Recruitment for Killsmash Rise of the Runlords Play-By-Post

Recruitment

Hello all:

I am completely new to PBP. I am completely new to GMing. I'm starting a weekly campaign running this same AP and I want to do a slower-paced one here, too.

If I'm wrong, correct me, but I imagine PBP to be the kind of thing where we check it a few times a day and post, sometimes in bursts, sometimes less frequently, with the rare day away, but the story trickles compared to sit-down where it flows. On the outset there will not be time constraints on when we post. This could stretch out game play pretty significantly. I will ask each player to be available to post at least 3 posts a day 5 days a week but that's more of a guideline. In reality there will be days where, due to combat or roleplay, you may not post at all.

I'm looking for four players who have never played the Rise of the Runelords AP and who enjoy the RP aspect as much as the stats.

Many (not all) skill checks will be rolled privately by me, whereas you'll be rolling combat dice.

I would like a party native to the region. There is a players guide available for free to consult so you can determine how your character likely fits into the culture of the setting.

Guide: http://paizo.com/products/btpy8bd9?Pathfinder-Ris

Required: Good/neutral alignment. Motivations throughout the campaign to do good are provided by the AP and reinforced by me but as a new GM I may need your help as a player to help your character find motivation to not be a DB.

Lastly: This is my first post. I will be changing my username as soon as I have ten posts.

Hey Buck, very interested in trying out the RotRL AP! Though the three posts per day might be a bit on the high side for most folks to achieve (I could be wrong though). The standard we usually see on this site is once per day expected and more if available. If the post requirements are a little more flexible I would definitely be interested in creation guidelines for characters. If the 3/day is hard line then I'll have to withdraw... Unfortunately I won't be able to stick to that.

Also, yes, typically PbP is much slower than tabletop.

Lastly, welcome to Paizo!

What Faelyn said for the most part, some of us can do more some cant. I would interested as well. probably something arcane.

Hey guys,

I do not expect 3 posts per person per day or anything close to it. I would like people to keep up with the campaign and on days where it comes to them to act, be ready to help the story progress.

My worries:
- A player whose availability to post ends an hour before mine begins.

-A player who has the spotlight (an ongoing conversation, maybe) and takes 28 hours between posts, then skipping every other day during small talk. I wouldn't even require a "check-in time" to wrap things up quicker, I just want people conscientious of the spot light.

To that end: What are your availabilities? I am using EST (GMT-5) and free basically all day and evening (not ALL day and evening, but frequently enough to reply within a few hours most days)

More about the campaign: The AP encourages a fair amount of time spent getting to know NPCs and the environment. The party isn't glued to each other every moment and to that end I would appreciate input: Would people prefer allow others to have the spotlight and garner relationships in a single thread, reducing individual posting, or would you prefer breaking up occasionally for your own tales now and then. When it comes time to go together, I would provide that circumstance as seamlessly as I could. I see this as being easy enough and preferable.

----------------------------------------------

TheNine: I see you're an adventure path subscriber. Are you unfamiliar with the AP? I'm looking for people new to it.

As for arcane: I believe we already have a witch. You are still able to go arcane, but it's just a heads up.

Okay that makes more sense, Buck! That's for clarifying that up.

I've got a halfling oracle with the Ancestor mystery that I think might fit in quite well. I've also got a fighter (two-handed archetype) ready to go if that fits better. Looking forward to hearing more about this.

Oh i have the adventure paths starting with the skulls and shackles cause of Yar pitates. I made a charector for a rise of the runelords game that never got off the ground due to a couple decideding to not be a couple anymore... it happens.
I could do something else, I havent played an arcane caster in forever so i doubt i would do on justice. How martial are things? I mean if Faelyn has plans on two handed things maybe i could work up something more defensive *shrugs* well see about rolling something up.

Oh and im in the central time zone, the only thing is i work midnights... as such im awake from about 7pm to around 10 am, though that varies a bit, Some days im up by 3. Sleep is something i only occasionally do >.>

I'm interested..

Hi there, I'm definitely interested :) Never played the classic rotrl ap so sounds great. Can post multiple times a day.

Have an idea for a metal oracle but pretty flexible on what i play. My chars tend to be neutral good, so no worries on the helping others front either ;)

also, just a thought, but are you going 'first come, first serve' or are you entertaining applications you'll then choose from?

What are the character build points?
Things like: 15/20/25/34/46 pointbuy? Psionics ok? Flaws for extra traits allowed? Non-core races? Epic narrative backstory needed?
Ya know, that sorta thing.

Interest pending info.

edit: Now perusing the player guide I come across "Feats of Verisia". Which states you can choose any as a bonus feat at character creation. Subject to GM approval.
So, do you approve of this?

The party will consist of 4 players recruited here, and a witch.
May we have some information on this witch? There are many ways to build one and the more we know about the 1 constant the better we can build to accommodate. Something one tends to not be able to do until the whole group is selected. So I would appreciate being able to make use of this opportunity.

Entertaining applicants. I actually only have one slot.

Ok...in that case could we get information on all the other party members to avoid redundancy?

Note that you can change your name UNTILL you have 10 posts It's to give you some leeway on aliases as they form. Not a forum permission thing that unlocks at X posts. Far as I can tell.

That definitely would have been a good thing to know from the outset. Agreed, if we could get more information on the current party member classes so the applicants can get an idea on what spots need filled.

I'm interested. New to this AP. I could post at least once a day, likely much more.
Like others, seeing a list of current party would guide my application - so I'll hold off on more details until then.

Btw: this is my first post here. I'm super excited to get into a pbp soon!

I'm interested in playing a half-elven fighter Wizard... eventual Eldritch knight... if you have room for such a character 'SUNAMBER' is complete and ready to go. If not.. I'll step aside for some one else.

Faelyn: The world is larger than the internet.

We are now full up! Sorry folks!

Bad form dude. Seriously. One way to learn pbp though, I guess...

Have fun with the campaign.

Bad form, indeed. I won't say anything else beyond good luck...
