I think the module pitch I would make is for a form that forces proper formatting and sanity checks general guidelines.
Does your price exceed 300k? Popup saying you item is too expensive.
Do your cost and price follow the rules?
It would allow you enter all this information, or use drop down menus when possible, and then it would spit out a properly formatted and bbcoded entry.Hell i might just make it a project to brush on my webdesign and coding skills.
Part of the point of this contest though is to find new content creators that can create material following some simple guidelines. Seems like they would want to find the people that required the least hand holding.

been voting most of the day ..
I am truly surprised at the number of basic formatting errors. Is it safe to assume that if you made a submission it made it into the general voting pool?
I have seen ...whew... a couple hundred items and at this moment, I found one that I loved and many that were good, but many are formatted so badly I could not even give it a chance.

God, this thread is killing me. I'm almost certain there's been some posts about my item. I don't see how I'm going to make it 2 weeks like this.
In other news, I seem to be in a relatively good patch of items right now. Here's hoping that I didn't just jinx it.

Then lets start with a few days of voting on just whether or not an item meets the guidelines well enough to be compared to other items. Or at the very least to a culling of items after a sufficient number of votes are cast to have a statistically sound understand of the worst X% of items in circulation, because it wastes less time to not have to vote on obvious non-winners.
I imagine doing several smaller cullings at critical vote number totals would expedite the process of finding the best submissions and make the process more enjoyable. I think people would like to see well done, well thought out, and reasonable items to vote on over days of sorting through rubbish.
But, point taken on part of the contest to be identify people who have the ability to conform to a format. It is, however, something that can be taught to innovative thinkers.

Heh, I've also seen a bunch of Cooking items. Now all we need to do is find some Camping and Wilderness Survival items and we have our own magical Scoutcraft!

Already saw both of those. Also have seen first aid items, woodworking items...these items really trivialize scout camp. (Especially the insta-bridge items. Do you know how long I spent on that log bridge? Too long!)

Damn it, there was a super-cool hat that had a core mechanic that was totally superstar, but then had a bunch of little superfluous unnecessary extra bits. I still voted for it, but it pained me how much I loved ALMOST everything about it, like if I was eating a delicious key lime pie but instead of a dollop of whipped cream in the center, it had a big lump of nacho cheez.
This is exactly who we should be voting up...a perfect item is a perfect item....but someone who has made something you love and shows you some potential that is who we want to see move to the next rounds. If you can say...a good developer would have made sure the Cheez was whipped cream...then the designer just might have what it takes to create awesome pies.

Still haven't seen my item... but then last year I think I was approaching a 500 votes before I first saw it.
I've yet to see mine, and I think I'm pretty well over 600. Starting to wonder if I messed something up and it got culled, but I've seen a few posts that may have been my item, so I'm not sure.

Saw mine around vote 120.
I've seen six different items all with [ / b], spaced out exactly like that, in the item title, and the item name omitted from the item body. Bizarre mostly for how consistent the error is. Did someone distribute a bad template?
I'm pretty sure that putting the tags in the item title makes them look stretched out like that.

There seems to be air traffic control concerns inter dimensionally, so many dimension door applications, I keep imagining an alternate dimension experiencing a Big Bang of matter expansion hoarder style from sixteen other dimensions of folks storing stuff, just rent a pan dimensional c can folks, an inter dimensional intermodal cube maybe!
