It isn't clear to me whether the spells and magic items are diety specific in PFS or not. I believe they are NOT but thought that I'd check.
Spells says the following. Seems a little contradictory to me.
"ones specific to individual deities" ...
"Despite this, all the spells in this chapter are available to members of other faiths, though some temples or religious organizations may proscribe the use of specific spells."
Magic items don't say anything. I assume this means that all of them can be used by anybody, especially since several of them explicitly say how they have special powers when worn by characters worshipping the specified dirty.

Any spell or magic item is available to any character that meets the prerequisites. Some spells, feats, etc... indicate you have to be a follower of a specific deity to qualify for choosing it. Other spells and items give extra benefits for characters that worship the specified deity, but aren't restricted by a prerequisite to follow that deity to choose the spell/feat/item/whatever.

Thanks for answering, but I'm afraid it still isn't clear to me for spells (its way past my bedtime so I'm likely missing something obvious :-( ). Lets take an example. Aspect of the Nightingale. Does the fact that it has (Shelyn) in its description mean it is restricted or not?

If you look at the feats, most of he, have a prerequisite of "worshiper of ......". To choose a specific feat, you must meet the requirement that you are a follower of hat deity.
If you look at traits, it advises, "The following traits religion traits can be taken only by worshipers of the specified deity." You must be a follower of the specified deity to choose whatever trait.
If you look at the beginning of the spell chapter, it advises, "Many of the spells in this chapter originated with the faithful of a particular deity and are more common among the worshipers of that god. Such spells are denoted with the god's name in parentheses after the spell's name. Worshipers of a spell's associated deity always treat the spell as common, and need not research it in order to prepare or learn it. Despite this, all the spells in this chapter are available to members of other faiths, though some temples or religious organizations may proscribe the use of specific spells. "
So, all spells are available to all characters as long as any prerequisites are met.

I'm sad to hear that, as the earlier version of the feat from Faiths of Purity was going to be central to a character I've been leveling.
Thankfully, he hadn't picked it up yet, so I can try to find something else... :(

Hmm, does this clarification to say, Defending Bone, apply if I only have Gods & Magic, but not Inner Sea Gods, or do I need to own Inner Sea Gods as well?
Gods&Magic was alway super vague about exactly what restrictions were on (Diety) spells.
Defending Bone is a spell. It is covered up thread 4 or 5 posts earlier. As long as you own either book, it is available to your character.

Since Mike's dropping in on this thread...
What should we do if we see a PC that has Butterfly's Sting (for example) and was using it before Inner Sea Gods came along?
Butterfly's Sting, while listed under a "Desna" section in Faiths of Purity, had this section above it:
The feats detailed below are not necessarily unique to the followers of these gods, but appear far more commonly among the congregations of these gods.
I'd have allowed a follower of Shelyn to use this feat before ISG came along (and it looks like it was OK by the rules).
Would these characters be allowed to select a new feat now, or would they need to use Ultimate Campaign to retrain it? Or, is it possible that in this case Butterfly's Sting is special since it has this section in a prior resource?

This is already covered in the Guide:
If a feat or trait changes or is removed from the Additional Resources list: You have two options. First, you may either switch the old feat for an updated feat of the same name in another legal source (if available), ignoring any prerequisites of the new feat you do not meet. Alternatively, you may replace the feat entirely with another feat for which you meet all the prerequisites.
It looks like you can either keep it, regardless of your deity, or swap it for another feat you qualify for.

Alright, I need some help here. I just picked up ISG yesterday, and I read through parts of it. I'm pretty excited by it.
BUT...
My main character in PFS is a cleric of Arshea (Empyreal Lord.) How does my character become an Evangelist, Exalted, or Seeker? Those PrCs are available to my character, but because Arshea is not one of the Big 20, obediences aren't defined for her, nor are the boons. So, what, I could take one of the PrCs provided I meet the pre-reqs and then don't get the boons because they aren't defined?
In the section about other deities, it says that GMs and players should work together to come up with appropriate obdiences and boons, but there's no way that's going to fly in PFS (nor should it.)
Am I just missing something, because if I have read this right, this book offers this character pretty much nothing.

For some reason, I cannot edit or delete my posting above, but it appears the info I am looking for is in Chronicle of the Righteous. So, pardon my idiocy while I go sit in the corner and read some more.

Until there is an official ruling saying that you can be an Evangelist of a deity that has an obedience in a different book you cannot use deific obedience for Arshea.

Exactly. The feat you get for Empyreal Lords is "Celestial Obedience" not "Deific Obedience".
If you worship an Empyreal Lord, you can't be an Evangelist, Exalted. or Seeker...but you can be a Mystery Cultist (which is a Prestige Class in Chronicles of the Righteous that is especially for Empyreal Lord worshippers).

You could always switch deities if you want, perhaps you underwent a revelation and realized that your soul yearns to another celestial being.
Yeah, I think that's what I am going to do. Alas, there are no rules about changing deities, so I am trying to find those.
I have read old posts where some think a cleric switching deities would need an atonement, but I don't see it - that character wouldn't be trying to atone with the old deity, they'd be choosing a new deity.
Since there are no rules of which I am aware (either in the core rulebook or the guide to organized play), I presume I can just change (Desna gives the same domains as Arshea, the deity my character currently follows), so I wouldn't need to retrain the domains.
