Holy carp!
Got to work a little after 7:00 am, set to work on a bunch of stuff. Next thing I know….it’s lunchtime.
Not that I have much of a lunch. Toast, apple sauce, and saltine crackers.
Stoopid GI problems.
Later today will be my nephew's Eagle Court of Honor. A great achievement. We're all very proud of him.
Yesterday started off decent, went fairly well most of the day, then ended on a crappy note. Which is kind of the reverse of what’s become normal.
It’s sucks, but it’s what I’ve come to expect. A completely good day is an impossibility.
A mostly quiet and uneventful Sunday, followed by what I hope to be an equally quiet and uneventful Monday. At least the trash folk actually came. That surprised me.
I have a feeling today will suck balls more than usual. There have been several omens.
Well, I read the omens correctly. Yesterday did indeed suck balls. Yet some of my coworkers refused to believe me when I played the role of oracle.
Probably because I wasn’t in a cave in Delphi.
Yesterday was a VERY long day. 14+ hours of work, and not much sleep.
Thank the gods it’s Friday!
I think Frigidaire has got to be one of the crappiest appliance brands I’ve ever come across. I look forward to eventually replacing all the ones my house came with.
I haven’t been happy with my current GI specialist, so considered going with the other practice recommended by my primary’s office. Until, at least, I found out their wait time for an appointment is 3 months.
Damn, the healthcare industry is really going down the tubes.
I called one of my old Philly co-workers this morning, and actually managed to catch him in the office. Spent nearly an hour on the phone with him. That was nice.
Between that, feeling slightly adequate this morning, and none of the managers being in yet, this week is starting off well.
So now I just have to wait for the other shoe store to drop.
Some people are just sad little pieces of crap. No matter how much better they think they are.
Nearly done with season 2 of Next Generation. Back when Star Trek was awesome.
Tonight I participate in my first Eagle Board of Review. I’m very excited to help this young man in such a great achievement.
I always encourage parents of young children to get into Scouts BSA these days. It’s a great program, offering the opportunity to learn lots of skills they just don’t teach in school.
I’m glad to say the young man we held the Eagle Board of Review for has succeeded and earned his Eagle Rank. He’s a good young man, and I felt honored and privileged to have helped him (however briefly) on that road.
Grrrrr….Stoopid IT. My computer wouldn’t connect from home, so I had to come into the office.
On the plus side, however, a co-worker asked me a question via Teams, and I answered it.
Then I sent him “Quid Pro Quo, Clarice.” With my own question.
I dislike my supervisor being out of town. I’ve got to do his work, as well as my own.
I wish my supervisor and the other managers of my group would learn how to use a schedule. This constant having to guess when things are due, or being surprised by a suddenly announced due date, is really bugging the rest of us.
For that matter, it’d also be nice if we were always told when comments come back on a package.
Almost couldn’t get in my driveway because of tree trimmers working next door. I did, though, and as a bonus I got to watch them feed some branches into the big chopper. That’s always cool.
Double standards can be…..interesting.
Hypocrisy - it’s what’s for dinner.
Client sent two comment packages on project drawings about 20 minutes apart. Most of the comments in the two packages are the same, but not all.
And they were sent by the same person.
Otherwise, happy Friday?
That remains to be seen.
I was sad to hear that Allen Dawson, who used to post around here, has passed away. Apparently, it was injuries from being hit by a car.
Yep….definitely a double standard. Can’t say I’m surprised.
I’ve come to the realization things like Kickstarter and Indiegogo have allowed more of society to take on aspects of the craft brewing industry. You’ve got small scale producers making product and getting it to market by relying almost directly on the actual paying customer.
It’s pretty much a “duh” realization, but an analogy I hadn’t thought of until now. Mostly because until recently I’ve barely had any interaction with things like Kickstarter and Indiegogo.
Tired zombie is tired.
Even a little bit of yard work (or a any strenuous activity) is hard to recover from when (a) you’ve allowed yourself to become too physically inactive, and (b) you’ve not been in the best of health for the past few months.
Also….
F$&! You getting older, insurance companies, and our increasingly crappy healthcare system.
And f$&! you, Mr. Fly. If and when I find you, I promise a swift and squishy end!!!
Damn, it’s hot! I’m glad I got the yard work done earlier.
The wife is currently in her way to Lafayette with the girl. She’s going to meet her parents there, and they’ll take the girl back with them for a week. This way, she gets to spend time with them, and with my own mother.
Next weekend, the wife and the boy will both drive in, spend the weekend, then return with the girl.
The boy wanted to go with them today, but he’s got a make-up swim test at 3:00 this afternoon. The wife won’t be back by then.
My neighbor had his oak trees trimmed, and now I’m considering getting the name of the guys he used. I could do it myself, and normally I do. However, I’ve got three trees that need trimming, and another that needs removing.
My goofball wife made sure to ask me for the phone charger plug for her road-trip today.
And then she forgot the actual cord.
Truthfully, I blame the girl. From the moment she woke, she was so excited about visiting her grandparents, she could hardly shut up about it. We had to tell her to relax more than once over the course of an hour or two.
Saw in the news about the section of I-95 that collapsed in my old stomping grounds of Philadelphia. Crazy. I don’t think anyone was hurt, though. So thank the gods for that.
We’ve got some NOOB engineers starting today - an electrical and a process. I’m hoping to let inform them of stuff I mostly had to figure out on my own.
I have a list….
‘Twas a very long day.
It probably wouldn’t have seemed so long if I weren’t in so much pain and discomfort.
Another super busy day. My supervisor has been out of the country since the last week of May, visiting family in India. So even though he’s in regular contact with us, I’m still doing a lot of stuff that might normally fall to him.
Thank the gods it’s Work-from-home-Wednesday.
I had started the boy on a schedule to complete one of his rank advancements. Probably one of the more difficult ones to get for Second Class. He had to come up with a plan for being physically active for 30 minutes a day, five days a week, for four weeks.
Started off ok, but now the plan has gone completely t@+% up.
I should have known better than to try and get his mother involved in making sure he exercised while I was at work each day. Now I’ll have to take care of it myself. As per usual.
The dog pooped in the house this morning. Twice.
The really annoying part is she did it after I had taken her out to potty.
TGIF?
Maybe. To be honest, it’s become like every other day. Just a wait and see.
I’m a little peeved at the Scoutmaster for my son’s troop. He waited until this past Sunday, after my boy had once again failed to even attempt his BSA Swim Test, to inform me he was planning a troop canoe trip for Summer Camp, and that if the boy didn’t pass even the beginner swim test then he’d have to be left behind with two adults. Which, of course, would created a lovely opportunity for some scouts to make fun of my son.
So I told the boy if he didn’t pass the swim test, I wouldn’t allow him to go to summer camp, and if that happened he wouldn’t be allowed electronics for the rest of the summer. I’d probably also yank him completely from scouting. If he can’t get motivated enough to even try a swim test, then he’ll never be committed enough to obtain Eagle.
