baby girl she’ll most likely be riding the bus once I start my new job. So, of course, she had a bit of a freak out. She’s worried she won’t know what to do, or where to go.
I reassured her it would be easy. Knowing her, though, I wouldn’t be surprised if she does get confused once or twice.
The only sucktastic part of the new job is waiting 90 days before I can use any time off. I’ll probably have to adjust or cancel some of my already scheduled doctor appointments.
AAAARRRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!
I’ve still got a month to wait before The Video Game Which Must Not Be Named (around here, anyway) comes out for the PS4.
Luckily, I’ve got enough to (hopefully) keep me busy until then.
And it seems winter’s last (very) feeble gasp is upon us here in Texas. When I went to bed last night, it was 74 degF. When I got up this morning, a scant 6.5 hours later, it had dropped to 54 degF.
Brrrrrr……
And, of course, by this afternoon, it’ll be sunshine and in the 70s.
Might be going new vehicle shopping tomorrow. I’ll need one by the 13th of March.
Hmmm….I wonder if I can talk the wife into lunch at Wacky Mongolian. We haven’t been since mid-January, at least.
I busted the boy for playing on his Switch after bedtime last night. He must have forgotten the app on my phone lets me see when and how long he’s played.
At least he didn’t try to deny it.
For the first time last night, we decided to let the dog have the run of downstairs overnight. Typically, we’d lock her in her kennel to sleep, but I’ve grown to not like doing that. Plus, it kind of defeats the purpose of having a big dog.
She lay on the floor of our room for a little while. She also stuck a cold nose in her mommy’s face at least once. Other than that, she seems to have behaved herself and kept to her (open) kennel.
I hadn’t intended to run the heat again, but when I got up a few hours ago it was in the 40s outside. So I kicked it on to take the chill off the house.
It took a while, but I got a new truck yesterday. A 2023 Honda Ridgeline. It’s pretty sweet.
I’m hoping this vehicle lasts as long as my previous one (16 years). Maybe longer. Considering my wife’s Honda is about 15 years old. I’d say I’ve got a good chance.
Took the kids for ice cream last night. At first, we went to this homemade ice cream place named Handel’s, but the line was super long and there was only one person working. So we then went down the road to Dairy Queen. We got our DQ ice cream, headed home, and the people we had been waiting behind at Handel’s were still waiting.
We felt sorry for the Handel’s employee.
Apparently my daughter was unaware that cars have glove boxes.
Stupid insurance company. I was supposed to have a CT Scan (on recommendation from my GI specialist) done today, but it was still “under review”. Now I probably won’t be able to have it done for another 3 months.
Ugh!
I had too much sauce on my spaghetti last night. So today my stomach is bothering me.
That’s one of the things that really sucks about getting older. Having to more careful about what you eat. I come from the state with the best cuisine in all of the US (Louisiana). To have to cut back on certain foods really blows goats.
Big, hairy ones.
It’s funny, sometimes, to read people defending changes from comic book to movie. I’ll peruse the comments on articles, just to see how many of the commenters defending the changes don’t actually know the comic lore.
The most recent is the casting for the High Evolutionary in GotG 3. I laughed to see a bunch of comments claiming the High Evolutionary was a purple alien. Sorry, but no. He was a British dude who eventually wore purple (or pink, it sometimes seemed) armor.
I guess that’s just another way to differentiate true comic book fans from super hero movie fans.
My brother has graciously given me my first ever “because you have a truck” request for aid. So, this morning I’ll help him pick up and deliver some plants for my nephew’s Eagle Scout Project.
Aaaarrrrrgggghhhh!!!!
Dumbass that I am, got distracted this morning at 6:00 am and accidentally took a second dose of my thyroid medicine. So now I run this risk of symptoms of Hyperthyroidism. Luckily, I realized it I drink some coffee now, before an hour passes since I took the second dose, I can hopefully minimize the absorption.
Settling in at the new job, slowly but surely. They took me out to lunch yesterday.
And, apparently, today is timesheet day. Weird to do it so early.
At some point, I should probably ask someone what the WiFi password is.
The one sucktastic thing about working full-time again…..
……is having to juggle doctor appointments.
Okay, maybe there’s more than one sucktastic thing. So far, though, that’s the sucktastic-est.
My new employer allows people to work from home every Wednesday. So, naturally, I came into the office anyway. Only problem is the dude I report to seems to do the “work from home” thing.
And it seems the printer charges for each page being printed. That sucks balls.
Big, hairy ones.
Not that I was going to go crazy and print a bunch of personal stuff. It’s just that I feel a little guilty every time I print a page for work stuff.
I suppose it will only be a problem if they ever say anything to me about it.
