First there was news the company has hired a lead mechanical engineer. Since there isn't enough work for two of us at the moment, such a move has me worried. So I'll have to make sure I have a backup plan in place.
Then my wife had absolutely zero real plans for dinner. So I had to scramble and find myself something. Luckily, I already kind of had a backup plan for that. Experience is a wonderful teacher.
Finally, I slept very poorly. Partly due to some new mystery pain. Partly due to my usual whatever the hell causes me to wake up in the middle of the night and have trouble getting back to sleep.
All of which means today is going to suck balls. I'll be here in the office most of the day. Then I get to go home and try to figure out what I'll have for dinner. Then later tonight I have to travel to the airport and pick up my boy.
He, at least, was one bright spot on yesterday. He sent his mom pictures of himself and a classmate participating in the wreath ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
At least I had a pretty good drive in this morning. Could have been worse. I saw a road sign saying there was a major accident at a nearby road. Either it was an old warning, and the thing was already cleared, or it had just happened, and the traffic hadn't built up yet. Either way, I dodged a proverbial bullet.
Maybe. It's really a wait and see thing. I had a somewhat decent drive in, despite a few jackasses. It was raining, though. And that made the roads a little more....interesting.
And I had a long day yesterday. I was already tired from a poor night's sleep, then worked all day in the office. Then went home but had to go off again almost right away to get myself some dinner. And late last night I had to go pick the boy up from the airport. That was far less problematic than I thought it might be, which was good. I still didn't get home until after 11 pm, so that was bad.
And the wife announced her intentions to drive to Louisiana today with the kids, so they could see their grandparents (and some other relatives). So, I'll leave work around 11 am to work from home the rest of the day. That way the dog doesn't have to spend hours in her kennel.
Which also means I'll have to work from home tomorrow as well. That does not bother me in the least.
Anyway, the boy is back from his trip. He had a blast. Saw lots of cool stuff. And, as I'm sure I mentioned, he got to participate in the wreath ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We have a few pictures from that, but his teacher got video of it, which she's going to share.
So then until at least Sunday I'll be a bachelor again.
And since I don't have much on TV to watch, I should be able to get some reading done. Especially with the enhanced peace and quiet.
I did order some new movies. It's a 4K set of The Naked Gun, Top Secret, and Airplane. They call it the ZAZ Collection. That won't arrive until sometime after the 26th of March, though.
Well, I didn't have to drive to the office for work. And I've actually got stuff to do. And I got a pretty decent night's sleep.
On the other hand, my stomach has been bothering me. So...mixed bag I suppose.
Thing is, I shouldn't have much work to do. The one big project I'm currently still on was supposed to have an issuance for civil/structural and I&E today. It would be IFA. Then the client asked the PM to re-issue the IFA Mechanical package with some of the comments they had incorporated.
Of course, I'm pretty sure some of those comments were the question type. And never got answered by the client....
Anyway, since I finished Person of Interest on Monday, I wasn't sure what to watch last night. I went looking for something new, but nothing jumped out at me.
Finally settled on a rewatch of Daredevil Season 1. Just to remember what Marvel TV could be like without much Disney involvement.
Such a good show. And you kind of get to see some boobies. However briefly.
Now I've got to finish up here (for now?) so I can feed the dog, then get to work.
